Hohokum set to charm on PS3, PS4 and PS Vita in 2014

Hohokum on PS3, PS4, and PS Vita

It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce Hohokum as a Sony Santa Monica project, coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita in 2014!

It’s kind of awesome to be able to finally say that. We have been working away on the game for the last year, maintaining strict radio silence. Before that we had a Hohokum-sabbatical in order to make Frobisher Says for PS Vita. So it has been around two years since the public saw anything of Hohokum – when it was an IGF finalist and then followed by Indiecade in the US.

But now the cat is out of the bag! I guess it was in the summer of 2011 at Indiecade that our involvement with Santa Monica Studio began. We have come quite a long way since then and they are still the perfect fit to be working with on this game.

Hohokum on PS3, PS4, and PS Vita

Hohokum is a collaboration between artist Richard Hogg and Honeyslug, a London-based game studio. It’s a whimsical, colorful game with an emphasis on playful exploration and creativity. You take on the role of a curious flying snake-like character. A technicolour, calligraphic, worm-like, kite-like being! The way you move around the world is very expressive and kinetic and kind of mesmerising to play.

One of the main aims for Hohokum is to create something where the usual pressures of videogames – constantly being told to do things, fearing failure and being challenged to earn progress – were all absent. This is quite a challenge, but we’re really excited about how it’s coming together. There are goals and secrets to discover. There are even trophies. But at its heart, Hohokum is a playground, a place to wander about, perhaps even lose yourself in.

We can’t wait to show people all the new additions in Hohokum at E3.

This looks like a bizarre experience which you’d probably have to play rather than watch to know what the *BEEP* was going on.

will this be a triple buy title and will you be able to cross save/cross play across PS4/PS3/PSVita ?.

Seems very interesting. Hope we won’t have to wait long before we can see some gameplay to really show off what this game is about.

very interesting game can’t wait. these are the epic games that separate the playstation franchise from others. the visuals remind me very much of locoroco :P what ever happened to the game :'( come on you have to reboot it for the vita. use the touch screen to split and join the locoroco’s and instead of using L and R to launch your self using the bouncy tower things, use the touch screen to ‘pull’ them down and launch the locoroco. japan studios should hire me over the summer while i wait for my A-level results that would be awesome :D !

Another charmer, SCEE must really like my money because I’ve been spending more than ever on PSN lately, looks like that trend will be keeping up for a good while yet :D

Thanks for all the nice comments! We are pretty sure that it will be cross-buy. There is a trailer coming soon.

A PS4 Cross-Buy? ;)

has a certain Noby Noby Boy vibe to it. I’m intrigued.

Love the design, and fantastic that its coming for Vita, Vita needs more love from developers, its a fantastic device.
