Introducing Mighty No. 9!

M9-ILL-BeckConcepts

What are you gonna be doing come Spring of 2015? No plans yet? Well here’s one appointment to put on your calendar a bit early: Mighty No. 9!

M9_target-mockup

Mighty No. 9 is an all-new Japanese side-scrolling action game coming to the PlayStation 3 (and maybe PS4 and even PS Vita! But more on that later…) that harkens back to the best aspects of the old 8- and 16-bit classics many of us grew up with, only evolved and transformed into something only possible today.

M9-ILL-BeckBlueprint

As the titular hero (known as Beck), you’ll need to run, jump, and blast your way through your fellow Mighty Number robots, stealing their powers to fuel your unique skill to transform your body into new shapes for added abilities!

Maybe your limbs could become giant magnets, enabling you to walk up walls or rip away enemy shields… Or maybe extendible spring-loaded hands would let you to activate far-away switches or work as a grappling hook… Or a tank-like body might let you easily cross over spikes or push objects around the levels… These are just a few possibilities we’re considering (the game is still in the design phase), but you get the idea!

You might know Mighty No. 9’s developer, Comcept, from their work on Soul Sacrifice for PS Vita – but what you might not know is that this company, as well as their partners at Inti Creates, are staffed with dozens of veterans who worked on many of the old Mega Man games: artists, musicians, level designers – even famed creator Keiji Inafune himself!

As we mentioned, the game is still in the early design phase, but Sony has already been incredibly supportive to us as an indie developer, reaching out to offer advice, promotion (including this blog post!) and all kinds of other help.

STAGE-FACTORY

Well, what do you think? Sound like something you might be interested in? If so, there’s a way you can take part in the creation of the game (it’s being made from the start with fan input as an integral component!) and help it come to more PlayStation systems in the process (the experienced team at Abstraction Games, fresh off their PlayStation ports of Hotline Miami, are all lined up and ready to dive in on a PS Vita version!). So head on over to our Kickstarter page before our campaign ends this coming Tuesday for details on how to (hopefully) help get Mighty No. 9 to come to PS Vita and PS4, too!

Heard about this on Nintendolife a while back. Congrats on getting the KickStarter Funds :)

thanks to kotaku i have been following this from day one and im glad its happening.

on the kickstarter page you said handheld versions may be happening but not necessarily due to the kickstarter, i hope this is the case and platform holders make it happen.

good luck with the rest of the kickstarter and i hope the opening stage + boss stretch goal is made and lets see if getting on the playstation blogs give it the boost it needs to make the ps4 goal a reality

surprised none of the videos are linked.

kickstarter vid :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX1o0so4anc

documentary :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFWrYzUX_wc

really hope it reaches all the goals

Please bring it out for the PSVita and PS4. Especially the Vita it’s a great perfect platform for it!

#4 would require the product is getting $1 million over the next 4 days

look like an alternative version of the classic mega man series, should be interesting to see where this game will play

Sadly this probably wont reach the next gen goal, even when you take into consideration that they’ll have some money coming in through paypal after the KS has ended. I’m slightly annoyed that they prioritized the current gen which wont be as wide spread in 2015 when the game is released, over next gen which will. Could you guys do a blog post on http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1236620800/shantae-half-genie-hero

I think this game deserves as much attention as It can take, coming to the PS4 and the vita, it’s going to be great game! :)

@centricbyte The poster is from Comcept team so they “cannot” make a blog post on Shantae. WayForward could probably. The PayPal donations won’t be extended into slacker-backer mode so people need to pledge now if they want PS4/Vita versions. I am quite happy with the PS3 release.

3 days to make 1 million for handheld versions.

sony chip in pub fund money and secure rights to handheld exclusive

The only platform i would play this on is 3DS, If it was Vita exclusive, There is no way i’m bothering to play it

This is important, if we donate on kickstarter, can we select European PSN codes?

Would love to see it on Vita no idea why the stretch goal is so high when Vita is the easiest system to port to.
I backed it day 1 so hope it turns out to be the best ‘Mega Man’ game ever.

We close the comments for posts after 30 days.
