FIA certifies four tracks for Gran Turismo 6

News on an unprecedented collaboration with Polyphony Digital

Hello everyone. Yesterday, for the millions of Gran Turismo fans the world over, there was an intriguing announcement that pays further testament as to how the Real Driving Simulator continues to bring the real and virtual motor racing worlds ever closer.

In what is a completely unprecedented step, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) the governing body of motorsports worldwide, has officially certified four tracks from Gran Turismo 6. This makes it the first-ever video game to have officially certified FIA content.

So what does this all mean? Well, for a start, it means that we can look forward to the creation of brand new experiences for GT6, in the form of a special FIA Online Championship – which we can expect to see in 2015.

This exclusive and absolutely unique online championship is part of what is planned as a long-term collaboration between the FIA and Polyphony, the development team behind the ground-breaking Gran Turismo game.

Here’s what Gran Turismo creator and President of Polyphony Digital Inc. Kazunori Yamauchi had to say about this new partnership:

“We are incredibly proud for the Gran Turismo Series to be officially certified by the governing body of world motorsports. In the over 15 year history of Gran Turismo, this has to be the biggest accolade we have ever received. I believe this will be a major step to forward our mission to connect our virtual and real racing worlds in a full circle, thereby expanding the population of car and motorsports enthusiasts in the world.”

More on the collaboration incoming very soon, so keep your eyes on and PlayStation Blog for more news.

Sounds great. Saw this on the official website earlier and noticed it mentions how some tracks will be changed in the game. Also the Nissan GT Vision car is going to be revealed in the flesh at the Goodwood Festival of Speed grounds tomorrow. ^_^

Not sure if serious about “sounds great”.

I was hoping for four new tracks….

I was hoping for less tracks and less cars. End this mess and give us only the quality ones! Gran Turismo once stood for great quality…

Good news.

(Please, bring the sound update, so I can buy this game already.)

Um. PS4 Version. Please.

That should be announced at gamescom.

GT6 getting better every day :)

Good news for the guys at PD, unfortunately I will never be buying a gt at launch again.
– Still waiting for the monthly dlc program to begin, it is sporadic at best.
– engine noise update has not even been mentioned since launch (no doubt the promise was made to dupe people into buying the game on the basis it will sound like a real racing game eventually)
– b spec mode still not in game
– track generator still not in game
– the new track (zahara) that was promised for February has not been talked about since….February
– ai is still basically moving obstacles, not offering an ounce of challenge.
– seasonal races have only just gone online 7 months after launch.

The sadest part is that GT5 support got killed because of the cash-in which they call GT6.

Same thoughts exactly, except instead of not getting it at launch again I will just not be getting another GT fullstop.

Really hoping this will get release on ps4 at some point or maybe even gt7 news. Otherwise looks like I’ll have to go for driveclub

Nice 1 ;) Any chance of forgetting GT6 now tho :D & just working completely on GT7 for PS4? :P Maybe it’s just me but it seems pointless now doing any more stuff for GT6, i can’t see the point? Unless SONY are making loads of money from the DLC still? I can’t see that tho. Oh well;)

”it seems pointless now doing any more stuff for GT6”

Pointless? How about making the game as it should be in the first place? How about delivering what was promised, so a lot of us that knew it was incomplete on launch, would be able to buy it and enjoy it?

You are actually asking leaving games unfinished, and braking promises to be the norm. What good is half a GT game on PS4 (apart from being able to play it on next gen console?).

Great to see Polyphony keeping ahead of the game and offering something Driveclub and PCars don’t.

Exactly. You won’t find half arsed, half finished games in Driveclub and Project Cars. Nor do those two titles have the superb sound of GT6!!

There won’t be another GT title ever bought from me!

I’m with you there. It has become a disgrace.

We need some racing on PS4
