The Amazing Spider-Man swings onto PS Vita

ASM Vita Web Rush

With New York Comic Con just around the corner, I’m swinging by to let you know more about the upcoming PlayStation Vita release of The Amazing Spider-Man from Activision, a hand-held version of the original PlayStation 3 title.

For those of you new to the series, The Amazing Spider-Man takes place after the events of the movie and features a new, original story. It mixes all-out, freeform brawls and stealth-based, stalk-and-strike challenges with a fast-paced momentum that puts Spidey front and center in the action.

If you caught the game when it first swung around on PlayStation 3, you already know The Amazing Spider-Man gives you free reign over the isle of Manhattan, a bustling and beautiful open world teeming with sights to see, citizens to aid and colossal bosses to rip down.

The PS Vita release of The Amazing Spider-Man is a virtual playground in your pocket, maintaining that same spirit of the console edition while adding new energy through the Vita’s special features.

Tying it all together is the Web Rush system, slowing down time in a heartbeat and opening up a variety of superpowered combat and movement actions on-the-fly. That unparalleled sensation of soaring above New York, stringing up an unsuspecting thug with a Web Strike or somersaulting clear of an incoming attack feels even more natural now thanks to the responsive, touchscreen controls the Vita brings to Web Rush, allowing for quick and precise decisions with the tap of a finger.

Peter Parker’s smartphone plays an integral part in how you interact with the city around you, and the Vita’s unique form reinforces these elements. The pinch-and-zoom support afforded by the Vita’s multi-touch capabilities makes navigation a breeze, allowing you to effortlessly drag around the mini-map, set waypoints and track your bearings, just like you would with a real smartphone’s map app. And the Vita’s gyroscopic functionality lets you snap front-page photos by aiming the device like an actual camera, zooming in and out with a simple touch.

We’re thrilled to be able to deliver a modern Spidey experience to Vita owners. The Amazing Spider-Man comes out later this year and makes a great package for Spider-Fans on-the-move. Look out for more news soon!

Interesting. Are you going for a full price? or something slightly cheaper than normal?

Better late (very late) than never

will pre-order as soon as its available for pre-order loved it on ps3, was one of first good videogame movies.

but those screen-shots do look a little worrysome.

I’ll double down on this. Could do with an open world Spidey game.

ill double dip this one as spider-man is my hero :)

any word on price

release date?

Better than nothing.

is it crossby?^^
and is it from playstation third party prodction?^^
how big are they?^^

Im hoping he frame rate is good, id love to see a trailer!

Havent played The PS vers ion. Is IT like spiderman 2 on PS?

Yeah, screenshots (especially one of them) do look a little bit outdated (even for the small window). As long as it has a normal framerate it shouldn’t be a problem and frankly it could be quite an enjoyable game :)

Finally announced after being leaked everywhere already.

Online retailers have suggested that this is the Ultimate Edition, which was released on the Wii U with the additional DLC. Is that the case?

Could be fun on Vita. I played a bit of the PS3 game and it passed the time alright.

looking forward to this. Bout time the Vita got some love….

The game being released later this year, which is just around the corner, the not so amazing screen shots and the lack of a gameplay trailer kind lets me think that this will not be as amazing as the name is.

And as for the price, being activision, I don’t expect anything else but full price so probably will be €50.

IF I get this one, will be on sale after a few discounts already.

Other reports about this release slates a Nov 19th US release at rrp $39.99. No crossbuy.

Also, the port is being done by Mercenary Technology.
They have been around for a while and have done many ports before. Don’t know to wich extent in every game. Check the portfolio on their homepage to see what games.

Great news I keep meaning to get the PS3 version but still haven’t yet.
As long as the frame rate is constant and there is no missing gameplay I will get this version.

I Love my VITA so much.

No release date?

i hope they’ll make a psp game aswell..

Any idea when this will be out on ps+?

I won’t buy it as they all end up on there.

I know lots of people are probably moaning about this but those graphics look really bad (any explanations like on a smaller screen they will look nicer or something?)

Anyone know when its coming out in GB?
