SOCOM: Special Forces DLC Packs Incoming

The SOCOM franchise is a long and storied one, and today we’re very happy to announce that we’re revisiting its past and bringing back what is perhaps the series’ most popular mode, “Demolition”, alongside this much loved mode you will get new maps weapons and character skins as well!

For those that haven’t experienced “Demolition” before, each team vies for control of a bomb placed on the map. Once a team grabs the bomb, they need to carry it into the opposing team’s base, arm the bomb and defend it until the base is destroyed.

The Demolition Pack includes four new maps, two of which are returning classics — “Bitter Jungle” and “Ruins”. All four of these maps support not only the Demolition game type but many of the retail competitive modes as well. Additionally, six of the existing maps will support the Demolition game type, making for 10 total Demolition maps. Additionally, the Demolition Pack also includes two new weapons, the HS-C3 and 552, as well as six new multiplayer skins to choose from.

But the SOCOM action doesn’t stop there. we’ve got another treat in store for you…

In a few weeks time we’ll also be expanding SOCOM: Special Forces cooperative mode with the new Evac Co-op Pack. Available early November for €4.99, the Evac Co-op Pack will introduce the “Evac” cooperative mode and include a new cooperative map, two new weapons and six additional character skins.

In “Evac”, players are caught behind enemy lines and must fight their way out alive. Your pick-up vehicle is on-route to a designated location, and it’s up to you to fight your way there and defend the point until your exit arrives.

“Evac” works across the original six cooperative missions as well as the new “Onslaught” location included in this pack. “Onslaught” also supports the original “Espionage” and “Takedown” cooperative modes.

Dang! Too many new games coming and now this also… I might get the coop thing, but i dont like Socom multiplayer anymore :(

Cant wait for the DLC mainly due to Ruins and the 552, shame they couldnt include Fish hook but oh well maybe in the future

Have they got rid of the auto camera, and given zapper options for standard Move? loved the beta, but decided I wouldn’t buy the game until auto level was gone.

Nice, new maps and weapons is always a win.. Can’t wait for the co op dlc either.. Never got into socom before this because of the horrible controlls, so this is my favorite socom..

And damn, double xp just when Rachet/Clank and Batman comes out? Not to mention GT5 dlc :p I’ll try to make the most use out of it..

And the release date is tomorrow right?

i purchased socom 4 the other week and it keeps freezing on the update what sgould i do because i cant tellif its just taking time to update or its frozen please help!

These are great updates – really looking forward to playing them – had some nasty flus this year which have kept me off it more than I’d like, but I’ll be playing SOCOM ’til no-one else is there to play it with – it still could do with lobbies, and hope there’s DLC for extraction and breach as well, but the core SOCOM gameplay and these new maps and good ‘ole Demolition are great news :).

@DeMoLiTiiTiON–: Donno if it helps or if you’ve tried it, but I’ve once had a problem with patching a game myself (Uncharted 2) and what I did then was that I went and deleted the game data of that game and then disconnected my PS3 from the internet and entered the game. Then when it had installed whatever needed to run the game, I quit the game, connected to the internet again and then tried entering the game again. This time it patched perfectly and the game went smooth after. You should try that if you haven’t tried it :)

Hey will these DLC have added trophies?

This is GREAT news but the game still needs regional lobbies. The community will never grow to be as great and vibrant as the SOCOM 2 community was until this happens.

cool name Bumblebee best one ever if its ok with u can i add u tomoz when my ban is finally lifted for a false report for something i didnt do and i do get them alot honestly oneday someone will invent software that tells you who reported you then u can tell them off not me cuz im daft as a brush

No, don’t add me, I only accept people I know. I get too many requests from strangers and there are a lot of old SOCOM players and real-world friends on my list. So please don’t add me as I will only reject it.

Yes, you’re bringing back SOCOM’s most popular mode….and charging for it. The nerve of you fools at Zipper to ignore the fanbase and develop a game around the features that made SOCOM a great game and now you have the nerve to try and get that community back by adding some “classic” features after being ignored all this time and you want to charge us for it? Modes that have been with the franchise from the beginning. You can keep your DLC Dunham.

Stop wasting your time on this travesty of a SOCOM game and go make a REAL SOCOM.

While I agree to a point, they’re only £3.99 each. Hardly breaking the bank.

But again, what we need is regional lobbies. I’d pay for that. As it is, I’ve not been on SOCOM 4 in months… yet I played S2 for years… because the community is what made it, and without regional lobbies to build the community, there’s nothing to go back for.

I just wish someone from Sony would listen to the fans and wrestle control of this franchise; perhaps put someone in charge who actually liked/played SOCOM 2.

@14

Wow ….. telling the people who made Socom to go away and make a real Socom?

Socom is whatever the maker makes it!

You obviously have never played SOCOM 2 to any real extent. Pretty much everything that made that game great has been stripped out of S4. It’s a game that has obviously been made by people who had no passion for the series. It’s a little like getting George Lucas to make a Star Wars film decades after the original. Sure, he invented the series but he’s got no clue how to make something the fans want any more.

I mean, no lobbies means you can’t play with your friends easily, at all. This was SO simple in S1/S2. Now it’s a case, often, of sitting and waiting and trying and trying and TRYING and getting frustrated, sometimes I’ve been trying to join my friends for 45 minutes before giving up! This NEVER happened in S2. So that is a massive step backwards. Let’s add to that the missing game modes, terrible comms, and you can’t even open doors any more! It’s a step backwards, where this “generation” should have been about ADVANCING the series. Not stripping out features that made the...

Not stripping out features that made the game great and replacing them with frustrating elements that don’t work.

In summary, jfontyman, you are clueless.
