New Gran Turismo 5 DLC – Drive the Corvette C7 Test Prototype

For weeks now, members of GTplanet  have been speculating about the mysterious discovery of a camouflaged Corvette C7 appearing on the game’s screen saver session.

Well the rumours are true – officially announced today at the LA Auto Show, Chevrolet and Polyphony Digital have been working very closely for months in developing an exclusive first-hand driving experience by offering a camouflaged Corvette C7 Test Prototype in Gran Turismo 5. The DLC is now available for free through the PlayStation Store.

With spy photos valued at an estimated $100,000, Chevrolet has gone to extreme measures to disguise the test car. In fact, a designated Corvette design team was tasked with developing custom camouflage to conceal the new design elements.

The concealed test prototype continues to undergo extensive performance and durability testing in preparation for final production. Millions of hours will be accumulated through thousands of rigorous performance trials before the car is released later in 2013.

Until now, only a handful of the most skilled drivers on the Corvette team have been authorised to push the test prototype to the limits on the most challenging tracks in the world, including the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife- one of the core testing grounds for C7’s driving dynamics.

Now you can also be part of that exclusive experience by heading over to the PS Store and downloading the exclusive Corvette C7 Test Prototype.

Chevrolet will introduce the 2014 Corvette on Sunday, 13th January 2013. For more information and video content, please visit Enthusiasts can join the conversation about the next-generation Corvette and keep track of new announcements on Facebook and Twitter @Chevrolet (#Corvette).

Hi Ken,

It certainly is camouflaged and mysterious.

The tech wizards at SCEE have failed to upload it to the store.

Looks cool though.

I sad to report that this content is not available on our Europen store. Please be kind enough to check it for us please. Thanks.

Thank you DEKOWOLF (and everybody else) to report this issue, we are in the process of fixing it. Thank you for your patience.

Will any new premium dlc be available any time soon?

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:22

Hi Farhad_Khan_,

If for “Premium DLC” you mean Premium Cars, this one it is. :)

The store post earlier said it is out tomorrow, however that part has since been removed from the post.

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:20

Hi KylieDog,

The DLC will be available shortly, it should also appear automatically in your Download List if you have already tried to download it.

Not in the EU psn store. I checked and it is in the NA store. Please put it in so we can test it out tonight :)

Yes I found it, no I didn’t.
It was on the release list but then it disappear (ofcourse without an explanation). So I guess we’ll get is in a month or 2.

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:25

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:27

As soon as we’ve fixed this issue, you will get it immediately. :)

Its up on the Australian store, but unavailable to download when I attempt to download it…

in true pantomime fashion , oh no it isn’t ……its on the store maybe but once again another mistake, the new store says no content found, do you guys at sony have any faith in getting this new store and content working as good as the old store we had.

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:31

We are very sorry for this delay, we would never want to disappoint our fans. For a bit of good news, I have been told by the Store team that this will be fixed shortly.

I thank you once again for your patience. :(

C7 has been made available, but not available, we can see it on the store, but are unable to download it. Thanks for the tease.

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:38

Hi fgtiger,

I know, this isn’t as we had planned it. =(

But it’s a fantastic car to drive, I am sure once you have it in your garage you would agree with me that it was worth the little extra wait. :)

M3RL1NS_N3M3S1S 29 November, 2012 @ 06:52

first off i wanna say i love gran turismo, always have and always will, i own all the gt games including tourist trophy. but i have to say i’ve been less then impressed with the DLC for GT5, where are the new tracks? yeah we got a few, but there’s so many more that have been in previous games that would be awesome to have in GT5. and a whole blog post for 1 car? really? come on guys, we have the money if you have the right DLC ;)

whoo nice car

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:37

Hi VaCo_Styx,

Thank you for the positive feedback. :D

So it’s not on our store? Guessing it will go up today, but if not that’ll be a kick in the teeth seeing as the sales over here dwarf those in other regions.

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:33

Hi vonhammer,

You are correct in your guessing, the DLC will be available for all EU region today. Actually, the issue we had could be already fixed by now.

I hope you’ll enjoy taking the C7 out for a spin!

Also need more black mask versions.

Hmmm, would be nice if we could actually download it.
Any chance the pre-order Stealth cars (and Chromeline for that matter) will ever make it onto the store? Its been two years since GT5 released so surely they should be made available now to those who couldn’t afford/justify or missed Signature Edition

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:34

Hi Opt1mus76,

It’s a good suggestion, although we can’t make any promises at this stage we can definitely look into it. :)

there is a problem with the gt5 dlc. as ive got it but was empty when it wanted to download. it isnt in servics list eather.

so i think the dlc is broken

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:35

Your thinking is correct, as you might have seen from my previous replies we are aware of the issue and are working to fix it. Hopefully it won’t take much longer. :)

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 10:52

Hello everybody,

I can confirm that the DLC is now available on our PS Store.

If you have “purchased” it in the past few hours, in order to download it please go to [Account Manager] from the XMB, then [Download List] and proceed to download it from there.

The download might have a corrupted image associated to it but this won’t have any effect on your file.

Thank you once again for your patience, and I hope you can enjoy the C7 now (finally!)

Hey Daniele,

39 minutes from acknowledging problem to resolution.

Top work fella, thank you.

@Customer Support

Are you seeing this? he he

Daniele Tacconi 29 November, 2012 @ 11:43

Hi sem1471,

Thank you for the nice words, big props to the Store team too for having put the fix in place so quickly. :)

Er found it :-D + Is it just me? or is it harder to find things on the New PSN Store? :-( I went to ‘Latest PS3 Add-Ons’ & nothing on the main 3 pages(so if i never so this i would of not known it existed really) then you have to scroll 3 pages right & go to ‘All Latest Add-Ons’ then press ‘Sort’ then select – ‘Release date: Newest first'(if not you will waste even more time looking for it) :D then click on ‘Download’ then etc etc…anyway thanks ‘PD’ for the New Car :-P I love GT5;)

@21 …(so if i never ‘saw’ this i would…) i meant :D

Ok, you got me. Just the once mind,

(Big gulp)

thank you store team!

(boy did that hurt)

he he
