Bi-weekly PlayStation Store indie deals start tomorrow

Hello PlayStation community. I’m Guy Richards from the Developer Relations team here at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. This means I work with developers to help them bring their gaming experiences and ideas to PlayStation platforms!

As part of our continued support for indie games on PlayStation Store, we are running a sale on a few of our favourite indie platformers. From this Wednesday 5th June, you can grab yourself a copy of Pid, Topatoi and Zack Zero each for heavily discounted prices!

Check out the discounted games below, along with details from their developers on what makes them so fun to play! These offers will run for two weeks and then replaced with a fresh batch of offers, so please keep checking back to find out what’s coming up next.

Pid, (Was €9.99/£7.99, now €5.99/£4.79, additional 30% saving for PS Plus members)
Sadir Samir, Might and Delight:
“So we at Might and Delight are all huge retro game fans. We grew up playing games on the NES, SNES etc. We have a love and respect for games like the Mega Man series and the original Bionic Commando, amongst others. When several of us got the opportunity to make a re-make on Bionic Commando back at Grin Studios we jumped with joy!

“The game was a blast to work on and the response it got was awesome! So when Grin shut down, it felt natural for us to start a new studio and create a new retro platformer that paid homage to the great games of that era.

“Pid itself draws its inspiration from a lot of different mediums, such as books, comics, art etc. We wanted to have a special world that felt really strange and peculiar. The feeling of being in a dream, you could say. That is the main reason for why the art style of the game looks like it looks.

“So if you are a fan of old school platformers, Pid is the title for you. The game is challenging just like games were back in the day. That was always our intention. It makes the feeling of success so much rewarding. Mix that with jazzy music performed by a live band (Retro Family) and you have a neat game that we are very proud of! I hope you guys enjoy it!”

Topatoi, (Was €9.99/£7.99, now €3.99/£3.19, additional 10% saving for PS Plus members)
Alexander Chigorin, Boolat Games:
“Topatoi is a unique puzzle/platformer in full 3D space developed by Boolat Games. We had an idea to make a simple platform game with a spinning-top as a protoganist. We thought it could be a funny and dynamic toy to play with. After some brainstorming, we decided to add a storyline.

“You’re playing for Raph as he attempts to rescue his girlfriend from some villains. He pilots the vehicle that works like a spinning-top, it can spin up, spin down and behave different way depending on it. All you need to do is to solve platform puzzles with the toy under control, but it can be tricky.

“Topatoi has three different modes: Story Mode, Arcade Mode and Multiplayer split screen. In each mode you will find different platform levels to complete. Complete levels, rise up the leaderboards and earn trophies! We wish you a wonderful time playing Topatoi!”

Zack Zero (Was €9.99/£7.99, now €2.99/£2.39, additional 25% saving for PS Plus members)
Carlos Abril, Crocodile Entertainment:
“Zack Zero recovers the essence of classic platform adventures. Travel to evil Zulrog’s world and cross the wild territories of the planet’s surface, enter the dangerous and well-defended enemy base, explore the dark and mysterious caverns, and discover the lava caves and their primitive inhabitants.

“Use the powers of fire, ice and rock, with 10 unique skills that become increasingly powerful as you progress. The game has a straightforward and intuitive control system which captures the spirit of classic platform games:

· Hack’n’Slash: take advantage of the huge variety of attacks available to Zack and use them in a creative way to finish off his enemies, develop the main character to level 20 and reach his maximum power.
· Adventure: find hidden objects in the depths of each level. All challenging for the most experienced of treasure hunters.
· Puzzles: use Zack’s abilities to resolve the different puzzles that you will find on your journey.
· Epic combats with level bosses: the outcome of the adventure is decided facing these terrible rivals. Study their movements, discover their weak points, avoid their attacks and finish them off!”

Very good initiative! Sadly, this first batch is not for me (already got PID and Zack Zero, and Topatoi doesn’t really tickle my fancy), but the bi-weekly sale is splendid!

immergingvirus 04 June, 2013 @ 12:15

any vita indie sales coming up

Pid? I could play some Pid!

I prefer to play such games on VITA, will such offer come there too? I like to play AAAs on PS3 and Indies on VITA :)

Oh yeah, I applaud you for the bi-weekly sale highlighting forgotten/hidden gems of PSN store. There definitely needs to be more ways of getting older content in the spotlight again.

So when will we see a Persona 4 Golden sale? I’ll declare it an indie title if that helps! ;)

Is this still ps4/ps3 blog because i lways see comments about vita even tho it only sold 3 million ps3 sold 100 million and now they already give away 10 game offers on vita just like for the psp go before it was discontinued.

@Indie Deals these are 3 very nice offers and i love the presentation with the videos. thanks.

I already have Topatoi and Zach Zero – is the Topatoi add on going to be on sale as well?

If you actually check at the top of the page it says Playstation Blog (which means that it covers all Playstation devices).

toxic-inferno 04 June, 2013 @ 13:47

Pid looks really interesting and unique! I’ll definitely be picking it up! Not sure how I missed it the first time!

Guy Richards 04 June, 2013 @ 15:50

Pid is really interesting and unique, its great fun to play!

I was interested until I found out none of these are on Vita. Ugh.

Guy Richards 04 June, 2013 @ 15:46

Don’t worry, there will be some PS Vita content included in future deals, just be sure to keep checking back!

Baka_Ja_Nai 04 June, 2013 @ 14:18

Want to improve interaction with EU customers ?

Stop charging up to 30% more for digital releases compared to US.

Also would help if number of titles available for Vita and PS3 in EU wasn’t 2 times less compared to US.

ashton_philip 04 June, 2013 @ 15:02

@8 this is NOT the PS4/3 blog its the PLAYSTATION blog which is to incorporate all things playstation including Vita, PSP and PS Mobile. On topic excited about these deals might pick one of these up and hope to see this initiative head to Vita in the future!

ashton_philip 04 June, 2013 @ 15:04

Plus PS3 hasn’t sold 100 Million more around 77 – 80 million and furthermore it has been out 6 years Vita has been out 1.

theconister 04 June, 2013 @ 15:18

ashton_philip 04 June, 2013 @ 17:33

solarwind12 04 June, 2013 @ 20:13

So, is Journey heading into this sale, have two of above allready, in fact i doubt it was that long ago when i picked zack zero up, and for same price. as for Braid, tried demo but couldn’t really get my head into it.. hoping for some others, that i don’t allready own, but am glad the bi-weekly sales ‘seem’ to be a regular feature, am sure there’ll be many good things to come. and looking forwards to seeing what it’ll be next.

solarwind12 04 June, 2013 @ 20:15

lol, meant Topatio. Not Braid.

good for indie devs

Tender_Brans0n 05 June, 2013 @ 13:37

Zack Zero and Topatio already have their prices adjusted, but Pid is still € 9,99 (in the Dutch store).. Error?

Just bought topatoi and Zack zero but pid is the wrong price!

Guy Richards 06 June, 2013 @ 12:09

Hey, the price for Pid has now been updated. I hope you enjoy the games!
