Rapid Angel blesses PSN with its presence today

MonkeyPaw Games is always looking for something to twist your mind a little. A game that makes you wonder ‘who came up with this?’. Luckily, there is no shortage of weird and wonderful curios from the land of Japan. And today we’re pleased to bring you the next of our “subliminally strange but always pleasing” Japanese imports for the PSN section.

Rapid Angel will debut, today, 21st December, at the reasonable price of £3.99/€4.99.

Anime characters set the scene in this captivating action beat ’em up. Choose between three heroines, each with their own fighting style and personality. There is much nuanced charm and detail here.

The gameplay goes back to the old days of running, jumping and fighting, picking up gems and coins for points, and food to replenish your life. The graphics, meanwhile, are very stylish and well-crafted. This combination of side-scrolling fisticuffs and addictive platforming has something special for those with a subtle eye for Japanese ingenuity.

Attention to detail is a mark of every great game and Rapid Angel has been made with that quality in ample portion. Anime humor is present throughout, like the sweat drops appearing on your character when the enemy does something totally awkward or strange.

The characters all have strong personalities and we hope anime fans will fall for their idiosyncrasies. Each protagonist has a huge array of moves, blocks, powers and subtle nuances that make this game unique and fun to play again and again. That’s something that retro fans can truly embrace.

Our games from the Japanese vault might be of a different generation and culture but their quality and timelessness endure. We believe Rapid Angel is a game worthy of your collection. Check it out today!

what time is it? 1986?

Playable on psvita?

We have the license to publish the game on the Vita so its just a matter of it getting through queue. Its hard for us to tell that schedule but in due time they all get up.

alice_push_lara2 21 December, 2012 @ 11:36

PlayStation Plus

Mortal Kombat (PS Vita) – 100% discount
Knytt Underground – 100% discount

They will be available after today’s Store publish, which takes place this afternoon.

@alice_push_lara2 you will have to wait for the store update which will be at the same time as wednesdays but ni find them when serching sometime after 1pm uk time

Will this games be playable on Vita?

What plans for future releases do you have?

As stated above, it should be playable on Vita, we just don’t have a schedule yet.
As far as other games, we do have a slew of news ones coming. In fact, Dezaemon Kids! was supposed to release this past Wednesday but we don’t see it. Now checking. This is the excellent sequel to Dezaemon Plus!. These are shooters, with an elaborate editor so you can make your own schmups. Kids! comes with 102 free sample games that are really a blast.
Rapid Angels is very tight as well. A great play. Give it a shot!

as somebody already posted, mortal kombat is already free for vita. just use the search, i saw it in the webstore searching for mortal kombat vita.

There really is a storm of 8-bit retro-games lately. Sorry Monkeypaw, but I’m not a fan of that genre. It may have excellent gameplay and lots of twists, but the PS3 and Vita are really beyond that blocky graphics style now.
I still hope your game will get the audience it deserves, but please go for full color and HD next time.

We’ve thought about bringing back some retro with full color and HD. Its a pretty big gamble. Not sure if it would work but we’re willing to try. You may see one this coming year.
In the meantime, ignore the graphics and just have a good time. Its a good game.

I was able to download both MK and Knytt from the Vita game search (not IGC) for free as of 11:20 am (UK).

On subject; £3.99? Take my money, this looks right up my street!

Thanks. You won’t be disappointed!

Thanks! Its a solid game. You’ll enjoy.

yep got both new plus stuff on ps3 store just search both free

@Ray Almeda

great the see the rest off em getting released here.
any chance you guys publishing the japanese imports gungho online entertainment has been bringing 2 U.S.

Hey dgnfly,
Nice to see you here again. Been a while. We were always on track to bring the majority of our games to the EU, it just seems like it takes a long time. You guys always have to wait. That’s why we wanted to get Tomba 2 out to you first. At least there is some justice!

Regarding the Gungho titles, we were a little surprised they brought those over but they have a new US office. They should eventually get them to you. We’re happy more JP titles are coming. Let’s just try to get the import store back up ;)

This is a quality little game. Shame I can’t play it on my Vita though :(

We think this is just a matter of time.

Please answer my following questions:
1) Vita support?
2) Trophies?

1. Vita should be coming.
2. No trophies, this is an emulation.

Why has Tomba 1 and 2 doubled in price on the australian store?

Its doubled because the first price was a mistake. This has been corrected. We wish we could offer it cheaper but we have to pay the licensor. We were losing a lot with each sale.

hey guys thanks for the Mortal KOmbat tip for ps plus.downloading right now :D

@ alice_push_lara2
mortal kombat is not available in australia

Hi Ray
Great new game, Christmas keeps on coming on the playstation blog with all these new games. :)

Glad to be a Playstation gamer and a massive fan of Sony, simply because playstation is the overall best gaming platform. With amazing and fun friendly video gamin entertainment with consoles like Playstation, Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 to the incredible and portable experiance of Pocket station, PlayStation portable, PlayStation vita and PlayStation mobile there is no doubt that Sony are the clear winners in gaming. With awesome 1st, 2nd and 3rd party support to the wonderful and helpful people who give up there time to blog PlayStation news for all of us true PlayStation gamers out there.
Thank you very much happy holidays everyone. LongLivePlay Sony make.believe

By overall I mean PlayStation is the winners with the best exclusive games like uncharted, infamous, little big planet to games like God of war, Killzone, resistance to amazing new IPs in the future like the last of us. Sony gives you the best services like crackle, Music unlimited, video unlimited and Sony Entertainment Network account integration. PlayStation 3 has the best audio sound with sony being also a music and filming company. Sony PlayStation is by far the overall best console no console manufacturer can beat the power of the PlayStation. LongLivePlay Sony make.believe :)

Hey declan, Great post. We are firm believers as well. Your comments are all very true. Microsoft has done well with the Xbox of course but there is a sameness the permeates most of their games. FPS is so dominant and the lack of Japanese support is a huge negative. Because Sony has been so global in their approach, it takes a little off the marketing edge that MS has achieved but as far as games are concerned, the board variety available on PS makes them the winner. Sony’s development teams are clearly superior to MS’s few (albeit good ones). There are a lot of haters out there and some people just like to bitch. But at the end of the day, a positive outlook and analysis is a much stronger argument. Thanks for your comment and thank you to Sony as well. You guys are doing a great job in a tough environment. Happy Holiday.

@Ray Almeda

well your timing with them isen’t 2 bad compared with SCEE usual ps1 games that take 5 year you guys sure do it speedy compared 2 them.

i asked gungho online for those title’s they said:At this time there is no plan, but if there is enough interest, that may change. Our headquarters would have to get permission from the original licensors to release in additional territories. We will keep everyone updated if that changes.

in like a possiblity they won’t release it. might it be possible for you guys 2 do it? cause at the moment it’s most likely only me asking kinda feels like 1 man against a mountain.

Not sure why they wouldn’t bring them to the EU store, quite actually. It does require a little more work but its not difficult. Almost all our licensors give us EU rights as well. So I think they’ll get them out when they get the time. They are fresh out of the blocks, new company in US. But we do know them so we will mention EU distribution to them. We’re with you buddy!!

” Let’s just try to get the import store back up”

it should Never ever be a sham in the 1st But the fault Lays with SCEE & Square Enix.

@Ray anyword on lunar 1 & lunar 2-eternal blue.

asap it gets Vita certification im in…

infernalmonkey1 22 December, 2012 @ 04:01

Must be frustrating for developers and publishers on this blog when their articles get flooded with comments about completely unrelated things. “Duh hurr where’s Mortal Kombat?!”

Thanks for bringing this one over, MonkeyPaw! I was watching some videos of it a few days ago, looks like a lot of fun. Will buy when it’s playable on Vita. =) Also, been playing Shienryu recently, oh wow it’s so good!

Hi Ray
Thank you very much for the reply I mean everything I said.

I’m so glad you agree with me and I would like others to as well. In my school in scotland everyone likes xbox when I always say PlayStation is the best console, with great games, services etc but they always say ” xbox is the best even the whole world loves it ” etc like that. I know that sony is the best and PlayStation is the best multi-platform gaming console it’s way better than xbox and Nintendo. Even PlayStation has more subscribers on YouTube with 400,000, xbox has 100,000 and nintendo 180,000. But sony has better 1st, 2nd and 3rd party platinums.

Thank you very much ray enjoy your Christmas all the best for 2013. :) LongLivePlay Sony make.believe
