Last time we stopped by PlayStation Blog, we were shouting about our limited time offer running this summer offering an ENTIRE YEAR OF MUSIC for an incredible £59.99 – or an even cheaper £41.99 for our PS Plus subscribers! That’s at least half the price of a usual subscription for limitless music hardwired into your beloved PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita. Just search for Music Unlimited on the PlayStation store, or head to the Sony Entertainment Network website for more info.

That aside, we’ve been busy catching up with a couple of our favourite bands. First up are Australia’s own sons, Empire of the Sun.

Empire of the Sun
We caught up with Nick on the couch and found out what the duo have been up to since releasing their debut album Walking On A Dream almost five years ago. It turns out they’ve been busy, and new album Ice On The Dune doesn’t fail to deliver on all accounts.

Check out the interview on the PlayStation YouTube page and find out not only what their favourite PlayStation game is, but how Nick could have nearly not been with us at all….

You can listen to Ice On The Dune here.

Kodaline
The Dublin based quartet Kodaline recently released their highly anticipated debut album In A Perfect World to much acclaim. Our lengthy chat with Stephen and Vinny was quite revealing, not only in their approach to writing the album, but their trials and tribulations in trying to complete our own Little Big Planet!

Check out In a Perfect World here.

British Summer Time Festival
This month, Music Unlimited is working in partnership with the British Summer Time Festival in Hyde Park featuring The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, Elton John, The Beach Boys, J-Lo & Lionel Richie. Our Music Unlimited secret stage is not open to the public, but MU subscribers can come and go and enjoy our private stage of selected talent.

Throughout the festival, we will be making sudden announcements of intimate mini-sets and unaffected acoustic shows of some of the festivals biggest artists. With a capacity of just 150, you can be sure that the Music Unlimited stage is the place where you can get closest to the talent.

We’re also giving away stacks of amazing Sony products, from PlayStation 3s, to high-end Sony Headphones. Are you coming? Sign up here to win big and join us back stage!

New releases
It’s been a massive month of releases, including Black Sabbath’s 13 and In a Perfect World, the new album from Irish quintet Kodaline. Ice on the Dune by Empire of the Sun has been on repeat in the Music Unlimited office, as well as a master class in electronic glitch in the Identity Theft EP by Phonat.

Meanwhile, Beady Eye make a welcome return with their second release, BE. LA rock duo Deap Vally release their highly anticipated debut album, Sistrionix, whilst at the other end of the spectrum, one of the world’s biggest artists releases their whopping 12th album “Magna Carter Holy Grail”. That’s right, hip-hop’s most successful rapper of all time – Jay-Z.
