Weekend Debate: Who got you into videogames? (Update)

ORIGINAL POST: Playing through the (excellent) Strider re-boot this week got me strolling down memory lane, pondering the very first time I picked up a joystick – which was right around when Capcom’s original was released.
So, it’s time to give credit where credit’s due. Anyone who counts gaming as a hobby was introduced to the medium by someone – a friend, a parent, a sister, a brother, a cousin. I want to hear your stories and shout-outs. Share your ‘day 0’ story below and let us know how you first got into gaming.
Me? Well, when I was knee high to a grasshopper my mum occasionally used to take me into work with her during school holidays (yes, her colleagues must have loved that). To keep me out of trouble, the man at the desk opposite would set me up on his computer playing an extremely primitive 3D grand prix racing game. I’ve no idea what it was called, but I never looked back.
