MouseCraft brings cheese-based puzzling to PS Vita

Fiendish platforming action from Curve Studios due in May

Hey everyone, Rob from Curve here! It seems like only a few weeks ago I was here talking about our Mega bundle of 2013 games, and now we’re spending February announcing a bunch of new games for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita in 2014! Last week we announced that Stealth Inc would be coming to the PS4 in an Ultimate Edition bundle, but this week we’re very happy to announce something brand new: an indie puzzle game called MouseCraft.

MouseCraft takes some of the most recognisable elements of classic puzzle games and combines them to create something that’s completely new and great fun to play, especially on a portable device like PS Vita. The basic gameplay is very simple: Your goal is to lead a group of mice through a machine to find the cheese at the other end of the level.

You don’t control the mice directly however, but instead control their environment through the use of many different types of classic ‘Tetromino’ blocks that can be dropped onto the level. Imagine the careful strategy and planning of a game like Lemmings with the blocks and fast-paced decision making of Tetris, and you’ve got an idea of how MouseCraft works.

There are over 50 levels in the campaign mode, and as you play the path and methods of getting to the exits becomes more and more complicated, introduce different blocks that can used to avoid obstacles, create new paths and defeat enemies. On top of that, the game also includes leaderboards, collectables, a ranking system and a fully-featured level editor available during launch.

MouseCraft is our first game that Curve are releasing on PlayStation at the exact same time as the PC release, something we hope to be doing more and more in the future. It’s also our first PS Vita game of 2014, so it’s an exciting title for us! The Vita version should available in early May, and we’re also planning a PlayStation 4 version of the game to be released this summer.

We’ll be talking more about the gameplay and the level-editor in the future, but in meantime I’d be happy to try and answer any gameplay questions in the comments!

Will the game be cross-buy/cross-save?

We haven’t confirmed a PS4 version is 100% yet so we can’t confirm those features, but yes, that is the goal!

Great looking game. I’ll be fighting to review this one!

I like the look of this, big puzzle game fan here and also a fan of curve (and your twitter feed ;) ) I’ll be grabbing vita version so any cross buy will be a bonus as I also own a ps4 but if its not cross buy its not a deal breaker as handhelds and puzzle games go together like jelly and ice cream (yum!)

So 2 down 2 to go

I love playing puzzle games on the Vita, so I’ll be picking this one up for sure.

Cross-buy and cross-save, pleeeeeeease!

Looks really good! Any chance of Platinum trophy ? if there is than a confirmed day 1 for me ;)

As Tom says below, unfortunately the game is too ‘small’ for us to be allowed a platinum on this one, but we’ve got a game announcement in a few weeks that will have a platinum!

The bundle was fantastic, I’m really enjoying your games on the Vita. They’re fun, they look great, they’re unique with a strong flavour of indie and they don’t take much from the wallet or from the memory card! They’ve got instabuy written all over them basically. Keep them coming Curve :)

Thank you very much, we love working on the Vita!

Hey guys! Crunching Koalas, the creators of the game here!

Thanks for all the kind words about MouseCraft – it’s really good to hear that people like our game even though it’s not a big AAA title like Call of Duty or Battlefield :).

– We still don’t have any details about cross-buy and cross-save but we will definitely try to look into it and implement it in the game!
– The game is too small to have a Platinum Trophy, but there will be Golden and Silver ones – hope you’ll like them!

If you like the game- you can follow us on Twitter or Facebook ( We tend to post regular updates!

Thanks again and see you on the Vita!

We close the comments for posts after 30 days.
