House Of The Dead: OVERKILL Extended Cut – Creeping Flesh

Not content with simply revealing the first exclusive level for the PS3 release of House of the Dead: OVERKILL, I’m back to give you the scoop on the second one too. Set in the cosy confines of an abattoir taken over by a meaty disease of sorts, Creeping Flesh delivers you more of the additional awesome content we’ve lovingly added to the extended, and definitive, edition of OVERKILL.

We pick up the story with Varla and Candy again, and this time circumstances lead them to the local abattoir. I’m not going to spoil any of the story and the detail around what leads them there, but let’s just say it’s the standard House of the Dead fare; there are guns, motives for revenge and mutants galore, all wrapped up with the usual Grindhouse styling.

As you can see from the above image, there is something of a meaty infestation starting to take hold inside the building, and internally we’ve affectionately referred to this as the meat wall (there is also a meat tunnel later in the level, so that’s something to look forward to). Varla and Candy find themselves fighting amongst this wall of flesh, and as they proceed through the ‘meat factory’ they’ll be forced to take action against the new mutants shown above too. These mutants take the expression ‘meat shield’ to a new level, seeing as the additional flesh they’re lugging around makes them slightly more impervious to gunfire than your standard mutants: it’s body armour made of bodies, so to speak.

I also wanted to give you a sneak peak at the level boss, which is one of the most horrid creations I’ve ever seen in a House of the Dead title. Meat Katie is a savage hybrid of mutant and…cow. Yes, cow. I can only imagine where all that anger has come from, but my personal belief is that she’s harnessing the powers of all the lost cow souls from within the abattoir. Don’t mock, you come up with better!

Anyway, Meat Katie is armed with a massive cleaver, and has a nasty habit of flinging large chunks of meat at her intended victims; I imagine Varla and Candy have had plenty of practise avoiding unwanted meat, so it’s probably not too much of an issue though. In other words, you’re going to need good reflexes, steady aim, and perseverance, because this melee monster is going to take a lot of bullets until she’s beaten.

I hope this serves to only get you more excited about this exclusive PlayStation Move title, and confirm just how much effort the team at Headstrong have put into making the game even more brilliant this time round. You’re in for a meaty treat later this year!

Hey Mike,

Do you know if we’ll see Phantasy Star 2 & Ecco the Dolphin (I know 360 got them) on PSN?

Also any chance for Phantasy Star 3 & 4, Shining Force 1 & 2 to be released on PSN?

Hey Mike do you know what’s happening with the game in AU? Has SEGA resubmitted it? Cant believe it was banned, I mean GOW3 is ok for 15 year old to play but this is not? How do you explain that? Thanks!

Hell-Raiser-85 30 August, 2011 @ 15:31

Mike can you post the trophy list?

I think we’ll save that for another time, probably nearer release ;)

Hello again, Mike.

Sony pull your thumb out of your as$ and fix the web browser, it is now impossible to watch anything on the 4od app because the web browser collapses and says “there is not enough memory. the window content was replaced with a blank page.”

that looks really good

@mattmanunited Press triangle, and delete the cookies and cache

much better games are due for release but good job none the less and can sega bring sega megadrive games to ps3 pretty please

That cuts deep polynski…sniff sniff

We know it’s a very busy release schedule, but for your move, 3D and mutant killing needs there is no other game to get later this year.

Hiya Kebster, good to see ya.

This is the stuff we want from SEGA, Mike! Good job!

Now get working on Streets of Rage 4!

Oh yeah, in God’s name, get Guardian Heroes on the PSN Store!! What’s the story with releasing this on XBOXLIVE only? Ridiculous!

They should bundle this with the arcade only hotd4. Kinda like the namco shooting pack. That would make it great value for money!

Well… since it’s not coming to Germany, there is no use in buying a move set… I am tempted… but well no funny, gory game for popcorn-throwing evening with some friends – no move :(.

Sorry to say that, this game would have indeed been a major seller for me…

here my 2 pence i don’t understand the german censors at all The USK i seen them on our UK copys of games with our BBFC 1 game has a BBFC 18 & a USK 16 la norie had more realistic violence & nudity, then the bloody head poping antics of zombies.

even a USK 18 & BBFC 18 are not banned so i wonder mike kebby is the House of the dead a pegi rated game.

it looks to me germany has issues with Pegi then it‘s USK what you think?

* i even got the P3P cover in front of me it got a great big green label USK 12 & a small orange pegi 12 on the box.

Are Sega going to try change the game to get an MA15+, or wait for the R18+, and leave the game unedited for Australia?

yeah mike i was asking about official h.o.t.d:O shooterattachments
