That’s a wrap for gamescom 2011 – thanks Cologne! I’ve really enjoyed this year’s show and have met up with some great industry friends and seen some really impressive games. I reckon the biggest queue on the show floor was for the PS Vita hands-on area, although the Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3 booth pushed it pretty close. A personal highlight was getting to see Aliens: Colonial Marines for the first time and it is looking more impressive than I could have hoped. The way they have captured the atmosphere of the movies is spot-on and the animation of the Aliens makes my skin crawl, in a good way. I hope you enjoyed the content because there’s definitely more to come next week. In the meantime, thanks to all of you who joined us to watch the live stream – I’m still pulling the numbers together but they’re already pleasing – and have great weekends, whatever you’re playing.

• PlayStation 3 Now Available at €249.99 – PS3 is now more accessible than ever thanks to a price reduction that sets it at €249.99 (RRP) with immediate effect.
• InFamous 2 Festival Of Blood Revealed At Gamescom – InFamous Festival of Blood will be a brand new standalone single player DLC for download via PSN.
• ‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 17th August 2011 – The star of the update this week is of course a large selection of gamescom related videos for all the hotly anticipated titles being shown.
• Ratchet & Clank Hit gamescom – A brand new trailer for Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One for gamescom and lots more coming soon!
• Uncharted Golden Abyss Gamescom Trailer – Here’s a trailer that introduces a new and important character… introducing Marisa Chase, aka “Chase.”
• PlayStation Home: Dead Island And Gamescom 2011 – The zombie survival game – Dead Island, gamescom 2011, Dolly’s Diner, Peeps and cool leather jackets, all in this weeks update!
• WipEout 2048 Bringing The Birth Of Anti-Grav Racing To PS VITA – There’s a warm feeling of familiarity to knowing that WipEout 2048 is coming to PlayStation Vita.
