CastleStorm releases tomorrow on PS3 and PS Vita

CastleStorm Kill Streak

If you like building castles, destroying castles, knights, Vikings, war, weapons, spells, troops of all shapes and sizes, multiplayer games, PS3 games, PS Vita games, Cross Buy games – well, CastleStorm is the title for you!

For those of you getting ready to play CastleStorm when it launches tomorrow, we thought it would be nice to give you some tips on use of the ballista, the primary weapon mounted just above your castle’s gate.

Starting out, you will utilise the low powered yet quick spawning javelin, while the Vikings fire harpoons. As the game progresses, you will unlock more projectiles to your arsenal and upgrade these with gold you earn during missions. The javelins and harpoons have the shortest regeneration period and will be your best asset in early levels. Getting five kills at once activates a shooting frenzy, which means you can shoot all projectiles in rapid succession for a few seconds. No regeneration period means you can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time, so don’t hesitate to fire away!

While javelins are meant for targeting specific enemies on the ground, the knights’ Apple Grenade can either be used to take out a cluster of oncoming enemies, or better yet, demolish castle walls. Once launched, you can either wait for the Apple Grenade to hit its target, or you can detonate it at any time by pressing the A button while it’s still in the air.

The Vikings, while rugged and dangerous, also care about the environment. They take their garbage and turn it into weapons! The Vikings like to repurpose sharp scraps of Trash Metal to wipe out waves of ground troops before they can reach the gate. It’s not a very accurate weapon, but a great choice if you have scattered troops marching across the battlefield toward your castle or any pesky flying troops that you need to get rid of.

In case you are wondering if CastleStorm is a game you will enjoy, Evan Killham from GamesBeat had this to say about the game: “In what is easily one of the greatest moments of my gaming career, I once used my ballista to shoot a dragon out of the sky. The massive lizard corpse fell to the ground, killing three of my opponent’s soldiers. Thank you for making that moment possible, Zen Studios.

Still not sure? Check out the free demo on PSN and just try not to get hooked on CastleStorm. See you on the battlefield!

I can’t remember what you actually do in this game , but it looks good. I do have some concerns about pressing the Vitas A button.
any idea on a price?

Bobby Loertscher 05 November, 2013 @ 15:50

It will be €9.99 :)

You’ve not put the pricing. Though I already know it’s $9.99 and €9.99 so I’m guessing it’s £7.99. Neither of which translate well from $9.99.

OMG. So excited for this. Been playing BF4 all week, COD is really underwhelming and i’m itching for some handheld action (said the vicar).

This game is incredible. Absolute blast and i’m so greatful you guys took the time and effort to bring it to the vita for us. Instabuy for me.

Thank you! :D

Hi Bobby,

As you know, I cannot wait for this excellent game. Keep up the great work at Zen Studios.

Bobby Loertscher 05 November, 2013 @ 15:51

Thank you! Let us know what you think after you get a chance to check it out :D

On Steam it’s 10€.

I can´t wait!

” or you can detonate it at any time by pressing the A button while it’s still in the air. ”

Wheres the A button?! ;)

Crap, my Vita’s A button is unresponsive. I never got around to having it fixed because no game ever used it. And now that decision comes to bite me in the ass. BTW, will it be 39,99€ like Angry Birds?

Bobby Loertscher 05 November, 2013 @ 15:50

Haha nice catch! As you can see, I used some text from an earlier ‘How To’ post. Oops!

CastleStorm will be €9.99 with Cross Buy entitlement.

Better get that A button fixed ;)

A good price & Cross Buy, i’m in.

How much will it be in the good ‘ole United Kingdom where we use the proper money format of pounds and pence :D

No doubt the finance teams have looked at the conversion rates and it will be £9.99

Bobby what is the UK price, and will there be a ps+ discount

Also as per #7 where is the A button.

It’s on ‘that other console’ for £1.68, will you Price Match?
Are there any extras or tweaks in the PSN version? Apart from the Cross-buy, of course.

Normally, I wait for a sale before buying downloadable games. But I might make an exception for this. Especially if it’s £7.99 rather than £9.99.

The game looks excellent; just my kind of thing, I love building and managing things. And Zen Studios have been very good supporters of Vita, which I appreciate.

A 9,99€ CrossBuy mixture of RTS, Tower Defense and Physics game on a fantasy medieval setting. None of those features by itself would be enough to justify instant purchase, but all of them together…

ahhh so much coming up tomorrow but i MUST BUY this one :P

I just bought Castlestorm at 50% off on Xbox 360 sale now. ;)
Needed it fast, because its so awesome in Stereoscopic 3D :D

Sometime later i will get it on PS3+VITA too.

I don’t post particularly often here on the blog, but I’ve had such a blast with CastleStorm on my Vita, that I just couldn’t resist logging in and shouting it from the rooftops! It’s one of those rare games that within minutes of booting it up for the very first time, you’re sucked right into the heart of the action…and just gets better and better the more you play it.

Highly recommended for fans of strategy, adventure and even physics-based puzzlers! Whether you’re after a casual pick-up-and-play experience or something more meaty with tons of depth, CastleStorm has you covered. I realise that I’m gushing a bit here, but as far as I’m concerned, Zen’s latest PSN offering is right up there with the very best downloadables available on Vita today. Yep, *that* good!

I will try the demo first. it looks good though.

I can not seem to find the game on the store. I suppose the game should be out by now.

Number9dream68 06 November, 2013 @ 14:43

just tried the demo, loved it,there is quite a strategic element to it,will buy this thursday when my wages go in lol

Yeah, definitely worth the purchase, IMO.

yep good game but shame u cant control your weapon by holding/touching the screen up and down to aim, i find the analogue harder to aim but i am getting used to it :P
