PlayStation Plus in 2013: What was your favourite game?

Hi everyone! 2013 has been a very exciting time for everyone involved with PlayStation, and especially the world of PlayStation Plus!

Not only have we grown as a community and shared more and more amazing gaming experiences, but we also welcomed PS4 to the service. We’re confident that you’ll have a great time playing all the games we’ve got lined up for you over the next few months across all three platforms. Sorry, no hints!

But that’s enough about the future for now – we’re here to celebrate the great times we’ve had with 2013’s library of Plus titles. Over the past year we’ve delivered a huge range of top rated titles with an average metacritic rating of 80, proving that PS Plus really is the best place to play.

Check out the video above and remind yourself of the huge games we’ve had in the service this year including Sleeping Dogs, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Thomas Was Alone, Zero Escape: Virtues Last Reward and Far Cry 3, to name but a few. And it’s with great pleasure that I can now reveal the top five most downloaded PS Plus games this year:

  1.  Mafia 2
  2.  Remember Me
  3.  Spec Ops: The Line
  4.  Need for Speed Most Wanted
  5.  Saints Row: The Third

Why not share your favourite moments and games from PS Plus this year below? We’ve got five PS Plus annual subscriptions to give away to the most thoughtful and/or entertinaing responses. To kick things off here are mine and Fred’s top picks.

Chris:
Even though it just missed out on making the top five, my favourite game this year was definitely Far Cry 3. Having control over how the story unfolded had me hooked for weeks. The story of the transformation of the innocent Jason Brody into a ruthless hunter, stealthily tracking down Vaas across the lawless island was hugely addictive. I for one am counting down the days until Far Cry 4 might grace my screen!

Fred:
“I’d echo Chris’ choice if I hadn’t gobbled it down on its original release in 2012! So, my nod goes to the wonderful Velocity Ultra. Futurlab’s top-down shoot ’em up melded clever puzzle mechanics and pure action game smarts and comes up with a true OCD speed run classic. The discovery of the year, to be sure.”

So all that is left for me to say is have a wonderful Christmas, a very happy new year and bring on even more exciting and immersive gaming experiences in 2014 with PlayStation Plus.

I’m a massive geek and kept track of all the games we got via Playstation Plus in 2013 (Instant Game Collection), and across PS3, PS Vita and PS4 we received £1,307.87 worth of games! (Based on PSN prices) All for £39.99 a year!

Thanks Playstation crew, you have kept me amazingly busy over the last 12 month and given me more games than I’ve had time to play. Keep up the great work because I’m subscribed until Dec 2015!

Far Cry 3 was my game of 2012 by a country mile so how could it not be the best PS+ game of the year? Not that I bothered downloading it seeing I’d completed 3 times on the other console but you get my drift.

My favorite is still Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward.
The riddle part wasn’t breathtaking and the story more than just a bit confusing, at the beginning. I even wanted to quit playing it after my first escape! But am I glad that I didn’t. :)

I must generally congratulate Chris to some very good choices. So many games that I underrated, as Mafia 2 or lately Remember Me. Plus gave me some hundred hours of best entertainment. Cursing if I didn’t manage to beat Fred’s Velocity highscores being part of that. ;)

I kept a best of selection for the time to come, with Far Cry 3 and Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen.
But in all fairness, I must also mention the most missed games: Our third PS3 game and the annual PSV titles.
It had been a fantastic year, that it had to end with those disappointements was kind of tragic. Wonder what 2014 will offer.

3.1

Heh, you picked the one game I’m actually pretty good at. My Resogun scores are dismal :(

4

My top game had to be Sleeping Dogs, it had been 5 years since we had GTA 4 and Saints Row had ventured into the ridiculous (yet still awesome) I was craving a serious sandbox game in that genre, that and the focus on hand to hand combat and little gun play was welcomed. The move away from a US type city was also a nice change. Sure it had flaws but running around Hong Kong dressed as Tony Jaa beating everyone to a pulp was epic.

You see… there you go misleading people again! You’ve delivered a huge range of games yes but not a huge range of games with a metacritic score over 80! That’s putting a misleading spin on PS+ and you’re selling it as something it isn’t. Why can’t you just be honest for once?

6

Fred you forgot a very important game in the picture. One which I would say was the best ps plus game of the year. That being gravity rush for the PSV.

The art style, story, music and characters brought that game to life. I will definitely look out for the next one!

I’ve got to say my favourite one was Sleeping Dogs. I never would have bought it because I took it as just another GTA clone, but once I downloaded it from Plus Hong Kong just swept me away. I’ve played it through twice and meaning to go back for a third. And I can’t stop listening to 24herbs now.

Close second is Remember Me. I was very near in bying it but desided against it based on reviews, but again after getting it from Plus I really enjoyed it. Yes, the gane mechanics were a bit clumsy but the story and feeling kept me interested.

All in all a very good year, thanks to everyone at the Plus team.

So many great games this year, but my shout goes to spec ops for ps3.
Wasn’t expecting much from it but I ended up playing through it 3 times as I enjoyed it so much.

Favourite on vita has top go to Thomas was alone. I would never have bought that game as its not normally my sort of thing, but i gave it a go as it was free and i was hooked! Pure genius.

I love how plus gets me to try games I never would have looked at otherwise. Seems like every month there’s another gem in the collection. Cheers fells!

There was a fantastic selection of PS Plus games this year, and I enjoyed so many, but I would have to say I spent easily over a hundred hours in Dead or Alive 5.

My last DOA game was DOA2, and since PlayStation consoles missed out on DOA3 and DOA4, it wasn’t until DOA5 came to PS Plus that I finally had the chance to play it again. I was absolutely hooked in and got to work on trying to become a half-decent competitive player online with Kasumi. I’m still no absolute pro, but I did manage to reach my highest rank not long ago, B-. That didn’t last long, though, and I’m back on C+ now, haha. But I think I’ve got to a good standard, and the amount of hours I’ve put in is because of that.

I have Sony to thank for giving me the opportunity to become so obsessed with this series all over again, and it’s so much better than I remember it when I was a kid, now that I’ve actually learnt how to play the game properly!

it is REALLY hard to just pick one…
but ME3, Amalur, Demon’s Souls, AC3, Far Cry 3, MG Rising, Borderlands 2, DMC are for sure some of the greatest IGC deals!!!

Have awesome holidays everyone and hopefully 2014 will be much more awesome!

p.s. can’t wait for my PS4…sooooon :D

PS3: Okami (the reason I signed up.)
Vita: Metal Gear Solid HD (even though I missed it, I still own it.)

However you had to dirty it all by removing the 3rd PS3 game without any good explanation and not updating the yearly Vita games with a pitiful excuse. As you’re the lead it’s on your head and combined with your lack of replies to pages of legitimate questions & issues on the blog pages… I think you should be replaced.

It was amazing year with all the PS+ offers. Because of that I even got myself a Vita this autumn and while I was little skeptical at the time whether it was going to be left to dust after the initial curiosity, I’m happy to say to say it was totally worth it and it’s been in almost daily use since.

But my favorite PS+ game and pretty much my game of the year too was hands down Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen. It sucked me completely in and until now I’m starting to get back to the overwhelmingly long back log of other games.

Binary Domain in PS Plus EU? When did this happened?

Virtues last reward is definitely the best game from PS+ I’ve had this year. That game got me into whole visual novels thing ! And all the love for Vita just makes me happy :) Another thing I really love about + is, that it feels like getting presents every month ! And since we don’t know what it is until it’s announced here on blog, it’s kinda like unwrapping a surprise gift box. Which in my opinion feels FANTASTIC ! The feeling of excitement about what will be next is just plainly awesome :D

My favorite game by far was Metal Gear Rising Revengeance I didn’t expect to like it but finding new ways to make my enemies into spaghetti is awesome  , besides this the music in the game is great especially the one where u fight Samuel and the senator ( REALLY enjoyed killing him) . so great game all around, definitely got me interested in the metal gear series.

@RS_Daimon

Some country got Binary Domain instead of Sleeping Dogs I think. Same for Gotham City Imposters (instead of Mortal Kombat).

Far cry 3 und Hitman for PS3
Rayman for Vita
Guacamelee for both

I just logged in to congratulate people in charge of the PS+ offerings this past year, they did an outstanding job, and should be commended on doing so! Congratulations on a job beautifully done, dudes and dudettes!

As per my favourite title of the year… Probably Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen, and its mighty beasts!

Here is to a great year, and hopes of a better one to follow suit!

probably likke king’s story, i spent a LOT of time on that one and i even bothered to get the platinum

I’m gonna pick MGS 2 & 3 HD for Vita since I only have a Vita.
I was about to pick Soul Sacrifice but noticed that my account is in EU region and SS was free last month for US PS+ subs.

21

I think its the vita titles that we received through ps plus that really made me happy as I didn’t even own a physical game until recently and I refused to pay the over priced ps store prices. Not as amazing as uncharted and gravity rush from 2012 but I was happy with lego lotr and unit13 to name but a few. There has been some awesome ps3 instant collection games like ass creed 3, uncharted3 and bf3 but I already owned most of them. Im a trophy hunter and like my 100%’s so I love the ps plus discounts we get on the dlc packs but im still cursing at Lumines for the black belt trophy and for taking vita memory card space and taking my time up when I could be enjoying other igc games.ahhhh.

Mine was “Uncharted: Golden Abyss” as it was the reason for me to subscribe for 3 months instead of buying the game, but I was really glad with the service and the games I got from ps+ so I extended my subscription.

Thank you for this amazing service, and I regret I didn’t subscribed earlier.

23

I’m actually quite surprised by the top 5 though I haven’t had a chance to play those ones yet. I always download all of them anyway even so I’m surprised they don’t all have the same score :-)

My favourite was Sleeping dogs. I found it the most entertaining sandbox game I’ve ever played with a really strong story I still can’t get over the wedding!! The location was a welcomed change and one I could appreciate having visited Hong Kong. I much preferred this to GTA which I bore with easily!

@ FnlD

Thanks, that explains it. Completely forgot about some substitutions.

25

Although theres no plus sign by my id, i am a constant subber, since in fact the first minutes it went live, was about 8th to rate it, my how it has all changed, am just using a public id etc… My fav this year was xcom, a game i would Never have bothered playing, but thanks to plus’s variations i have sunk close on 60 hours of enjoyable gaming time in, but am still to face ironman play-through, do not agree with moaning about losing A ps3 game like certain op’s, however my years old gripe is that chestnut of US being given Far superior service, am Still reeling at their plus being able to buy Defiance for $2.50, which is prob not to far off. 99pence deal… When we get such treats?, till then adios

26

So many amazing games on the PS3 and then you guys give us more on the Vita as well. I was holding out on buying a Vita but when you put Uncharted and Wipeout on Plus I had to buy mine within days.

So without the great games on PS plus I may not of got my Vita. As much as I loved my PSP the Vita is such a step up in every way! So its no surprise that my No.1 pick is Virtue’s Last Reward. What an amazing story – kinda scary, but gripping at the same time.

I am tempted to pick Resogun for my second choice as I love this game (Power cut stopped me in the middle of my top score with 7 million and on last level!!). BUT I must pick another game that blew me away with its originality – Catherine!

This is what PS Plus is all about. Getting us to play games we would not normally do and open up new fantastic worlds.

Mine is easily Velocity Ultra. It had such a classic feel to it that hasn’t been in other ‘Retro games’ I got Velocity from Plus a couple of years back and loved that but ultra was just so much better. I can’t wait for the new one. I just hope Vita TV is out here by then I love the vita games but would prefer to play them on my TV.

Mass effect 3, dragon’s dogma and Remember me

And Xcom

Thought I knew for sure! I wrote “Arkham City!” and then remembered Thomas Was Alone. And then remembered Metal Gear Solid HD collection, and then I remembered Remember Me, and then I remembered Dragon’s Dogma.

So to answer the question, I imagined being stuck on a desert island with a PS3 console, a TV, and electricity that would only last for 1 night.

Which game would I play? Well if I put it like that, it’s easy. Uncharted 3!

Absolutely the most graphically beautiful, generation pushing game EVER! (Until a little known game called The Last of Us!). What a thrill ride. And when I thought a certain silver-haired fox was going to die, I actually nearly wept. What an engaging, and gripping plot, easy to handle controls, and near perfect gameplay.

Thank you for releasing it!

31

Oh, just seen the list above, top 5 downloaded etc, out of list i owned mafia2 psn, saints3 and spec ops on disc, though i only needed one trophy for spec ops and welcomed chance to revisit it, i was gutted when the disc save wouldn’t load on the digital game… Why must this happen, ever?, surely it would be feasible to use plus uploads ( saves) to somehow convert the 1kb difference, ?, Is such a thing possible?.

God.. I missed so many amazing games.. Makes me so sad :(
Wish I’d gotten a PS3 sooner. Meanwhile I was supporting those M$ asshats.. Ugh.

@Serpantino Chris already explained it’s because we’re getting two ps4 titles a month. We got one this month but the total still adds up to five, so we’ve lost nothing!

Unless you don’t own a PS4…

PS3: Mass Effect 3; Far Cry 3; Spec Ops: The Line
PS Vita: Rayman Origins; Zero Escape; Velocity Ultra (and of course Golden Abyss & Gravity Rush)
Thanks, guys! I hope we will see many great games next year:)

36

So hard to choose one. But I think I would have to go for:
1) Far Cry 3
2) Borderlands 1
3) Sleeping Dogs
4) Uncharted Golden Abyss

First three that came to mind are Sleeping Dogs, Remember Me and Thomas Was Alone, but then I realised I missed out Guacamelee.
Guacamelee is one of the best games I’ve played in years and I never would have played it if I didn’t have plus.

For PS3 XCOM enemy unknown, Far cry3, Dragons dogma. For VITA, Gravity Rush.. I never imagined I would enjoy it that much, I even avoided playing it for a while expecting not to enjoy it, but I LOVED it. It was the game that made me realize I had the best hand held ever made in my hands.

That said, I haven’t been with PS+ or playstation for that long since I made a switch from the competition to PS4 for next gen (Did own a PS1 back in the day) and bought a VITA in advance. A little before that my little brother bough him self a PS3, so when I got PS+ I installed most of the games on his PS3. He played them but I never got around to playing them and I also already owned XCOM, FC3, Mafia2, etc :)

Still planning to play trough Dragons Dogma one of these days.. Also planning to pick up a PS3 one day just so I can play PS3 exclusives I missed but really wanted to play.

Really happy I switched .. really happy with my day one PS4 and my VITA. SCE/Playstation has upped its game, happy to...

I also love how Sony has become like nintendo (only much better, since the big N is a shell of its former self) in the sense that it plays in to our nostalgia …. who didn’t own a PS1 or PS2 at one point or another.

It’s been one massive year for the instant game collection, and I can’t thank the team enough for the great experiences that I have had playing the games since I joined the service a little late into 2012.

With that said what I love most is that it is always a surprise to find out what is next to come to the collection, and no doubt it will only get better.

For me personal, my favourite games have been Virtues Last Reward for the PS Vita, with Dark Souls and Malicious for the PS3.

Each of the games were completely different to what I was expecting, and it was interesting to see where the games would take me. However, if I was only allowed one game to take the cake, it would have to be ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection. Beauty defined in a Video Game.

this is hard for me to answer as i really hardly played my games i got from plus for the ps3 as i had a habit of buying what i wanted but ill go for x-com i had the physical game when it was added to plus but still had loads to do so i got rid of the disc and used the plus version.

vita’s a different story as i have enjoyed many a game from plus such as urban freestyle, velocity ultra, coconut dodge and most recently the fantastic guacamelee (not going to say gravity rush or uncharted as they were games from 2012 that have hung around ;) )

the ps4 is a clean slate and i have loved resogun and the upcoming dont starve was my most wanted game on ps4 until infamous second son im looking forward to getting lots of indies through plus for ps4 as most of them will be free at launch meaning we are all getting something we dont already have which is great.

as a day 1 plus user i have seen many changes to the service some good, then some great, then some not so good as we look to the future ...

anyways merry christmas guys

Totally forgot about Contrast and Resogun .. Contrast I liked .. I played it mostly on VITA trough remoteplay, really charming little game.

Resogun is really fun and beautiful. Not a big arcade game fan but I liked both resogun and stardust which I got for VITA.

But I’m even more excited for Don’t starve.. which I LOVED on PC, can’t wait to have that on my PS4 and also one of those games that will be perfect for remote play. (I realize that Don’t starve is 2014)

I really enjoyed Sleeping Dogs and Far Cry 3, they were so addicting and I kept playing it through the depths of the night. Such good memories.

Thank you Playstation Plus.

43

My favourite games are Gravity Rush for the Vita and Machinarium for the PS3.

Most of the time when plus had good games this year it was quite fun , my list would be :
1. Hitman Absolution
2. Far cry 3
3. NFS Most Wanted
4. Remember me

Still have to find time to play guacamelee and grif , but yeah most of the time it was fun

P.S Have a VITA , but didn’t come around to love any PS+ game for it …

46

Since you guys didn’t add a list of all the games that passed, off the top of my head : Virtue’s last reward on vita. As for the top 5.. Owned them all on disc except for Spec ops which I got during a sale on the ps store. And that would pretty much be my general opinion, owning too much of what comes in the (ps3) selection. Ironically I was pleading for more full games last year, but since I always seem to own most of them I’d like to see more of those small Indie type of games, games I’m not likely to try or buy myself, and then end up being better than expected. Love Contrast and I’m enjoying Velocity too eventhough it’s not my genre at all. Can’t wait for Driveclub (hopefully full version) and Soul sacrifice! Minecraft would be a lovely pick down the line too ;)

47

Out of the ones I’ve played (and not saved for later) and not counting the ones I’ve bought before they appeared on Plus, my favorites were:
Remember me – PS3
Zero escape – Vita

48

For me it was Mass Effect 3. I didn’t really get on with the original Mass Effect, it seemed like a grind to me, so I gave up on the rest of the series. But I gave ME3 a try when it came out on Plus, and really enjoyed it – it’s become one of my favourite games of the last few years.

Which is what Plus is all about for me, it encourages me to try games I wouldn’t otherwise play. I’ve only really got into maybe 10% of the games from Plus in the past year, but I don’t always know what I’m going to enjoy so it’s nice to have some recommended games pushed out to me every month so I’m less likely to miss something great.

49

Velocity = Resogun, srry :p

50

And on behalf of my kids, Okami HD was really popular. I’d played it years ago on the PS2 and had been thinking about digging out the old console to replay it. I don’t think I’d have been happy to pay full price for a game I still own but having the HD PS3 version on Plus was a treat.

51

Sorry, seems you guys did add a pic of the games, I stand corrected :p Loving Guacamelee on vita too! All in all a great selection, which is why I always own so much of it.. Hopefully I’ll be more lucky in that aspect on ps4 :p
Any chance we’ll ever see an edit button here? ^^

52

KOA and Xcom, but Spec ops was pretty good as well.

53

I can see that almost half of all the games of the past year have been mentioned already in the comments. I think that shows not only the quantity, but also the quality PS Plus offers.

As for my personal favourite of them all, not counting games I already owned, it is most definately Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward. The game was just brilliant from start to end. It had so many great plots and subplots, and the way they unfolded as you went down different timelines was just fantastic. All the puzzle segments wer really well balanced as well. They were hard enough to feel rewarding, but none of them were so hard they got frustrating.

I think what really resonated with me, was the way the gameplay and story intertwined right before your eyes. It went together so well, and created an amazing experience. I certainly can’t wait for the sequel… I guess technically, it’s a prequel, but I still can’t wait! And I can’t wait to see what PS Plus brings in 2014 either! :)

OT: Have you found any solution regarding the Pinball Arcade Season bundle for PS4?
People still can’t buy the discounted bundle even though we have all tables on Vita/PS3.

Far Cry 3 without any doubt, it was AWESOME. Guacamelee on Vita was pretty fun too.

Demons Souls hands down.

For me it’s tough to chose between kingdoms of amalur, Xcom: enemy unknown and hitman absolution, owned all the games on disk before but rarely played them after finishing them, loved going back to them and losing my life all over again, in all it’s near impossible to pick one game above all the rest even with greats like far cry 3 in there, So many great games all year long

My favourite was probably Battlefield 3, which we played right up until the release of Battlefield 4.

There were many great games, several of which I have not even had time to play yet! (Mafia 2, Uncharted 3, etc.) Owning a PS4 is making it harder to get back on the PS3 to play them too – hehe.

I cannot fault the value we get with PS+ and I bought a PS3 just to benefit from it, after years of paying for online gaming with the ‘other console’ (as people seem to refer to it here). The money saved on the free games has more than covered the cost of the PS3 and the Plus subscription.

The quality of the online experience with the PS3 was also a major factor in my decision to continue with Sony for the next generation.

Top 5 downloaded PS+ games? But surely everyone downloads everything?

Anyway, I would have to say Spec Ops: The Line. Not only was it great, but it was a nice surprise and quite thoughtful too. A lot of people dismissed as an Apocalypse Now knock off (to be fair there are plenty of similarities), and even those who like it often just see it as a succesful “war is hell” story.

But it gets deeper than that, really deep into the bones of how we think about and interact with war games, crafting a main character that not only perfectly typified the military shooter protagonist (casting Nolan North was genius), but also one that anticipated and reflected the player’s emotional responses.

The game’s most infamous scene is the point where it lost a lot of players. “I can’t feel guilty for something the game forced me to do” was the general response. They shifted the blame from themselves to the game, just as Walker shifts the blame from himself to Conrad.

But really the game never asks you ...

But really the game never asks you to feel guilty, only to take responsibility for the choices you make, even when they go horribly wrong. And a lot of people couldn’t do that.

Seems I voted for games not on the list. Doh! Okay, let me try again. Okami Hd for the PS3 and Rayman Origins for the Vita.

Hi there everyone. Despite some of my (more than fair) complains about the service, I do love it. So here goes my top 10 games of ps+ for 2013, 5 for each console.
The comment was much bigger, but the blog automatic system made me cut it.
If you want to read the full text (and Sony allows it) I can put the link of the blog where I’ll post it or give instructions on how to get to it.
I’m a huge fan of RPG (prepare for a landslide of them) and I’m completely unable to play fps on a console because I’m left-handed For my brain it doesn’t makes sense to use the right analog for camera and the left one for movement, my brain thinks in mirror mode.

In the PS3 Category we have

5th Infamous 2.
4th Need for Speed: Most Wanted.
3rd Kingdoms of Amalur – Reckoning.
2nd Assassins Creed 3.
1st Lord of the Rings – War in the North.

5th – Uncharted Golden Abyss.
4th – Oddworld Stranger Wrath.
3rd – New little King Story.
2nd – Gravity Rush.
1st – Lego Lord of the Rings.

Honorable mentions.

Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3, Hitman, X-com Enemy Unknown (bought this one on Steam after it hit the IGC).

I would choose Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed III with no hesitation, but I already had the games before it gets to the IGC. so I’m going to choose January games :)

Virtues Last Reward. Loved it so much I imported 999 (Prequel on DS) and im importing the US VLR for english VA. Enjoying Persona now :)

1. WipeoOut 2048
2. The Lord of the Rings: War in the North
3. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception
4. Rayman Origins
5. Thomas Was Alone

Sleeping Dogs was my favourite. Was skint and couldn’t afford to buy any other games, turned out to be one of my favourite ever games, great story, great gameplay. Just great. Top five rounded out by XCom (another surprise), Battlefield 3, NFS Most Wanted and Grid 2.
Doesn’t even include Kingdoms of Amalur, Mass Effect 3 and Demon Souls which I already had, and Borderlands 2 and DmC which I haven’t downloaded yet.
All in all 40 quid well spent!

1-NFS MW
2-BD
3-OKAMI
4-LOTR
5-SPECE OPS :)

The thing i love with PS+ is that, for a price lower than the cost of a new game, you get a big bunch of quality games to enjoy. Some games you may like, some games you may not.

Then once in a while, a game pops up that you would never have tried if it werent for PS+, and you simply love it! In 2013, the two strongest games for me that falls under this criteria is Sleeping Dogs and Far Cry 3. I dont really like the GTA and Saints Row series, but Sleeping Dogs was amazing! The setting and the focus on martial arts more then guns really made this a game I enjoyed. That game alone justified the pricetag for PS+ two times over!

The came Far Cry 3 and struck me even harder than Sleeping Dogs. I dont enjoy most FPS games, save for Bordelands, but my god was Far Cry 3 a blast! The chance to play stealthily if I wanted, coupled with a great story and atmosphere, really got me hooked! I really thank you guys behind the PS+ scene for giving me the opportunity to “stumble upon” these, and of ...

So thank you for a great 2013, and here’s to hoping for a similarly splendid 2014!

Favourite game hmm… part of me really wants to say Shadow of the Colossus as part of the Team Ico HD Collection, but I didn’t like ICO and the last Colossus in Shadow of the Colossus frustrated me a great deal.

So instead I’ll go for Saint’s Row The Third. I’ve never been a big fan of the GTA series, too much swearing and badly written plot in my opinion (haven’t played V yet)and kind of dull honestly. So I avoided Saint’s Row on the principle that it was just a GTA clone… I was so wrong!

Saint’s Row the Third was a lot of fun, well written humour and dialogue, detailed customization and interesting plot. Coupled together with a great soundtrack and some truly memorable sequences like the shooting people with a tank whilst falling from an aircraft carrier section. Not only that but it achieved something GTA games never have for me, made me interested in what happened to the characters, the Story was insane and yet I honestly wanted to know what happened next to these characters I’d...

Thanks to SR3, I’m getting SRIV for Xmas this year and I’m looking forward to it.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year guys! Can’t wait for the Plus games on Dec 24th and whatever you guys give us next year!

I’m really surprised about this top 5, I expected it to look entirely differently. Ah, the Playstation Plus. I have actually stopped buying retail games because of how many great games I got for free. On top of this, I haven’t played all of them yet. My personal Top 5 of PS Plus games that I enjoyed the most in 2013 is:

1. Sleeping Dogs
2. Need for Speed: Most Wanted
3. Grid 2
4. Metal Gear Rising
5. Mass Effect 3

This list does not include games such as: X-Com, AC3, Spec Ops, Remember Me, Saints Row the Third, Hitman simply because I haven’t actually got the time to play all these games! They may very well become a part of my Top 5 of 2014. Keep it up, Sony!

i’m going to sound like an a** kisser, but looking back over the year’s collection of games, i am reminded what an amazing service ps plus is. so many unforgettable experiences i wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for plus. from the emotional depth of spec ops to the cheeky banter of uncharted, it’s been a fantastic year.
for me though there was one experience i will never forget and that was demon’s souls. the fear, the exhilaration, the intensity; it was the great gaming experience of my life. thanks to ps plus for giving me a fantastic year of gaming

The problem is i’ve played like 35% of all the games in the IGC but what i’m most glad about is the fact that it allows us to play games we would never have bought and thus played.

I still have to play Remember Me, Hitman Aboslution, XCom, Okami, Dragon’s Dogma, Demons’ Soul, Catherine, Spec Ops, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance.

I’m glad i could play Virtue’s Last Reward, Rayman Origins, Guacamelee, Far Cry 3, Sleeping Dogs, Machinarium, AC3, Mass Effect 3.

I know i’ll just pass on some of them like Battlefield 3, Grid 2, Fighting games in general.

Thanks for a great year!

My is Mafia 2,NFS,Hitman and NBA2K13. It was a very good investment this PS+.

There were so many PS Plus games out this year but my personal favourite, are….well first I’ll show my runners up.

My runners up are Hitman & Rayman Origins.

I enjoyed the stealth gameplay of Hitman (Being an fan of stealth games like Sly Cooper and MGS) and story was pretty good.

Rayman Origins is just an great game. The 2d Platforming is so much fun, the art style is brilliant and the sequel Rayman Legends is even better!

But my favourie is cheating a bit but its not removed from PS Plus yet so I’m still counting it. My favourite PS Plus game….Of this year, of all the time in the IGC and what is my favourite Vita game and what I think is the best Vita game made…..Gravity Rush. Everything about Gravity Rush, I like. The music is excellent. The characters are done greatly. The story is brilliant and interesting, the missions are fun, the gameplay is great, the art style is wonderful, my only problem with it is the combat but even then its not that bad. Tough choice but I’ve narrowed it down to games I didn’t already own (otherwise Okami HD would be my pick) and games I wasn’t already planning to own (XCOM would be a contender if not). I feel the best Plus game left was one that was unexpectedly great. Spec Ops almost grabs the top spot for me but ultimately Virtue’s Last Reward nailed it.

Virtue’s Last Reward, what can I say? Golwar shared the same sentiment as me; I escaped the first room and thought, “This is it?” Was about to delete it months later for space but I decided to give it a second chance before banishing it for good. Needless to say, glad I did.

The story became twisted in all sorts of ways, interweaving in itself, getting so far, increasingly intense and suddenly, “To be continued,” at several points. “Nnnooooooooo!!!” This game was driving me mental, ate up plenty of my sleeping hours. I remember Golway mentioned on the blog recap saying there was something that ground his gears but he wouldn’t spoil it. Here’s me,...

Anyway, I can breathe now.

From what I’ve had time to actually play – Sleeping Dogs. If Hitman 2 and Hitman Contracts are anything to go by then Hitman Absolution might actually be the best Plus release in 2013. Hopefully I can find time to play it, and Blood Money, sometime in 2014.

It would be awesome that on christmas we could pick one ps+ game we missed ! I doubt that this will happen but it would be great lol i would pick Bioshock 2 !!! Please make this happen sony xD

Velocity Ultra.
Such a surprise, and now one of my favourite games. Cannot wait for 2x!

There has been lot of great games moreover I have quite a lot in backlog due to my busy schedule, but if I have to pick one it will be Uncharted 3 for PS3 and Rayman Origins for PS vita.
I haven,t got hands on PS4 yet; its only releasing on January 6th 2014.
Looking forward to play resogun on PS4 and remote play as well.

Happy holidays to all you guys who are working behind PS plus. You guys are doing an amazing job and hope to see even greater work in 2014 :)

Having only rejoined the world of Playstation in August when I purchased my Vita and PS3 after a 2 year hiatus, I missed quite a few good games from PS+ this year. Even so, I still have had some wonderful experiences brought by this great program.

I have loved experiencing the tale of Kat and the beautiful world she inhabits in Gravity Rush. As for a PS3 title, I find it hard to go past the atmosphere and gameplay of Demon Souls, the mix of joy and terror this game brings is nothing short of breathtaking.

Thanks for a great year in 2013 and I look forward to an even better one in 2014(when I get my PS4). MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Hands down Sleeping Dogs. When I commit to a sandbox game I truely commit and give it all my love. GTA IV was a miss for me, I couldn’t get in touch with that world and then came Sleeping Dogs to fill in that place. It was a blast. The story, the setting everything was new. The combat was great, heck, even driving had new fun elements.
This games deserves a spot next to GTA and deserves the elbow room at the big sandbox game ‘table’.
A lot of people are talking about how to spark Vita sales. It’s easy. Give us a Sleeping Dogs game. But don’t give us the actual SD game or some small brother of it i.e. Sleeping Dogs: Childhood Stories. No,no,no…give us a full game with it’s owm story that ties in and hints at SD. A separate huge game that delivers a great experience. GTA,but not-GTA(!), game on a handheld. New,fresh, blazing with ideas, new gameplay elements… That could sell systems.

It’s been a truly amazing year for Playstation Plus and the Instant Game Collection. So many great titles, so many unuique experiences – Mass Effect 3, Okami HD, Jack and Daxter etc. And even though I enjoyed them all I must single out Uncharted 3 as a highlight of the year for me! I admit I was one of the odd ones that didn’t give Uncharted a chance just because too much hype around it put me off.. Thanks to Plus I had to chance to play this amazing game and eventually went on and gave the whole series a try and I didn’t regret it.

That’s why I love Plus. It offers you a chance to try games you otherwise wouldn’t. And thanks to careful selection of only the very best of games, Plus offers a great value! Looking forward to 2014 and exploiting the Vita IGC for the first time..

Some of my favourite moments have been in the news posts that reveal the next month’s IGC update. There have been some great additions announced in the last year and I was bursting with excitement, but someone took it further and just made an outstanding bit of news when MGS Revengance, Remember Me and GRID 2 were announced. Six month old AAA games being given to Plus members free? I was over the moon at the quality and now I have a big smile on my face playing Remember Me in particular.

As for favourite games, I can’t deny Battlefield 3 is something I’m thoroughly enjoying at the moment online and offline. Other favourites have been Guacamelee (Best indie game matched only by Velocity Ultra), Urban Trial Freestyle (incredibly addictive physics had playing constantly for best times/performance), and MGS HD collection (two of the best games of the PS2 and a brilliant addition to Vita).

Well, it’s been a good run for 2013, right? :)

My personal favourite has been no doubt Sleeping Dogs. It came out right on the same time frame as Darksiders II (and besides I didn’t hear of it before :P), and it didn’t catch my attention at all prior to the download.

I remember I had to download it twice, the first time I just thought “Meh!”. The second one I was blown away. The story of Wei Shen has become on of my favourites and I’m certainly looking forward the “Triad Wars” title. Thanks Chris and SCEE for the choice of games this year — whether I already had it or not, I’ve enjoyed most of them a lot (and that’s because I haven’t downloaded them all yet :P).

Looking forward next week to get my hands on Blazblue, by the way. As a fighting game enthusiast I wanted to give it a try for a long time — now I can play the whole thing!

2013 was an amazing year for PS+ :)
PS+ has brought me some of my favorite games of this gen,
and games that I have been craving to get for years!

MK, XCOM, Okami (HD), Quantum Conundrum,
Jak & Dexter Collection, MGR, DOA 5, Bioshock 2…
the list goes on and on!

But in my opinion, the 2 best most greatest games and experiences I had from PS+
are Catherine and Demon’s Souls :)
They are something extraordinary,
and I will remember them as some of the best games of all time (they’re no Chrono Trigger but they’re definitely up there)

Demon Souls was something I was dreaming for a long time.
The ultimate RPG, hard as nails experience.
It was everything I ever wanted out of a modern video game.
And I was smiling all the way to the end,
even if I died more times than I could count!

And Catherine tackled subjects that have never been tackled in a video game before, or at least not as amazing as Catherine did it!
Marriage, love, friendship, alcoholic drink information.

For me, I would have to say that my absolute favourite games for the PS+ in 2013 was a tie between Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen and Demon’s Souls for the Playstation 3, as well as Virtue’s Last Reward and Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

While I already bought both Demon’s Souls and Dragon’s Dogma, including it as a free PS+ title immensely boosted the popularity of two games that I felt was severely under appreciated, before, the server (for me) only had a few people actually playing both games, making it virtually impossible to help (or invade) other players, but almost as soon as it became free, the servers were so packed with new players that I could get summoned at least twice as likely and from there, I met so many new players that I befriended and connected on a more spiritual level that would have been impossible before it became a PS+ title.

While Virtue’s Last Reward is better known, I had little reason to buy a Playstation Vita because while I could think of a few games, I was very content with my PSP, but realizing the games I could get for it without spending any extra money that I decided to take the plunge and get my very own PS Vita, which opened my eyes to so many games that I absolutely adored.

87

First off, a massive thank you PS+ . The games that you’ve given us this year has been amazing. It’s pretty difficult to tell you which ones have been my favourite, as I’ve previously owned some of the games (Mafia 2, Spec Ops, Uncharted 3, F1 Race Stars) and there are plenty that I’ve not had the time to play yet (Saints Row The Third, Assassins Creed 3, Hitman Absolution, Mass Effect 3, Metal Gear Rising). And I don’t have a Vita yet but am excited about getting one (once the revised version is released probably).

But I really enjoyed Far Cry 3 and Sleeping Dogs, and I’m currently playing a lot of Grid 2.

I’d like to see Mortal Kombat be released for Australia if possible and I’d also be perfectly happy to see some older games come on PS+ – personally I’d like Red Faction Guerilla, and maybe one of the better flight / dogfight games would be good.

I’m also crossing my fingers for Dishonored and Tomb Raider in 2014.
The Last of Us would be great for Christmas 2014 :)

88

I had one game left from the current generation that I really wanted to play. But since I had decided to put this gen behind me once I received my PS4 I didnt think I was ever going to play it.
But the PS4 will not arrive until late january. So when I found out that Borderlands 2 was coming to plus on the 24th dec I actually stopped hoping for the PS4 to arrive before christmas. Giving me some time to play that last game before the PS3 retires. I loved the first Borderlands and I feel pretty sure that the sequel wont disappoint. So, even if it technically is a january game, Borderlands 2 would be my pick for PS+ game of the year : )

I say great games till you drop the ball & withdraw 1 of our IGC while SCEA keep theirs. :(

No, no, you’re all wrong, the correct answer was MGS HD Collection on the Vita.

My favourite for PS3 by far was Catherine, it had a very interesting story and the puzzle element to the blocks was a lot of fun and very addictive. Me and my friend would spend our day off shouting at eachother as we tried to complete babel and beat eachothers high score on the golden playhouse.

For Vita it was Thomas was Alone. Very minimaliatic but again, very fun. I was compelled to keep playing because the drip fed narration made me wamt to know what happended to Thomas and co.

Let me just get this out of the way. Plus offered fantastic PS3 games that I already had them, such as Uncharted 3, the weird, frustrating and fun Catherine or the brilliant Ico & Shadow of Colossus Collection.
Also my PS3 passed away on June and, that means that all my picks are Vita games, but pretty great picks at that.
I’ll start with a title I said it before on this blog and I’ll say it again, Thomas Was Alone is a very good puzzle platform game with a really weird way of telling a story, but I loved it.
Metal Gear and Ninja Gaiden really scratched the itch I had to go play those games, so I love that they were added to the plus collection.
But I’m going on a limb here and say that Soul Sacrifice will take the cake this year by a couple of reasons, I tried the demo and really liked it but have been waiting for a promotion ever since and I have a few friends that I managed to convince to get a vita, so… COOP IS A GO! YAY! (That and we probably will play Borderlands 2 on a splits...

Last but not least, Resogun is a very addicting and fun game, and it was free!
(Yeah, I picked a PS4 one, since I got one at launch :D)

Far Cry 3 was my 2012 GOTY and best game offered on ps+. This is why:
My mission was to take down an entire camp of enemies. I drove until I reached a communications tower, climbed through the structure and reached the top. There I crouch behind some trees so I don’t get spotted and take out my binoculars. I mark most of my enemies. Two of them are within the range of my bow. Two arrows leave my bow, roaring across the sky and reaching the skull of my unaware foes. I make my way to the river, stealthy so I won’t get caught. There’s a ramp that leads to a nice attack position, but I have to get myself wet. I dive in the river and start to swim. The camp was now mine. Best. Plus. Game.

So many good stuff you guys threw our way. My biggest surprises would have to be Demon Souls, Dragon’s Dogma and New Little King’s Story. Favorite? Virtue’s Last Reward, Demon Souls and Dragon’s dogma.

Demon Souls is probably the most time I spent this year on PS3. Its such a great little gem that I couldn’t find anywhere on retail stores so I never got the hype. But now its like the RPG of the generation. Same goes for Dragon’s Dogma, although I didn’t intend to get it even though I liked the demo, the full game however has changed my mind and I would probably buy a sequel if there ever is. So much combat freedom unknown to RPGs and can still provide you a challenge on hard mode.

1) Far cry 3
2) Sleeping dogs
3) Hitman Absolution

Can’t believe I missed Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for vita :(

Without a doubt, Far Cry 3 was my most enjoyable PS+ moment this year. I’d delayed picking it up when it released as I was just about to start training for a new job, and knew I’d get far too distracted hunting tigers and securing outposts to study if I bought it on release! Months later, training finally finished, just about to go out and secure myself a copy, and low and behold! Free on PS+ next month :-) Made my day, if not month, and definitely lived up to the hype. Thanks guys! And Merry Christmas!

What a way to start the next generation of gaming hands up for Contrast!!!!!

For sure DEMON’S SOULS

100

Definitely Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward, after playing 999 it was great to see this as a free title. Anyway, I bought it then boxed to support it further :)

One favourite is almost impossible to choose so here’s my list of almost favourites :)
Catherine
ICO & Shadow of the Colossus HD Collection
Okami HD
Binary Domain
Wipeout 2048
Soul Sacrifice

I got so much for so little, I’ll be still buying PS Plus even for two times the price. Until I die :)

1. Far Cry 3
2. Saints Row: 3
3. Sleeping Dogs
4. Kingdom of Amalur
5. Hitman Absolution

I already had bought Mafia 2 otherwise it would be my number 1 and Uncharted would be 2 but I already have them so my list starts with Far Cry 3. After 2 I didn’t want to buy 3, I didn’t like 2 but 3 was something completely different.

I already had bought Mafia 2 otherwise it would be my number 1 and Uncharted would be 2 but I already have them so my list starts with Far Cry 3. After 2 I didn’t want to buy 3, I didn’t like 2 but 3 was something completely different.

Thomas Was Alone was my favorite, However, I didn’t beat it
Contenders
XCOM
Okami HD
Metal Gear Rising
Demon’s Souls

1) Virtue’ Last Reward Zero Escape
2) Hitman Absolution
3) Far Cry 3
4) Catherine
5) Assassin’s Creed 3

I subscribed briefly earlier in the year, but then had let it lapse until I just recently got my Vita (and the IGC was one of the things that pushed me towards it over the 3DS), so I haven’t played the full range of games on offer. But for me the most interesting experience this year has been Catherine. The storyline is interesting, and those puzzles get more and more nerve racking as you progress through the game! The online element of showing percentage responses of people around the world was also a quirky addition to the game, and gave you some insight into how far off the norm your own moral compass was :)

Hitman Absolution

Never played a hitman game before and have no interest in playing one before. ‘it’s free so I may aswell give it a go’ led to one of the most enjoyable games this year. Platinum too which helped!

I also loved Kingdoms of Amalur although i’m disappointed the DLC wasn’t discounted at the time. I just can’t bring myself to pay £15 for DLC for a ‘free’ game. Still excellent though

There’s so many! Lord of the rings War in the North, Thomas was alone, mafia II, Far Cry 3, Resogun…

Plus really is an fantastic product!

May 2014 be as good!

ps bring back our 3rd ps3 game though please. Parity with the states at least. Thanks

Far cry 3 was the best game on plus from a pure quality standpoint but remember me was a great choice too.

I’m really grateful that spec ops and remember me were put on plus in spite of their relatively low metacritic scores since they’re games that definitely deserved to be played for the experience they provide. Even though I had already played spec ops on PC I’m glad that it was free on plus for ps3 folk to enjoy.

Even something like F1 RaceStars I really loved for its four player split screen fun.

I get really sick and annoyed at the people on here who moan about playstation plus, it annoys me no end lreading the complaints at monthly updates. I can’t remember there being a single bad monthly update … It’s always ranged from ok to fantastic. More often than not it tends to the latter!

I think it’s great that Chris and jawad can still reply to so many comments despite having to wade through so many messages filled with whiney self entitled nonsense.

Well, I havent been with Plus for so long, I started in late September I think. I havenät even tried all the games I’ve got yet. But I can tell about my experiences I´ve had so far.

My most favourite, or rather memorable, moment was in Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams. I would not call this my favourite moment because it was so frustrating. That moment was at the final boss… I really hate that damn dragon… I don’t know how long I tried to kill that big, fat lizard. It must have been at least an hour. I don’t even know anymore, that dragon almost took my sanity from me. I was so mad and yelled at my TV everytime I died. At some points I almost gave up my hope and thought about quit this game and erase it for good. But I never gave up, I tried and tried and tried, and just couldn’t kill that dragon. So I tried my plan B that I always use when I get mad in a game, YouTube. But that didn’t seem to work, I couldn’t see any difference of what he did in the video. So I tried again, and won. I...

I finally had beaten the game, I screamed “YEEEESSSSSSS!!!” for as long I could. So, when I returned to the title screen I quit the game and erased it. I was happy.

(Final)

As you can guess, Giana Sisters wasn’t my favourite game. In fact, it was my least favourite from my Plus games. But my favourite so far is clearly Metal Gear Rising. It has a really good feel, it has awsome gameplay and great boss battles, unlike Giana Sisters… I haven’t completed the game yet so I can’t tell so much about it. But what I can say is that it’s awsome.

109

Id say the game I enjoyed the most so far on PS+ was MGR:R…..Amazing visuals, runs well, gameplay was fast and frantic and th VR missions kept me busy.

Oh yeah…..and the soundtrack <3

For Vita….just to be different Touch My Katamari. Duno what it was about that game….just couldn't leave my vita alone ^_^ xD

Best game I’ve played this year was Deus Ex Human Revolution, but it was part of 2011 IGC, so I can’t vote for it, I’ll go with Far Cry 3 or Dragon’s Dogma then.

Hitman absolution was my favorite, that game alone was worth the annual subscription cost, also enjoyed sonic racing transformed, and sfx tekken on the vita.

My favourite game was definitely Sleeping Dogs. As a big martial arts fan Sleeping Dogs was so exciting game to play. I don’t play nowdays so much that I used to years ago, but this game had something in it that I used more than 50 hours playing it. And that something was great game world and deep combat system which wasn’t overcomplicated. Hong Kong felt so alive!

There were other good games on Playstation Plus, but none of them got more attention or playing time than Sleeping Dogs. Definitely waiting for a sequel.

113

For me, it was Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark.
First because it was released just a month before it hit IGC list, so it was a really fresh game.
Second because it was a type of game (platformer) that I never pay for and I never play any of them. But since it came in IGC list, PS Plus made me experience new aspects of video games that I never explored before, so I’m grateful for that because I really loved this game.
Third because I now have a taste in platformer genre. Now I say “is this game like Stealth, because I love Stealth.”
Forth because now I’m not afraid of exploring any new genre. I have to admit that PS Plus made my eyes open and now I skip all that same shooter games that I used to play (like COD) and I play different games in different genres and I’m extremely happy about it.
Thank you PS Plus team.

114

Sleeping Dogs is the best, I got all the DLC and cos of PS Plus I could jump straight in and not have to find the disc.

Best game that I didn’t already own:
Metal Gear Rising
Thomas Was Alone

115

I’m surprised to say that Virtue’s Last Reward was my favourite. Visual novels aren’t usually my thing but I got pretty sick earlier in the year and was confined to my bed. The only things I could do were sleep and play Vita, and the bizarre, otherworldly quality of Zero Escape was amplified by my fever. I managed to get lost in endless sessions exploring that crazy, harsh, messy game world. I’m not sure I could ever do it again, but I felt a strange bond with that thing that I never expected.

Got to be Demon’s Souls. One of the best PS3 exclusives. The game was simply amazing. I really hope they make Demon’s Souls 2 for PS4 (I know Dark Souls 2 is coming to PS3 but Demon’s Souls was a much more challenging game).

Looking forward to playing Borderlands 2 as well. I surprisingly had fun a lot F1 Race Stars. Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for the Vita was great as well.

117

Since joining PS+ in June, every month has had great games, but my favorite has to be Spec Ops:The Line. It wasn’t the first game to make me pause and think of what decision to make, but it was the first one where I found myself verbally justifying why I had made my choice and seriously wonder if I had made a mistake.

Special mention also to Kingdoms of Amalur, Need for Speed: Most Wanted and Remember Me.

With 2014 starting with DMC and Borderlands 2, PS+ is just getting better and better.

Okami was my favourite PS+ game this year. I know we all moan sometimes about particular games being included but there is no doubt that PS+ is incredible value for money. I just hope that the PS3 content stays strong in the future for those of us who aren’t ready to upgrade to PS4 just yet

119

This year was filled with great game that I didn’t know how good it was. I felt really bad as a gamer. One of the games I really enjoyed playing it was Mafia 2. This game is really a masterpiece. It has great story, gameplay and characters. I hope there will be another game like this. Also , I enjoyed playing X-com : Enemy unknown. I never thought I’ll enjoy type of game like x-com. And the last game that surprised me was MASS EFFECT3. Yes, Mas effect3. To be honest. I didn’t know about this game and how the trilogy is so beloved to the fans. After spending over 35 hours in the game, Its by far the best Plus game of 2013. I think this and Mafia are pretty close to each other.
Finally. Thanks for all your hard work on bringing these awesome games to Plus members :)

I can still remember, Remember Me. I remember that it was enjoyable playing, hunting for memories…

A slightly odd choice, but my best Plus game this year was the original God Of War. I was never interested in that genre but gave it a go and had a great time – I immediately bought GoW2&3 and played them to death too, amazing. I have Acension ready to go, just slightly distracted by Mafia II. And Remember Me. And Guacamelee. And so much else!

122

Sleeping Dogs hands down the best plus game. Never would have bought it but dam it was good. Thank you plus!

123

My favourite game that I wouldn’t have played without PS+ would probably be Resogun.

My favourite game in general on that list is probably Borderlands 2, though.

It’s been a good year, but I have to say you guys need to step your game back up. Our PS+ used to be the best, lately all we seem to get is just almost exactly what the US got around a month later. That’s a really poor effort, and I hope you guys can bring the standard of the service back up to where it used to be.

124

Im Czech so I have no other choice than to say Mafia II (it’s a czech game for those who dont know). I’m very happy that it is on first place in downloading and that it beats games like Uncharted 3, Far Cry 3 and other great games – It’s a small victory for my country :-).
It’s only shame that in digital version it hasnt czech dubbing nor subtitles – If I know, it’s the only one story game with czech dubbing and I was looking forward to hear czech language in PS3 game for first time… especialy when Joe Barbaro is dubbed with the same person who dubbed Homer Simpson – can you even imagine this? :-)

125

So many! Still working my way through Arkham City, looking forward to downloading Uncharted 3, some great titles on Vita, Virtues Last reward, Gravity Rush, Uncharted again.

I think the best deal even though I don’t have a PS4 is the fact these games are included to, Resogun, the top rated PS4 launch game is free

monkeyfunker_OAP 21 December, 2013 @ 14:48
126

Even though there were big name games on the list this year, the one that took me by complete surprise was Thomas was alone. I really didn’t think it was my type of game but after getting to grips with it I finished it in one sitting (not normal for me as real-life tends to get in the way).

Far Cry 3 was perhaps the best and most suprising inclusion to IGC this year. A fantastic selection of games all round.

128

My favourite is Assassins creed 3 and Battlefield 3. I already bought these 2 games when it came out but I sold it after I was done. I didn’t really play battlefield 3 when I had it, coz I got stuck on a mission and kept dying, so I sold that. But when I got it on igc I started playing online.

129

Probably something like Catherine or Lumines Electronic Symphony. If anything the ‘Instant Game Collection’ probably has made spend less on the PS Store!

You like about 2 or 3 games a year and have to subscribe for a lifetime to have access to them! So, not a model that seems to be working for me.

I would like to pay around £5 a year or so, for cloud saves. That’s the only subcription option I would consider in the future.

130

For me , it has to be the awesome Zero Escape : Virtues Last Reward. The VN genre is on of my favourites, and this game is one of the best in that group.

And now, Soul Sacrifice is arriving which will also be awesome :D

There were a lot of great games on plus this year, some of them only avoid being my best of 2013 because I already got them at retail. But I was astounded when we got Sleeping Dogs, Me3 and Ac3. All 3 of these had interested me previously but plus plunged me into all 3 headlong. Each were epic in size and story, they all had rich, rich worlds and deep protagonists. Wei Shen was easily the coolest man I met this year, Shepherd the most zealous and with Ac3 we got 2 in 1 juicy plus offering, my personal favourite was Hatham, but Connor was a smouldering firecracker we journeyed with from his childhood. I won’t ever doubt the ac franchise again!

Thank you to the plus team for delivering these dynamite blockbusters aswell as showing me some smaller gems too like Ico and Sotc and Limbo. A stellar service plus has been and long may it continue! I am not ashamed if this reads like a love letter to plus – IT IS DESERVED!

Shadow of the colossus was by far the favourite one for me.I played the demo of it on ps2 and i was scared by it(i was a child) so i didnt end up buying it. Now that a played the full game, i can safely say it deserves 100% the praise it gets. Its just an awsome experience, definately in my top 3 games of all time. Thank you ps plus for giving me the oportunity to play this .

I don’t think a lot of people realise it but this list is not the best games of PS+ but just the 5 games that people downloaded the most.
For example games like Sleeping Dogs, Mass Effect 3, Far Cry 3 etc are better but a lot of people already own them so didn’t need to download them..

Reading some of the comments above it gives a false impression of what people believe this list to be.

Had a blast with lots of games but if I were to pick just one, I’d say Mafia 2. Would never have thought to try it out but thanks to PS+ I had the opportunity to play it and damn it was the best gaming experience I’ve had in recent years

135

I recently joined plus and I missed most of the games, but I had a blast going for the platinum trophy for saints row: the third. I really enjoyed guacamelee too. I am not that familiar with latin american culture, but that game was very cute with all the posters and conversations and “Vientos” :D . honestly I would not be playing those great games if it wasn’t for ps plus.

136

I like criminal atmosphere in games and movies and this year give awesome criminal games! Sleeping Dogs – Hong Kong criminals with triads and kung-fu fighting, Hitman Absolution – silent assassin against cops, bandits and agensy, finaly Mafia with Tomy Gun, whisky, brilliant retro cars and honor code. Thank you Sony and all PS+ team. You are best of the best!

It’s hard to choose among so many great titles. I really feel like the investment I cautiously made in PS+ has repaid itself tenfold. I spent long hours with Demon’s Souls, revisiting grim fantasy world and, admittedly, harassing newcomers. I completed Mass Effect trilogy, ending years’ long battle of commandor Shepard. I finally got to play ICO, to much joy and amazement.

But one game from PS+ vast offering got me stuck to my PS3 for long hours, months and coming back for more: X-COM. I missed it in 2012, mostly due to the fact my PC broke, haven’t gotten around to buying and playing it , but then it appeared on PS+ and I said “oh, that” and gave it a try. What a ride it has been, really: fighting aliens, developing team, frantically researching alien technologies, fighting aliens some more.

Brilliiant, brilliant game that I would have missed out on, were it not for PS+.

Xcom!

My favorite Playstation Plus announcement would have to be the announcement of Hitman Absolution. At the end of the day on Wednesday, I saw the words that lifted my heart “Entering PS Plus in May: Hitman Absolution”. The start of the line for the biggest gaming weekend of my entire life! I could finally stop sleeping on my rock hard bed,and stay up for the entire week playing the best game in Playstation Plus history. But all good things must come to an end, and that meant I had to leave the magic that was Hitman Absolution and go outside and live my ordinary life, and play my ordinary video games.

It’s just not the games that made 2013 epic, it was also or the little things like exclusive themes, avatars. But there is nothing like playing te beta’s, and boy o boy wasn’t there some good ones. My top Beta games of 2013 would be Defiance and Killzone Mercenary :)

I can’t believe what I see on this blog every month, no matter what we get given on PS+ it is always worth the subscription. Once again good jobs guys and I think i speak for everyone when I say 2014 is going to be a great year for PS+

140

you could make an option to download games we missed after we joined PS+……just for 1 day option?

SONY? XMAS GIFT?

I would love to download games I missed….

For me, XCOM: Enemy Unknown was the best game released on PS+ this year, fully deserving its flagship status as a year-long title. One of the best SRPGs I’ve ever had the pleasure to play.

Virtue’s Last Reward was comfortably my most played Vita game of the year. I was captivated for the full 40-hour ride; an incredible experience.

Overall, it has been an phenomenal year for the service: Rayman Origins, Guacamelee, Uncharted: GA, The Jak and Daxter Trilogy, Stealth Inc., Hitman, Motorstorm RC, F1 Race Stars, Catherine, The Cave, Quantum Conundrum and more have provided my family with countless hours of entertainment.

And that’s before you take into account titles that I haven’t started, which include some of the biggest games of the last couple of years: Mass Effect 3, Assassin’s Creed 3, Sleeping Dogs, Far Cry 3, Uncharted 3, Batman: AC, Sonic Racing Transformed, R&C: All 4 One, ICO and SOTC HD, Remember Me, SR3, Demon’s Souls, GRID 2, MGS Revengeance and the new PS4 titles: Reso...

There are enough titles there for years to come, including a wide variety of genres. I’m just pleased that PS+, with the arrival of the PS4, is still supporting the older systems. Cross-buy and cross save are fantastically implemented with many titles, and having them all on the HDD ready to launch at the push of a button is unbelievable. Then there are the discounts that come with most purchases as well; the £39.99 price pays for itself dozens of times over.

PS+ was one of the main reasons why I picked up a Vita this year, and it will be why I get a PS4 in the New Year. Furthermore, with some of the upcoming titles already announced, the momentum seems to be continuing. Here’s to an amazing 2014 and beyond!

143

None.
I already own and played all multiplatform games on the pc.As for the rest i either own them or have played them before.(with the exception of Catherine which wasn’t very good)Ps2 games i played those a long time.
The vita games were all meh except Uncharted.Resogun wasn’t that special either.Contrast was trash.
The only reason why i will remain a subscriber is because of cloud saves and the mandatory paywall on the ps4.

Still if you are not a game collector like me i can see a lot of value into this service.

I had waited a lot before I got my first PS Plus subscription. I guess it was because that i had most of the games of what the IGC could offer. But in the summer it all changed and suddenly PS Plus became a great deal for me, and i guess for many other players.
My favourite is Xcom: Enemy Unknown. As I remember I didnt expect anything from this game, because the gameplay was a bit outdated for me as i had seen it on the videos. Oh was I so wrong.
Xcom: Enemy Unknown kept me sitting on my couch for hours after installing it. It was such a positive experience which i didn’t see coming.
All in all, there was many great games coming from PS Plus, but Xcom was the greatest, because it could suprise me the most. Surely I would’ve missed it, if it wasn’t in the IGC, and that.

145

Binary Domain wasn’t on Playstation Plus this year.

146

Best games by Playstation Plus of 2013 for me were:

XCOM Enemy Unknown
Metal Gear Rising Revengeance

And as the suggestion for service improvement i would like to see discounts for all DLCs for Free games automatically.

Omg guys y is it so hard??? I no the best game of 2013 and it was soooo verry easly the last of us

148

Guacamelee for sure! I hadn’t played a fun co-op game with my brother in ages. We need more games like it.

@ghettokid1987
Binary Domain was the german replacement for Sleeping Dogs.

An average shooter as a replacement for a game that many mentioned as their favorite game of the year here. Thanks once again for that “fair trade” SCEE and Square Enix!

My favourite PS+ game this year was Guacamelee. So good it eventually became my Game of the year for 2013 as well. And that has been one of the best things about PS+ for me, being able to discover surprising gems that I would never have considered buying on my own.

A favourite moment of my year thanks to PS+ was playing the asynchronous multiplayer on NFS: Most Wanted with friends. I already owned the game on disc but PS+ allowed my friends to try the game and as a result my experience with the game was much better than if I had played it on my own.

Finally, with PS+ I always have one eye on the future and I can’t wait to see what the service has in store for 2014. With DmC and Borderlands 2 on Ps+ in January, the year is off to a good start.

Thanks to the PlayStation team for a great 2013. Happy holidays.
