Match-3 puzzler Sparkle 2 coming to PS4 and PS Vita

Shiny puzzling action arrives on PlayStation Store next week

Hello again! I’m back today to announce 10tons is about to bring another hit action puzzle game, Sparkle 2, to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. The game will launch on both platforms on 21st May, with Cross Buy.

Sparkle 2 is a superbly polished match-three marble shooter action puzzle game set in a mysterious world of magic and wonder. The game features superbly smooth gameplay, plenty of powerups with big special effects, beautiful graphics and a cinematic soundtrack. Check out the trailer to see what it’s all about.

“An even more pleasant surprise, was how fun the game is to play with the Dualshock 4 touchpad”

Sparkle 2 was originally released in 2013 for PC and mobile as an eagerly waited sequel to one of our biggest hits. The original Sparkle is available for PS Vita, but we weren’t able to bring that game at full TV resolution. Sparkle 2, however, we can run in any resolution or aspect ratio and render the graphics as large as we like. The PS4 version looks simply amazing.

We’re particularly proud of how well the basic gameplay translated to gamepad controls. Marble shooters play great with mouse controls or a touchsceen, and we had an idea it’d work with a gamepad analogue stick too. We just didn’t expect it to be quite as good as Sparkle 2 turned out.

An even bigger unknown, and an even more pleasant surprise, was how fun the game is to play with the Dualshock 4 touchpad. We’re using it basically like a mouse, with an on-screen pointer, and it works really nicely. On PS Vita we of course use the touchscreen, and it’s just awesome.

So, check PSN in a couple of weeks for Sparkle 2 and download the free trial! We are also hard at work on our next PS4 release, which we hope to tell more about in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Did you enjoy this?

Got no problem with indie releases. But what I think is sad is that we are only getting old indie games released long time ago :/ Same thing with Dead Nation,Stick it to the man,Titan Attacks,FEZ,King Oddball,Pure Chess. etc.

Would have been another thing if it was Sparkle 3 and released newly.

It would be nice to get something like this in the PS4 IGC in June. We’ve had a lot of shooting and platforming recently. Let’s have something totally different in June please.

I agree, I still have the trial for Sparkle on my Vita, never got around to buying it and will wait for this one now.
At least Diablo 3 PS4 got dated today, August 19th for USA so hopefully it’s the 20th for low life Europeans!

Played the first Sparkle long time ago on PC and enjoyed every second of it – it was in some elements better than Zumas and Luxors!

I’ll gladly play this one on my Vita.

Anybody want a vita, because my one has been gathering dust since I bought it. As for the ps4 I bought one because I though there would be ground breaking games with amazing graphics but all we get, mostly, is a return the 80s and 90s basic 2d platform games.

Stop moaning and try actually playing the games. There’s plenty out there to keep you occupied until the AAA games start landing on PS4. PLENTY. Unless you’ve finished EVERY game out for PS4 already?

As for Vita, mine is my most used console these days. I’ve a 64GB card full of compelling games, including Final Fantasy X HD and Persona 4 Golden; those 2 games alone have at least 40 hours each of play in them. If you can’t find something you want to play it’s most likely you’re not trying hard enough.

You’ve just not given them a chance. PS4 has not even been out 6 months yet – the early days of a console are obviously going to be sparser for AAA titles than the latter years.

Perhaps you are just new at this gaming lark and don’t have the patience and experience to comprehend what is happening.

Have to agree with Bumblebee, consoles and handhelds when first released don’t have a huge library of software.

Why is it that a game is judged on graphics alone? Graphics do not make a game, game play does. I can think of numerous games that were supposedly stunning graphically but had bug after bug after bug which made me stop playing. AAA games are simply games that have had a lot of money poured into them, just because money has been thrown hand over fist into something doesn’t make it good, ground breaking or amazing.

There are plenty of games available to play on both vita and PS4, if you are close minded then you may as well find a new hobby as of course there will never be anything for you. If however you are willing to put prejudices aside then you may find something new and interesting that you never considered before. I know someone who won’t play anything but triple AAA games and tried Thomas is Alone of all things and actually enjoyed it.

Chances are there will be fewer AAA releases as there are fewer games companies now and no company is going to pour loads of money into creating new IP’s, the days on the PS2 where companies took risks are over so you can look forward to one sequel after another. Just look at Hollywood film releases, they do the same thing…groundbreaking irrelevant, ££££ relevant. AAA games are like fast food, it’s why they go down in price so quickly as within 3 months its reached its sell by date but I digress…there is loads to play on both vita and ps4, so much that I now have a backlog on both.

“So, check PSN in a couple of weeks for Sparkle 2 and download the free trial!”

Calling it now – there won’t be a free trial on the EU store

I know, it’s a shame that even when the developer themselves posts something here on the blog we can’t take it as given any more. Even if we ignore the whole DriveClub demo thing there’s been the charging for the free Skullgirls DLC, the Octodad PS+ discount and last week a price hike on Titan Attacks less than 24 hours after Curve announced the price.

Three developers made to look bad by silly little mistakes made at SCEE, what’s one more?

Flipside666 12 May, 2014 @ 4:44 pm   7

Wish, don’t know if the PS4 can handle this, might overheat lol, seriously though where is peggle 2 it’s been on xbone long enough now.

@Sicmay, it’s good to know I’m not the only one who knows that Zuma was NOT the original implementation of this idea. 🙂
