The Weekend Debate

UPDATE: Many thanks everyone for taking part this week – there were chuckles aplenty. The Guacamelee! code winners are: Lunastra78 (post 24), Solid_Snake1987 (33), psychobudgie (48), RanmaSaotome123 (72) and L_M_B (170). Expect to receive your code as a PM to your profile on the official forum some time on Wednesday after the weekly Store update.

ORIGINAL POST: No doubt like many of you, I jumped eagerly into BioShock Infinite this week. It’s a fantastic game, of course, but it has got me thinking: why on earth do the residents of Columbia toss so much loose change, live ammunition, life-saving medicine and perfectly edible snackfood items into the trash? Every rubbish bin is packed to the gills with loot! A vagrant’s promised land, to be sure.

On that note, your debate topic for the week: What’s your favourite oddball gaming cliché?

Terrorist groups’ insistence on leaving clearly-signposted explosive barrels around their HQs, perhaps? RPG heroes’ ability to craft highly sophisticated weaponry from a lump of coal, a length of copper wire and half a ham sandwich? The notion that a chicken drumstick can magically cure multiple stab wounds and massive blunt force trauma? Sound off below.

This week’s prize for the most entertaining responses? It’s a good ‘un. I’ve got five codes for Guacamelee! – the awesome (and cliché-free) new platformer from Tales from Space developer Drinkbox Studios, due out next Wednesday on PS3 and PS Vita, with Cross Buy. Check out our recent Guacamelee! blog post for more information, or have a gander at the trailer below. Good luck!
