#DRIVECLUB new trailer and E3 Club Challenge

1

Your reaction to #DRIVECLUB at the #playstation2013 event in February really got everyone at Evolution Studios fired up! We’re so excited to finally be able to show you more of #DRIVECLUB, I can barely contain my hashtags!

We get excited about E3 every year — even to the point of setting up the TVs around the studio to live-stream the whole event so that we can all keep up to speed with what’s hot and what’s new while we work — but this year it’s going to be on a completely new level. Not just because of what ‘NEXT GENERATION’ means for games and PlayStation, but because the game we’ve wanted to make for almost 10 YEARS is going to be there (and so am I, along with a few members of the team)!

I know a lot of you have been dying to see more of #DRIVECLUB in action on PS4 since the announcement, so before I go on to tell you more about what we’re doing at E3, WATCH THIS VIDEO!

We’re not just showing a glimpse of the game at E3! We’re bravely letting everybody who comes to the PS4 experience rooms at E3 play the game! Well, a special demo version of the game we’re calling the E3 Club Challenge. We’re really proud that we’ve got a demo at this stage of development, and it just goes to show that all of the talk about PS4 being “developed for developers” is true!

The E3 Club Challenge started life as a competition at the studio, where the result was the best two clubs get to have half of the #DRIVECLUB experience room dressed up in their club colours, and half of the cars available to play in the demo sporting their club liveries. All Torque No Traction is the inspired name chosen by the highly experienced vehicle and driving team. Spoiler Alert is the signature of the borderline obsessive devoted Quality Assurance team.

The E3 Club Challenge
The event that this finale takes place on is a thrilling road circuit in Kinloch, Scotland – just one of the stunning real-world locations we will feature in the game. Just like all of the tracks in the game, every section of Kinloch serves up a new opportunity to face-off with Clubmates and rivals, to earn bonuses for you and your Club by beating recent times, high speed records or pulling off incredible drifts.

In #DRIVECLUB there’s always something to play for, and as well as these challenges there’s a leaderboard for fastest lap times for the more competitive racers, which will help to decide which team wins the challenge overall. Everyone contributes to this, and at the end of the E3 show we will announce which team wins!

We’re really looking forward to seeing how this plays out and can’t wait for people to get their hands on the game…

Keep up to speed with DRIVECLUB and see all the goings on at E3 on Facebook and Twitter, and let us know what you’re excited for in the comments.

So, as this is going to be the PS Plus launch game, what’s the difference between the Retail/PSN version and the PS Plus edition?

I gather the PS Plus version is restricted/limited in some way?

@chrisboer

I was thinking it must be limited in some way as well, why else would it be called ps plus edition

Really looking forward to this, so happy it’s free with PS+. Also, I thought the location looked very Scottish, glad I was right. Nice to see there’s going to be real world locations in the game, wasn’t sure if it was all just mad up circuits. Good to see. Thanks guys, your game will be the first thing I download when I set up my sexy new PS4 this winter! :D

Still no answers about a single player part of the game.
It probably doesn’t have it. No career mode or anything.

Also, what is a Plus edition of the game? What will we not get?

I was on GAME website looking at the PS4. There are two choices. A PS4 on its own or a package one with Killzone and DriveClub. Can someone explain this PS+ Edition to clear it up? Is DriveClub really the first PS+ game for PS4? My PS+ expires in 2014, would this mean I would get DriveClub or do I need this PS+ Edition?

The difference between the PS Plus and retail edition is some content. With the PS Plus edition you have access to ALL the features, Single Player, Multiplayer and what not. You just get slightly less content, such as cars or race tracks. You still get access to the full game, but with less content, but hey, it’s free with PS Plus.

@shadow_force21

I think there will be an option for £10 or something that will unlock whatever content that your missing
