‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 30th March 2011

'Heads-Up' Game Store Update 30th March 2011

Hello all – a quick update today on the new things we’ve got and we have an absolute ton of new games and DLC.

Ghostbusters return to PS3 with the Sanctum of Slime, Chime reaches us in the shape of a Super Deluxe edition and we’re invaded by blue individuals with Swarm (all three of these games have trials too).
Square-Enix provides us with two awesome titles, one for each platform. The Parasite Eve saga continues on PSP in The 3rd Birthday and Moon Diver graces the PS3.

Plenty of DLC as well this week but the stand outs are Arrival for Mass Effect 2 which bridges the gap to Mass Effect 3, and a whole host of Need for Speed: Shift 2 DLC (available in-game, so have a browse) plus loads for you golf fans with a bunker load of DLC for the new Tiger Woods.

I’ll be around for comments later on today, so leave your responses and I’ll get to them asap.

Bye all!

    @ Kicorro.

    Sad, very sad.

    @ Ross,

    No Free Realms?

    Wow thats a bad update…….

ME2: Arrival today for me. :)

    Position – who cares….

    ME Arrival for me.

    Where’s Free Realms?

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:40

Free Realms is now available in SCEA, but it isn’t launching here this week. I refer you to a quote from the President of SOE, John Smeldey, who stated this in January:

“This is in submission at SCEA [Sony Computer Entertainment America] right now. Once it’s done with that, once it’s through, we’ll be launching it in SCEE [Sony Computer Entertainment Europe]”.

Apologies if you’ve been misled but there were no plans to bring Free Realms to the EU Store this week. It’s definitely in submission, we’re processing it at the moment.

I no it posts at 1pm so I just refreshed till it appeared XD
I used to see “0 Posts”, then wen i click on it lots apear….
    But not this time…

Where is UNDER SIEGE UNDER SIEGE??????

Pretty good week for both ps3 and psp owner tho the special offer is quiet weak and no ps1 classic or good avatars.

    2 things:

Firstly, Ross I must say you do an excellent job, I don’t comment much but I read a LOT and I must say I appreciate your dedication and patience. You should give yourself a gold star and a biscuit :)

Secondly, do we have a date for the Pink Knight yet? *Bounces up and down in anticipation*

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:42

Sorry no date but as I said last week we’re now actually making progress on it, so shouldn’t be too much longer.

I guess we arent gonna get Ridge Racer 4 :o(
    Oh well

    Very good update.

    Were is free realms

Awful update. Besides, where is the promised Castlevania DLC ? And where is Free Realms?

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:43

Konami delayed the Castlevania DLC in Europe, as far as I know it’s ready and there are no problems on our side of the fence, so whatever reasons they have are their own.

    Death-In-Pants 30 March, 2011 @ 13:04

Unless you want 100% on your trophy set for Mass Effect 2 I’d read the reviews for the DLC first, they haven’t been kind to say the least.

    Yup, pretty poor update again.

Hey Ross, can’t you enforce a rule that says prices set on PSN releases in europe aren’t allowed to exceed the value of the prices set in US?
I’m sick & tired of companies thinking Euro = Dollar wich means we roughly have to pay 1/3 extra than the americans.
Beeing a poor student I can’t find anything else but to hope that the game that i’m interested in will be put up on sale ASAP.

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:44

When I’m consulted on price, I do point this out to the publishers.

hopefully New Zealand gets Resident Evil Directors Cut with this update…

Free Realms any news looking forward to it.

    Hi Ross,

Do you know if there will be a DLC costume for Warrior of Light for Dissidia 012, like in JP and US?

Any news on Tekken 3 and Resident Evil 2?

Today I’m getting Arrival for Mass Effect 2.

    Death-In-Pants 30 March, 2011 @ 13:07

He’s deleted the first post. Bad, bad moderator.

So no bttf epi 2 , no free realms and no ridge racer . No cash from me

Nice big update – Wow you wonder if there’s any actual content on the Tigers Masters disk!
However I have to say I was holding out for Under Siege (disappeared in QA), Okami avatars (Capcom unlikely to have remembered Europe), and Free Realms (I’ll believe it when I see it…)

    Death-In-Pants 30 March, 2011 @ 13:08

Oh, and you get kicked. And a time limit between posts.

Nice to see your wages going to good use, Ross.

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:45

I have nothing to do with moderating the blog. I’ve only just sat down to respond to comments.

That’s where SCEE fail every time. I have said before and will again, it’s because nobody in SCEE has the backbone to do something about it. I mean other companies can.

    TimodusSnake 30 March, 2011 @ 13:09

Where is Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Reverie DLC? US got it a week ago.

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:46

I am aware of that, I also don’t know why Konami have delayed it further in Europe.

Good update for PSP owners and those wanting a shed load of Tiger woods extras. Other than that its a poor update for PS3 owners.

And still no spring offers like the US store. No Dead Nation offer.
Lest hope next week is better and there are some better dicounts on better titles the cards.

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:48

I really don’t know how you can call an update ‘bad for PS3 owners’ when it contains over four new games.

Hmm, post awaiting moderation. Funny how that would happen when criticising SCEE.

    Death-In-Pants 30 March, 2011 @ 13:09

No castlevania either. Ross may have also deleted that in his haste.

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:47

any chance of seeing the motorstorm apocalypse stuff coming back? it is out tomorrow

    to post nr 13,

u think sony cares about that? it has been a complaint from day one, but they dont care. else they would have fixed it by now.
prob say that they dont set the prices but the publishers do.
and that will be the end of it, easy cop-out.

sony, its your store, u can enforce prices to be the same all over the world.

    Hell-Raiser-85 30 March, 2011 @ 13:10

    Nice update Ross.

@Murphy2k8 Free Realms is coming soon. Look at post 2 hear. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/03/29/free-realms-hits-psn-today-with-voice-chat-trophies/

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:51

Just to clarify that as well:

+ Stephen Bokkes on March 29th, 2011 at 2:59 pm said:
Of course. We have love for Europe too. We don’t have a firm date yet, but we’re hoping to get you your Free Realms PS3 fix soon.

Where is Free Realms!?!?? Ive been looking forward to playing it the whole week!!! Flipping EU!

    Carnivius_Prime 30 March, 2011 @ 13:12

Ghostbusters is a lil more expensive than originally announced. Moon Diver is pretty poor. These modern attempts at side scrollers just fail to capture the solid feel of the old 2D sprite stuff.

Free Realms is on the US store but someone’s messed up cos even once you download the whole thing it says it cannot be launched.

I might get Ghostbusters, the trial is a lil dull but with other people playing it might get a lot more fun and I’ll take Super Stardust addon thingy.

Ross, When is Williams Pinball being released?

    /Sorry, couldn’t resist :D

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:52

    That actually made me smile.

I just wanna know what’s up with Free Realms? It wont even boot up. Any ETA on it ACTUALLY going live? Any ETA on EU release?

And no Castlevania DLC… *sigh*. Oh well, no purchases for me this week.

Still no PS1 classics and No PS1 classics and No PS1 classics, you see where I am going here, you guys are politicians you promise what you can’t deliver.

    Death_Seaker3000 30 March, 2011 @ 13:13

    good update.
Is April gonna be a strong month? ;) Looking forward to ps plus next week. keep up the good work. :)

DLC for a game that is not even out yet very nice

    @29, Thanks for the link.

    SCEE region loses out again.

    TheKillerSnowman 30 March, 2011 @ 13:14

nothing for me this week as usual.

Why do games like Parasite eve n and lord of arcana always release on friday, whats the point when the store delivers ontent on wednesday?

    Hi Ross,

Can you please make sure PS+ featured PSN, Minis and PSone titles return to the store soon. It seems that after being featured they forgot to put back up for normal use (see VectorTD and a couple more)

Reason I ask is because my subscription just ran out and items need to be repurchased (for 0 euro) to work correctly and appear in the download list).
Which reminds me, can you make it a automatic process?

    ROBERTWARNES 30 March, 2011 @ 13:14

Is Australia getting the 3rd Birthday on the 1st of April as well?

Are we getting the Rock Band 3 pack which should be

Spinning Wheel – Blood, Sweat & Tears (£0.99/€1.49)
Black Magic Woman – Santana (£0.99/€1.49)
Somebody To Love – Jefferson Airplane (£0.99/€1.49)

    in one for £2.49?

I’ve noticed this happens regularly with Rock Band packs and it can take weeks to get sorted sometimes.

Ross, is there a date on “Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes”?

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:55

Ah, yes there is, I can’t say but the announcement will be soon.

    quidditys_shore 30 March, 2011 @ 13:15

will get ghostbusters but thats it :(

    really disappointed about prices….. again!

    split/second psp it £14.99 in most places & 3rd birthday is £22.99

Quite a low-key update, to be honest with you.

Here is a suggestion for the next price reductions (temporary) – make it Wipeout HD Fury combo pack, and I would buy on impulse.

    Any ETA on Tombi?

    JediDragon05 30 March, 2011 @ 13:15

Still no ridge racer type 4?
Also still no sonic the hedgehog, I know plus users can get it but how much longer do us mere peasents have to wait?

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:56

Actually Sonic is out today for the rest of the Store, and remains in Plus for one more week.

11# How can you say it’s a awful update? What does it need to make it a good update? You get 3demos,4ps3 games,3psp games,2minis and lots of DLCs. I wonder what you say when a update is really awfull but this is a pretty god update.

Free realms have said they will release the game later for.

I’ve posted this question before but I got ignored. So please answer this time.

QUESTION:Will we ever see port of Sonic Adventure 2 in PSN?
The first one is alredy there so…

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:57

That would be up to SEGA – as far as I know there are currently no plans. Remember that Sonic Adventure was on Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure 2 wasn’t, so that may be a factor.

Is the original Sonic the Hedgehog coming to non-PS Plus subscribers? It was released on the US store yesterday so I was expecting it to be put on the EU store today.

    Ross McGrath 30 March, 2011 @ 14:58

Yes it is – list should have been updated.

    £7.19 for Chime!
you had to be greedy for the extra .19p:/
