‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 9th March 2011

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update 9th March 2011

Well, Back to the Future is finally here… sorry about the wait but it took us this long to generate the necessary 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to publish the game. You can download the trial right now and enjoy a snack sized section of the first episode and unlocking will provide the whole first episode of the 5-part series, with access to each new episode as it’s released.

Explodemon gets the trial and unlock treatment for anyone who was still undecided, and Bionic Commando 2 gets a demo too.

DLC – there’s loads for Def Jam, plenty for Rock Band and the Dragon Age 2 pre-order add-ons launch (for real this time). Even More Animals for LittleBigPlanet 2 drops this week as well, marking the first of the commercially available LBP2 DLC – and certainly not the last. There are free costumes for Yakuza 4, a pack for Porsche lovers hits NFS: Hot Pursuit and the first piece of premium DLC for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood drops today as well – the Da Vinci Disappearance. No prizes for guessing the plot synopsis but it has single and multiplayer content for Ezio’s last outing.

Williams Pinball Classics finally hits PSP, a must have for all pinball fans and at about €1.49 a table there’s some excellent value to be had.

More for PSP this week as well in the shape of three new NEOGEO Station titles, a new mini – Doodle Pool – and Tomb Raider III joins our PSOne Classics collection.

A quick note on behalf of Mr. Thorpe – there are new avatars going into plus today that are free and/or exclusive, for KillZone 3 and also for MotorStorm: Apocalypse. And let’s not forget the Mortal Kombat demo!

We’re aiming to publish at 1pm GMT today so hopefully we’ll be publishing as you read this. It’s a good thing too because I’m in a staff meeting all afternoon, but after my poor showing last week I’ve set myself a full two hours tomorrow morning to sit down and do nothing but comment on your posts – so check back tomorrow afternoon for replies.

I’ve got a hint about what’s coming next week too. It’s really powerful. Especially against living things.

(I’m so excited!)

GREAT update, already downloading what i can. :D

James Gallagher 09 March, 2011 @ 13:58

Ross is in meetings most of the afternoon, apparently. Just so you know…

Was so looking forward to Ridge Racer Type 4 -_-

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:19

It’ll be along – Namco got a bit excitable and announced it a little early. I can confirm we absolutely are getting Ridge Racer Type 4 though.

kingcrowbaruk 09 March, 2011 @ 13:02

Williams Pinball Classics on the day PSN shuts down? I’ll bet it is mysteriously pulled after the restart. :D

So Ridge Racer Type 4 is only the US this week?

Damn got my hopes up after reading someone’s comment on the other blog :(

Carnivius_Prime 09 March, 2011 @ 13:02

Where’s Ridge Racer Type 4. I can’t afford Back to the Future today so was looking forward to replaying R4 but we get cruddy Tomb Raider 3 instead? Meh.

Looking forward to playing the Motorstorm demo though.

Cheers for making some of those nice Motorstorm avatars free for Plus owners though. I’ll even take the Killzone ones since they’re free.

liortttttttttttt 09 March, 2011 @ 13:02

good update is crysis 2 demo out next week?

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:20

Yes indeed it is.

It’s about Time!

Anyways I’m all excited about Dragon Age 2 now, playing trough orgins for the first time at the moment. Made me wonder what upcoming game are you really excited about, Ross?

Also could you check your magic crystal ball if there’s any upcoming PSN release of any Phantasy Star or Shining Force (Mega Drive era) game on the way? If not, can you send a bribe to Mike so he gets things moving?

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:24

I’ll have to send a bribe to Mr. Kebby, i don’t have any visibility on that I’m afraid.

What am I excited about that’s coming up? How far in the future are we talking? I’m very excited for Deus Ex, for example. Crysis 2 will be gracing my PC rather than my PS3 as that’s how I played the first Crysis and Warhead. Having now seen quite a bit of inFamous 2 in action I’m really looking forward to that one as well.

finally avatars- thank u.

Carnivius_Prime 09 March, 2011 @ 13:04

By the way the update was up before 1pm. I was sorting my downloads out on it abotu 10 mins before. Which is good though still disappointed with the lack of Ridge Racer Type 4 which is still better than any Ridge Racer since.

SpiderMike_X 09 March, 2011 @ 13:05

Grabbed most of the update this week around 25mins ago, including the PS Plus stuff. Quite a bounty of goodness this week, Ross. Good looking out buddy. Chat to u soon.

‘MotorStorm Apocalypse Single Player Demo’ :P :P :P

mitch_uk_psn 09 March, 2011 @ 13:06

Can’t wait till next week :)

Namco Bandai seem to think Ridge Racer Type 4 was due this week – http://www.namcobandaigames.eu/product/ridge-racer-type-4/ps-network – hopefully next week.

an ok update but i think theres something missing what was it oh yeah wheres RIDGE RACER TYPE 4!!!

As always the YANKS get what they want with demos dlc and even ps1 classics mind you they got like 10 ps1 classics on there update and we get just one plus its over-priced. on namcobandai website it says release date 9th march so why isnt it here yet the US gets it

Hi Ross,

Any news about Jurassic Park coming to PSN??

PS: and Under Siege??

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:26

The news from upstairs is that Under Siege is supposed to be imminent but I have no date.

Rockstar avatars, awesome. :) The missus will want a John Marston avatar methinks!

I’m sorry Ross but I have betrayed you, I bought Spelunker HD from the US PSN store. I hope lots of people buy it when it comes out on the EU PSN, it’s super addictive.

Buy Explodemon! people, it’s cracking good fun.

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:27

Sorry to hear about you grabbing Spelunker elsewhere, it’s still most definitely on its way here.

I do agree with your assessment of Explodemon! though – everyone should own it.

Another Tomb Raider game that cost over double what the US pricing is.

£8 in UK and $6 in US? £8 is like $13 or so.

This is a disgrace, does SCE not have some rule that pricing should be near equal?

Microsoft does.

Is not onder people hack their PSPs, who wants to pay this massively unequal pricing?

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:33

If you have any comments or concerns about any Square-Enix content, you can make yourself heard on the Square-Enix Members site:

ah i see the LBP2CE stuff is coming out so everyone can get it so not long untill we get out hands on the other lbp2 stuff like R&C etc

Great update Ross.. to bad I am @ work and with this maintenance if my auto ps+ does not update I will miss out on MK as well.. :(

I was wondering about the crysis 2 demo as well I saw a announcement of the states getting it the 15th how about us in Europe.

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:34

It’ll be the 16th, but yes, Crysis 2 demo next week.

La_Mangouste 09 March, 2011 @ 13:08

No “Spring Fever” discounts like in the US Store ? :-(

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:37

No, we won’t be running the Spring Fever promotion, it’s a SCEA affair. Keep an eye out for something on a par with the Festive sale on its way though.

DANTHEMAN121 09 March, 2011 @ 13:08

EPIC update of win loads to download this week
demos, avatars, add on content

cheers SCEE nice 1

Time to zap myself from the future to the eighties.

Namco had Ridge Racer Type 4 down for 9th March on their Euro site, any reason why it’s not there? I was really looking forward to that, no I just feel extremely annoyed.

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:34

Namco Bandai had the EU date wrong I’m afraid.

I love the PSone addition, Tomb Raider 3 :D

The only thing still missing for me now are the Spyro classics and Tekker 3

PS+ section is missing some avatars posted in the blog post also.

nice update, I’ve bought Back to the Future and the AC Brotherhood DLC. Looking forward to playing those tonight.

I am waiting for Williams Pinball for 2 years. I believe, that this time will not dissapear from PSN, as in several times ago…

almighty-slayer 09 March, 2011 @ 13:10

BTTF for me then :D

Have no idea what the hint is :(

Also, I am not paying £8 for Tomb Raider 3, stop putting your prices so high, Square :(

“It’s really powerful. Especially against living things.”

is this a Resident Evil reference.-.-?

“I’ve got a hint about what’s coming next week too. It’s really powerful. Especially against living things.
(I’m so excited!)”

It’s Resident Evil, guys! RESIDENT EVIL!

Oh, his hint next week is for Resident Evil (the first game), it is a quote from the game.

addyjones1234 09 March, 2011 @ 13:11

Great update guys, can’t wait to get my hands on Motorstorm: Apocalypse yet again :D

Back to the Future is great, but what about full games digital downloads? Pure is in the us store! I want more. I want Mod Nations Racers, Killzone, Uncharted…
And still no info update on the store for the Assassin’s Creed 2 version. Is it the GOTY? Has it all the DLC and secret locations?

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:39

I’ve answered this question several times – yes, AC2 is the GOTY edition with the DLC included.

Why the lack of content and increased prices?

Microsoft – Same price for different regions

Sony – Charge whatever we want to each region

sigh >:(

what ? Yakuza 4 Costume Pack DLC? the game isn’t out yet! is this an error? the game will be out next friday…

Hi Ross, any developments on the MLB The Show 11 for PSN request?

The game is out this week in the US and hopefully you have some news, good or bad so I can decide whether to go ahead and import it again this year.

Thanks in advance.

nice update
any news on a price/date for ghostbusterS SOS?

anychance of bttf getting put on plus?

Ross this will be a long comment so sorry in advance lol

Anyway last week I had a bit of a problem somehow DC universes auto renew kicked in and it took 9.99 from my account. I don’t even have the game anymore (very bad times)

I know for a fact i turned this off because, I always do turn them off cause I know better than to leave them on.

anyway I rang your customer service and they said they would send my request up to the network team (which is you right?) I was just wondering if you could help my case :( i was gonna use those funds to buy BTTF but now i can’t :(

oh yeah and is there anyway you could fix the stores bad delay after adding stuff to your cart? it’s really annoying lol

again sorry for this comment (or mild rant) have a good day chap! (Tomorrow ;))

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:41

Actually I’m not technically the Network team, but your request should get sorted out – I’ll chase it up if necessary.

ChrisandJulie 09 March, 2011 @ 13:15

Rubbish update for PSP owners, but this is what we expect each week anyway.

whereismax123 09 March, 2011 @ 13:15

i read ross’s artilce thinking there was motorstorm demo ..only to see that there is . im suprised you didnt mention it . why is every avater 20p except killzone 3 which has triple the price…what a rip

“Williams Pinball Classics finally hits PSP”

On the day I’ll be unable to download it

Par for the course :D

almighty-slayer 09 March, 2011 @ 13:15

Oh, Resident Evil? Nice try, bought it from US Store about a year ago ;)

Hmm about the hint, Resident Evil or Parasite Eve? meh, I’ll say for both!

Any news on when Beyond Good & Evil HD will be available?

so next week then…

something strong against living things?… jill valentines perky bum cheeks? ^__^

great update guys :)

Here we are again….. When is Under Siege releasing????
Great update but i want this game :(

spikemad2005 09 March, 2011 @ 13:17

Any date set for Tombi yet?

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:42

Nope, it’s gone for legal clearance, nothing else.

Amherst_Wind_4 09 March, 2011 @ 13:18

Any word on Neptunia dlc yet?

why does it say on namco bandai website ridge racer type 4 is out today when its clearly not and that america has its unfair namco should change the date to 9th march 2012 at this rate disappointed cant download it

Nice update sir!

Sorry for still bothering with this though; any updates on if/when The Netherlands and Belgium can expect Tales from Space?

Ross McGrath 10 March, 2011 @ 12:44

I don’t have an update myself but as I said before, they were enthusiastic about bringing the game to the places where it currently isn’t – can only be a matter of time.
