YouTube app coming to PS4 this Autumn

With full SHARE button integration included

Happy E3! As you may have heard during PlayStation’s press conference, the YouTube team has been working hard to bring you a fully featured YouTube app to PlayStation 4, where you can find and play all of YouTube including music videos, gaming videos, live streams and more. Today, we’re delighted to announce that YouTube is coming to PS4 this Autumn!

Sharing your greatest gaming achievements on YouTube will be a piece of cake on PS4 thanks to the dedicated sharing capabilities at the very heart of the PS4. YouTube will officially be one of the social options offered when you press the SHARE button on your DualShock 4. After pressing SHARE, you’ll see the YouTube icon pop up alongside Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, and Ustream and in just a couple of quick steps, you can go from playing your favourite games to publishing videos on your own YouTube channel. You’ll also be able to see your friends’ shared YouTube videos using the “What’s New” feed.

In addition to the integrated sharing functionality, we will simultaneously launch a YouTube app on PS4 (just like on PS3) where you can access your favorite YouTube channels, videos and personalities.

We can’t wait for you all to start sharing your gaming triumphs on YouTube! Look for more news coming soon. In the meantime, what games are you looking forward to sharing on YouTube?

Please fix the YouTube app for the PlayStation Vita. You can’t thumbs up or down, comment, and subscribing to some channels. I find the PS Vita YouTube app way better than the PS3.

great news .. this was the biggest thing that held people back from sharing their gameplay. I will make a dedicated YT account just so I can share clips with friends (not in to sharing games on facebook, regular yt etc etc since most of my friends aren’t in to games and wouldn’t understand)

Please add HDMI-CEC support, so the TV remote can be used for navigating(Netflix still lacks this on PS4, not PS3).

The share button is still acting weird, I have it set to record the last 5 minutes but it seems it only records for 5 minutes and then stops until you press the Share button again (if you wait more than 5 minutes there is nothing to share). Is this a feature or a bug? Maybe it should be better explained.

Awesome, been waiting for this. Now all we need is the ability to play video and audio files off an external drive (which I was actually hoping would at least be acknowledged at E3, if not announced). Then the PS4 will finally match the PS3’s feature set!

I don’t know why it wasn’t available on PS4 at launch, but great news its finally coming to PS4 😀

Full Twitch app next, please.

I don’t think that support for playing audio and video files will ever come, because Sony are too intent on trying to sell us their terrible streaming services. Hope I’m wrong.

As a US citizen, I do hope this is true. If it is, I say YIPPPEEEE!

This is great news if it’s true – Autumn will be an awesome month for PS4 with games like THE EVIL WITHIN and ALIEN : ISOLATION and now the news of this YOUTUBE app which has been so long coming!
