‘Heads-Up’ Game Store Update 2 May 2012

Gran Turismo fans, start your engines! Back again for 2012, we’re happy to release the new Gran Turismo Academy (released Tuesday 1st May). Take on your friends and GT fans across Europe for your chance to train as a real-life racer. Featuring new challenges released over regular intervals, the Top 16 drivers at the end of the final round will go on to compete in the individual National Finals events, with the best then selected for Race Camp at Silverstone – where they will drive a real Nissan sports car.

Skullgirls, an all-new 2D beat ’em up from Konami, is finally here to add even more spice to the fighting game community. Created with tournament-level play in mind, Skullgirls is a fresh new game giving the player a colourful cast of characters with some zany gameplay!

Frobisher Says! A new free app that’ll make your head spin. Filled with crazy mini-games utilising the many features of the Vita system, take on Frobisher’s challenges on your own or pass around your Vita with 8 people to see who can get the highest score. Mini games include poking dogs using the touch screen or searching for a bird with the Vita’s motion sensors combined with camera. A truly bizarre game!

We’ve also reduced more titles in delight of our recent announcement of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. Check out the Royale Contenders Sale for what’s on offer.

And for PS Plus members, you have the likes of the PS2 Classic Max Payne, Awesomenauts, Hamsterball, Sky Fighter, Smash Cars and more at no cost! You’ll also find Zack Zero at 50% off, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood at 30% off and of course, more! Please refer back to Mr.Ross McGrath’s Plus post right here.

Lastly, keep an eye out on Friday, as Vita owners may see a little bit of Mortal Kombat suddenly appear…

Any price on Mortal Kombat Vita yet?

James Gallagher 02 May, 2012 @ 13:54

Hey everyone, hope you’re all having happy Wednesdays. Just letting you know that Jawad is out of the office today so he will take a look at your comments and respond where he can tomorrow morning. In the meantime, I can happily confirm that Mortal Kombat will be launching on PS Store for PS Vita on Friday, and I’m updating the post with the details right now.

Hello Jawad

Some new PSP games that are VITA compatible?

Or there will not be any more PSP games for the VITA…?

EternalChaos72 02 May, 2012 @ 13:05

sigh* no decent avatars cmon capcom where the hell are they!!

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:12

Overdue, we know. They know, too. They will slowly but surely submit them, though!

An awesome update :-)

CardcaptorStacey 02 May, 2012 @ 13:06

Heard anything about Okami and Atelier Totori avatars? Thanks

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:13

Nothing on either. Okami may be part of a large batch Capcom are looking at submitting.

NIS’ avatars come out rarely and not in sizeable batches so these may appear in a next batch.

CorpDwayneHicks 02 May, 2012 @ 13:06

Ask Sega for Night Trap HD !

Hey Jawad, What time is the PS Plus update being published? Also, I, Like many others would love to see Parappa come to the PS Store in both forms. Can we please make this happen?

psychobudgie 02 May, 2012 @ 13:07

Could you guys let us know if the PSN maintenance that some sites are reporting as happening this afternoon is actually happening? Haven’t heard anything official other than a link to Playstation Japan which says it will hit this afternoon at 4pm UK time for 7 hours and will affect the Playstation Store.

Carnivius_Prime 02 May, 2012 @ 13:08

I tried the trial of Awesomenauts on the US store last night. It’s pretty decent and great that Plus gets it for free too. I’ll download the rest of the freebies I haven’t already got too.

I’m once again just disappointed to see no Doctor Who this week either. Is the one game I’m looking forward to lately and I have money sitting in my PSN account I want to spend on it.

I would like to know the Mortal Kombat Price Aswell.
If its less than 30 pound i might cancel my pre-order

Is there anymore content heading for the PSone Imports section?

Had such high hopes for that and it really hasn’t delivered much.

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:14

Arc Arena is due soon. I’m working on pushing Spyro along still….

and when is all this going to happen, been pretty dissapointed with the ps plus contect of recent and its really not making me think about renewing my subscription. we never even had an update last week and it feels like we are always brushed to the side

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:15

The Plus blog post is linked to above where Ross has mentioned the various titles on offer.

soot_and_stars 02 May, 2012 @ 13:11

Forgive me but why would anyone pay £49.99 for a game you can get for £37.99 in the shops.

Would like to know price and size for Mortal Kombat?

SolidNinjaSnake 02 May, 2012 @ 13:13

Waiting to try out Dirt Showdown! =)

Silver-Seraphim 02 May, 2012 @ 13:13

Hey Jawad,

Any news on Darkstalkers, Darkstalkers 3 or Odin Sphere on the PSN yet?

Thank You

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:16

Darkstalkers is being looked at by Capcom.

Odin Sphere I haven’t received an updated status on.

Just + stuff for me.Waiting on Datura and 4am.

chrisredfield_97 02 May, 2012 @ 13:13

hey dude can i call you dude? do you know when resident evil 5 and assassin’s creed universe avatars will come to the store? please if you can answer to my question i wanna really know if these avatars will come to the store please jawad keep me updated and oh sweet update by the way!!!!

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:17

If they’re in Capcom’s next batch then yes, RE5 avatars will come. here are a lot of avatars planned from them.

still no psvita games… not even the ones already published in other countries!! psvita is the worst purchase i’ve made this year…

Looks like a good update to me as a Plus member. Vita selection is weak as always. I guess a lame free game is better than nothing at all though.

No word yet on Walking Dead for Australia? :(

Light-and-magic 02 May, 2012 @ 13:14

Any idea when we’ll be getting Disgaea 3 or Hyperdimension Neptunia avatars?

Nightmare966 02 May, 2012 @ 13:14

Looks like I’m grabbing the free SFxT DLC (and probably the Sly Trilogy that’s going to be on sale!).

Still no Closure or Arcade Pinball…….Heads off to US store!

aaronrogers2009 02 May, 2012 @ 13:15

Hi jawad, are we expecting anymore ps1 & ps2 games soon as everyone is waitin for alot of popular titles to re appear ie spyro, croc, burnout games etc…. Please let more be released, many thank!!!

BusterMachine19 02 May, 2012 @ 13:15

Here we go again, another major Vita release and absolutely no mention of whether it’ll be on the PSN store or not. Really terrible communication guys, you should really sort this out.

gulliblesoup 02 May, 2012 @ 13:16

So nothing for the PSP, for about 5 weeks running now? My poor PSP-GO is starting to feel neglected!

milkster1001 02 May, 2012 @ 13:16

Nice update man!

Do you know if there’s any word on a Resistance: Burning Skies demo? Would be great to see one released before the actual game!

RoaringMdog18 02 May, 2012 @ 13:16

Finally! Skullgirls! Will be picking that one up for sure , along with awesomenauts ^^.

I have 2 questions though.

Could you guys perhaps look into getting the ps1 game ‘spiderman’ , or the ps2 game ‘ultimate spiderman’ on the playstation store? It would be highly apprieciated ^^ Also , are we going to get some more screenshots or a video of the Ratchet & Clank collection. The release it 2 weeks away and all we’ve seen are those 4 screenshots. Kinda getting worried that it might be delayed..

Nothing for me this week but maybe thats a good thing seeing as how my wallets taken a battering the last few weeks thanks to the store ;)

Any news on any future PSP price drops coming pal? Since getting my Vita im discovering a whole new life to PSP games thanks to that second thumb stick. And whilst i know its down to the publisher, is there any incling of news as to if we’ll see Silent Hill Origins get a release?

umbrellabio 02 May, 2012 @ 13:18

Motorstorm arctic edge is still missing from my download list, what can I do?
I’d prefer not to get in contact with customer support as the last time I dealt with them no one knew what they were doing or talking about and it took a couple of weeks to sort out my problem.

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:25

I’ve forwarded this on. Hopefully someone will know something about it.

For me this week:
Awesomenauts (Trial)
Skullgirls (Trial)
Jon Burgerman Avatar Bundle
Strange Place and Spectral Dawn Dynamic Themes

Question unanswered from last week:
When do we get Audiorium HD?

Any news on the release date for The Pinball Arcade?

nothing for me this week :(

It great SCEE not loseing it’s touch with lack of partially minus 1 ps2 classic rayman-2 that 2 Ps2 classics their have & 1 RPG ps1 classic LoD.

Dont worry SCEA has them. :/

@ air lingus if you read what you get from plus in the UK, we get content monthly. you are not supposed to get weekly updates. its not that hard.

Frobisher Says! is brilliant – those of you without the preorder code, be sure to download it. I’m sure you’ll get the dlc too, worth every single penny.

And Jawad, any word on Tombi or any upcoming sales? Planning to get £50 worth of PSN credit so make it so that I have lots of stuff to use it on!

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:27

No Tombi and no LoD updates for PAL. Sorry.

A New Update Same Old Shocking Update For PS VITA Gamers

flashfumoLIVE 02 May, 2012 @ 13:23

SSJ3_Bob_Marley 02 May, 2012 @ 13:24

Meh, nothing for me. Waiting for the PS+ May sale.

Is Max Payne only available on PS3, or can it be played on Vita? I see no reason for the latter as it is available on iTunes (for £2…) and will soon be out on Android. I would much rather be able to put it on my Vita than have to carry around my tablet with a DualShock 3

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:28

PS3. It’s a PS2 version; the mobile version is different.

*Auditorium HD

Shadow_Alpha 02 May, 2012 @ 13:25

Nice update as always, but when will you guys, bring Chrono Cross, PSOne Classics to the EU side. D: I still am waiting for that game to be distributed here, the US has it, how come we at EU can’t have it?

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:29

Square Enix have not decided on a EU release. Feel free to comment on their blogs for a release.

Will there be Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep and Final Fantasy Crisis Core in the PSN … so for PSP and Vita … till now its just UMD only and I´d like to have it for Vita, too ..

No Legend of Dragoon? I wish I could say I’m suprised… :(

Hi Jawad, i know this is a bit off topic but i cannot find “new weapon pack 3″ for Dynasty Warriors 7. Has it been taken down? Did you no it was missing & will it be put back on. With that specific item down i cannot get the some of the other dlc because you need that one aswell, again its the NEW WEAPON PACK 3.

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:51

Forward on to the right folks.

TwinBlade04 02 May, 2012 @ 13:26

Hey there!
Well, it happened again :P. I can’t add funds via my card. I tried what you suggested last time and waited for a week, but it still doesn’t work. This seems to happen randomly.

Any help?
Thanks in advance and sorry for bugging you with this again, Jawad! :)

Jawad Ashraf 03 May, 2012 @ 14:53

It may be worth checking with your bank if it no longer let’s you use it on the store at all and assuming the waiting game also does not work. If you are in hurry to buy something then maybe purchase a PSN card for the time being?

I hope it works out for you though.

Will the Mortal Kombat (9) DLC get a discount, like the american store had awhile ago?

also maybe it would make sense to push the plus blog post to the top and give it some attention from someone in case of issues

James Gallagher 02 May, 2012 @ 13:33

That’s a very good idea – consider it done.

Price/size of Mortal Kombat please!!! Also, what time will it be available?

Another question is, when will we get 32gb Vita cards in the UK, please?
