So, here’s my problem. I love playing video games. However, life has an irritating habit of getting in the way of me enjoying said pastime. I’ve got a busy job (no, really!), a wife who derives little enjoyment from sitting in the lounge watching me headshot the Helghast, and a (reasonably) active social life that keeps me away from the sofa a fair few evenings every week. Making time for gaming can be a challenge.
Duly, I really appreciate it when a game doesn’t outstay its welcome. You often read complaints when a new shooter launches with a main campaign that only lasts four or five hours. You know what? If those five hours are absolutely flab-free and packed tight with pure entertainment, then I’m more than happy to hand over my £40. Of course, I love a meaty timesink every now and then, but generally I admire developers that know when it’s time to wrap things up.
Your topic for this week then:
How many hours of entertainment do you expect from a full price game? What’s more important – quantity or quality?
The prize this week is apt, given the inordinate amount of time I expect to pour into the game in question. The five most thoughtful or amusing posts win a Borderlands 2 swag bag, featuring a copy of the game along with all manner of extras, including T-shirts, a baseball cap, a canvas duffle bag, playing cards, a USB stick and plenty more besides. See the images below for a taster.
It’s a great prize around a great game – expect to see this one really blow up when it launches on 21st September.
