Rain: Take a look at the first gameplay trailer

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since we first announced rain at Gamescom last August, but ever since then we’ve been working hard to ensure the wait for more information was worthwhile.

rain was developed by the creative minds from PlayStation C.A.M.P!,  the team behind unique titles like TOKYO JUNGLE and echochrome. rain evolved from a truly unique concept where an imaginative world comes to life once is starts raining.

The story of rain is the enchanting tale of a boy who chases after a girl with an invisible silhouette. After discovering that the girl is being hunted by ghostly creatures, he embarks on his own journey into the mysterious world of rain to save her and discovers he has also become invisible.

Players will play as the boy, whose silhouette can only be seen in the rain. Using the unique ability to appear and disappear under cover players must learn to navigate through the unknown to advance. Just like in the real world, what can be seen isn’t everything and using imagination is the only way to reveal the truth.

Move your cursor over each image below to reveal the world of rain.

Throughout the game you will be challenged to think ahead and plan your movements to advance. For example, when you direct the boy underneath cover, he will disappear from enemy view, or to draw enemies away from your path you may need step into the rain to become visible or can pick up items to taunt them.

More details will be shared on these mechanics and puzzles at a later date. However, we are pleased to share with you – for the first time – our first gameplay video from the beginning of the game, “The Children and the Night”.  Make sure to turn your speakers up to get the full experience!

The world of rain is full of “uncertainty” and as you play through the boy will experience both a sense of fear and excitement as he explores the unknown world.  Told through an artistic approach to narration, rain’s expressive sounds, those of rainfall and splashing water, combined with this otherworldly tale is designed to awaken the sense of uncertainty and solitude inherent in every player as well.

This week at Game Developers Conference in San Francisco we will also be showing our first live demo to media, so keep an eye out for even more news on rain. We are very excited to have shared these early details and are looking forward to providing you a deeper look at the game very soon.

It’s about time we see some news on this. Love the video. Just a few questions.
1) Is this a download only game?
2) Will it have a platinum?
3) When could we be expecting a release date?
4) Is it a PS3 game only or out for PS4 also?

Any chance we’ll see this on PSVita?
This would be a must have title for me if so.

I agree. The Vita needs more unique games like this. Would be good to have this as an addition to its current list of wierd and wonderful titles.

This looks like another BRILLIANT PlayStation Exclusive game! :P :P :P
The PlayStation brand is the BEST!!!;)
15 years this week i got my 1st PlayStation console(i.e the PS1) & i still get excited by the PlayStation brand, well done SONY;)

First I’ve heard of this title, looks amazing! Full of atmosphere, I agree with KRadiation. > Shut up and take my money!

This is exactly what we need, more original, new and fresh content!

The game we’ve been looking for. Adventure, horror, stealt, compelling story, atmospheric and eerie, wonderful visuals and what’s shaping upto be the best audio track in a long time.

Looks like it could be a winner. Should be. Will be.

Any idea on a release date / console and more importantly – duration of game and replayability?

Amazing concept. Definitely looking forward to it.

Even though I’ve been on a downer knowing my content wont carry over to the next gen, and because of that I find it difficult buying anything off the store.
But sometimes you’ve got to let things go, and this will be one of the two or three digital titles I’ll support on PS3.

PS3 version for me ! i like games on my nice 37 inch screen :)

It sounds like he has shoes on but the footprints he makes are bare feet. That needs fixed. Other than that though, looks very interesting. :-)

This is why I have PlayStation as my gaming platform of choice, completely unique experiences and the willingness to try something new.

This looks like it’s gonna be a good’un, keep it up.

PS. Keep your PS3 then you don’t have to worry about losing your content.
