See The First Trailer For Call Of Duty: Black Ops Declassified On PS Vita

If you’re a PlayStation Vita owner – or if you are a Call of Duty fan looking for an excuse to become one – you’re going to want to see this. The first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified just debuted at the Sony PlayStation press conference in Cologne, Germany, and now it’s on your internets. Look!

If you want to watch it again, I’ll wait. There was a lot to see in there.

Developed by the team at Nihilistic Software, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is what Call of Duty fans have been waiting for: the game they know and love, authentically translated to handheld. “One of Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified’s compelling features is the fact that you can take the established gameplay everyone knows and loves and bring it to the PS Vita,” says the game’s producer at Activision, Neven Dravinski. That means you can look forward to familiar elements like Create-a-Class, Perks, Prestige Levels, and of course, twin analog stick controls.

Black Ops Declassified’s single-player campaign offers covert missions that help bridge the story gap between the original Call of Duty: Black Ops and the soon-to-be-released Call of Duty: Black Ops II, while the multiplayer offers mayhem for up to eight players over Wi-Fi connections. “We’ll have a variety of game modes and maps, including some that are custom made for PS Vita and others that leverage fan favorites from the Black Ops series, but tailor made for PS Vita,” explains Dravinski. Multiplayer game modes include 4v4 Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, and Drop Zone, but Dravinski says there will be other modes as well.

The dev team is making sure that Declassified takes advantage of key PS Vita features, too. The game will use the touchscreen for melee attacks and will even let you share loadouts with your friends via Near technology.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified is due out this November, so you don’t have too long to wait to try it yourself. In the meantime, watch the PlayStation.Blog for more info – a deeper look at the game is coming soon.

Did you enjoy this?

Looks like CoD.

Sounds like CoD.

Will most likely place like CoD.

That an’t a bad thing if your looking for a quick fix on the bus!

Err why show the PSP versions graphics?

UltimaDTG 14 August, 2012 @ 9:04 pm   4

Just realised why I recognise the name Nihilistic Software… kinda get why it was kept secret for so long lol. Seriously, wiki them and enjoy a list of accomplishments that epitomise mediocrity (at the high point of their existence… 12 years ago) it kinda goes downhill from there. Pessimism ftw

Im not really a fan of call of duty as such, but aint 4 vs 4 over wifi a little low? COD’s graphics are never that impressive so surely theres some juice in the vita to have say 16 vs 16?

Coody-Baroody 14 August, 2012 @ 9:19 pm   6

Killzone looks a million miles better than this and that doesnt bode well. Us Vita owners really need games like this and Assassins Creed to do well for other 3rd party devs to jump on board with the Vita. This looks kinda turd!

Nihilistic did the Resistance Vita game too and that was disappointing to say the least. ESPECIALLY the multiplayer. 4v4 is small but fine if done well and if its anything like Resistance it’ll be terrible.

Call of Duty on the Vita couldve been a game changer for the system and turn the tide.

It still could but after playing Resistance….

XDerKleineX 14 August, 2012 @ 9:20 pm   7

You know something is wrong when Gameloft can make a better CoD clone on iOS and Android a year before the real thing on Vita…

Kaffikjelen 14 August, 2012 @ 9:40 pm   8

Yes! I had hoped it was developed by Nihilistic, they have such a fantastic reputation! /sarcasm
Only a framerate of 60 FPS would excuse those graphics, but I guess that would be unrealistic, to say the least.

smallgaffer 14 August, 2012 @ 9:43 pm   9

No Last stand perk, please!

jonny_hart_digit 14 August, 2012 @ 9:44 pm   10

this looks good like resistance looks good, but its not.

What !, ok, i get it NOW, you’s said (back in Jan/Feb) there was a cod game ‘coming’ to the vita, But you forgot to mention it will be a standalone, vita only version, lol.. i actually thought you’s meant a, .. you know cod game, like a tie-in with the Real one, maybe use your ‘character’ from blops2 on a ‘quick’ online (or two) matches while travelling/waiting, or just Anywhere theres wi-fi, WHY do i feel so Stupid for believing in this, i am usually more ‘shrewd/wiser (maybe)’, But i can’t help but feel i have had ‘the voice’ trick used on me, hear one thing, but it kinda turns out meaning absolutely nothing i ‘thought’ it did. Also who is the dev ?. don’t really want to google etc, like mentioned above. But again i just kinda assumed it would (Have to) involve IW or (is it ?) Activision, ?.. or the other one anyways.

So, in a nutshell, it Isn’t ‘another’ cod game/extension, just a mp fps that can use ‘some’ cod/ops maps, loadouts and other stuff.. Very, Very clever play on words, But obviously that ‘trick’ stops working, fast. what next i wonder.

CassyChan 14 August, 2012 @ 10:13 pm   12

Certainly a meh trailer. The most generic FPS footage possible of people shooting other people in generic maps, looks like pretty much all the assets have just been recycled from Black Ops too. The main CoD entries always show off great voice acting, new locations with some nice environments, new little gameplay features, characters, premise for the story etc. All this shows is the most bland and uninspired footage possible of people shooting other people. Looks like this is going to be a toally stripped down cash-in outsourced to a cheap developer, which is a shame. I was hoping it would at least have a campaign and/or zombies 🙁

Will probably be fun for those solely into the multiplayer though, but tbh mp isn’t really an on-the-go kind of thing and if someone’s playing it at home they may aswell play the bigger and better home console/PC version.

XDerKleineX 14 August, 2012 @ 10:16 pm   13

@CassyChan what’s kind of worrying is that the trailer doesen’t show any Killstreak rewards as far as I can see, wich are kind of a big part of CoDs multiplayer (nowadays)…

FINALSHIMTEAR88 14 August, 2012 @ 10:30 pm   14

Exactly what constitutes unique features? Analogue sticks? Touch screen? You know you’ve got a watered down video game on your hands when developers get to talking about features and leave hardware out of the mix. Graphics-shmaphics, potato potata! Visual presentation matters just as much as gameplay! If the game is ugly then the gameplay and story need to justify it’s hideous appearance! This is COD! A cinematic braindead (FUN!) experience. This is a lazy excuse of a video game and its sickening that a company like SONY would pass this as a game worthy of being released at all. Whats even worse is SONY execs talking about it as a vita seller. Give me a job so I can turn your gaming division around coz this issssh is ridiculous. Kudos to Killzone and its developers. Thats worth every penny and even if the game tanks at least I’ll know they freagin tried to make a good game.

Age: 24
Status: Frustrated with games.
PS: I can’t believe I just lost my forum posting virginity talking about this

This looks awful to be honest but I’m glad its coming as it will keep the generic CoD kids happy and hopefully subject us to less of their moaning about how big a “fail” the “weak” & “broken” Vita is! 😉

4v4? Weak, like everything else looks to be.

Watered down versions of console games not gonna sell a Vita to me. When you drop the VIta price, cut the memory card prices down to the standard memory card prices (about 25% of what Sony charge) and come out with unique original games that aren’t watered down console games…people might actually care.

Vita bombing and you know it Sony, suck it up and fix it.

GeneralLaplante 14 August, 2012 @ 11:41 pm   17

It looks great but i noticed that there were no hitmarkers

I really feel sorry for the guys behind this game knowing that the Killzone: Mercenary trailer was shown in the same conference. Not to be harsh, but this looks horrible.

dirtyCAT79 15 August, 2012 @ 2:07 am   19

I agree with most people here.

This is Sony really showing why they are at the bottom of the pile right now. Stupid management decisions like this.

WHY get Nihilistic to make Burning Skies? Why take a risk on a company like this to make the game that was supposed to thrust the vita into the limelight instead of destroy its reputation.

Here we have Black Ops II – a game that many of us thought would be the turning point we have been waiting for….. and its made by the people that produced the worst value for money game the system has to offer.

Sony said themselves that they weren’t trying to compete with the app store and its cheaply priced mobile games. They said that instead they wanted to bring Console quality titles to the Vita (and charge console prices)…. well with Burning Skies we got a very mediocre mobile experience at a mobile price.

I really don’t think many people will be holding their breath for this after today’s announcement. The only thing that can really save this game now is if it’s priced VERY competatively because once people see Nilhilistic on the lable, theyare going to think twice about the purchase no matter how strong the COD brand name is.

robbenslb 15 August, 2012 @ 2:29 am   20

A Vita is capable of more than that. COD: Black Ops Declassified seems like no more than an average PSP game.

AshishSahoo 15 August, 2012 @ 5:47 am   21

Hope they do a better job on this than the Resistance BS (Burning Skies).
Although to be fair , it looks much better than Resistance BS which itself was a good shooter without story, just like COD. One shouldn’t dismiss the game based on developers pedigree . They can always do better and can make a better game now that they are more familiar with vita.
Good luck to them!
Also people here should know better than to dismiss a game even before playing a demo. I bet nihilistic has their necks on the line for this. People sometimes tend to work better with swords hanging on their heads.
Also multiplayer should have been better.

GutsBerserker 15 August, 2012 @ 9:37 am   22

I’m feeling bad for the Vita, this beautiful hardware doesn’t deserve what Activision is throwing at them.

Good luck selling it at full price.

J_A_S_O_N_123 15 August, 2012 @ 10:30 am   23

Graphics look horrible, and it’s being made by the same people behind Resistance burning skies, so I wouldn’t expect much

VitalogyPJ 15 August, 2012 @ 10:33 am   24

I saw PS1 games better looking than this game -.-

TINTINTB303 15 August, 2012 @ 11:59 am   25

Just check out the school bus and vehicles about 24 seconds in. They are copy and paste jobs straight out of Resistance: Burning Skies!!
Major fail!!

CassyChan 15 August, 2012 @ 1:29 pm   26

@TINTINTB303 seriously?!! Then it looks like EVERYTHING from this game has been recycled, from both Black Ops and Resistance, this has to be the cheapest, rushed, stripped down cash-in I’ve ever seen on a portable. Vita’s such a great console, sucks that it’s not getting many of the home console quality games Sony promised us.

Lack of good third party support could kill the Vita the same way lack of good third party support killed the Dreamcast. Hopefully AC: Liberation and others will make the Vita a more worthwhile purchase because so far mine has been gathering dust for the past several weeks and will be till October.

hugh1111 15 August, 2012 @ 3:20 pm   27

Watched this trailer last night and was deeply disappointed based solely on the graphics. Watched and instantly thought i was watching Resistance BS; poor graphics, poor colour palette etc etc and guess what?? yes thats right its Nihilistic Software again. Why oh why Sony / Activision? Reading through all the comments made here the vast majority generally say the same thing “underwhelmed & extremely disappointed”. Wheres the Uncharted GA level of graphical quailty? push this quality little device to its max!!! make this game what the consumers deserve and the vita needs to boost its sales. I really really hope im wrong about this game but mediocre springs to mind. Prove me wrong, kick Nihilistics ass from now to November and ensure they develop this game beyond their usual average. Fingers crossed!!!

TINTINTB303 15 August, 2012 @ 4:41 pm   28

@CassyChan Yes,seriously.

I’m confused. So do you agree that it looks pants then?

Why the attitude?!?

TRUe-Soldier_SH 23 August, 2012 @ 5:34 pm   29

I have been looking forward for this game to come out! But after seeing the trailer i have changed my mind! the vita can do so much better graphics than that! And you have no zombies in sight!! Why is this??
