These prices are really bad. A map pack for 12 instead of 14 is a slap in the face of every Sony customer

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 1:39 pm

Also … The map packs ruin the matchmaking. Even when you have all map packs, you find less games with bigger lag! Only in MW3 you can deactivate them in Blops2 you cant so your game is ruined forever

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 1:59 pm

**UPDATE** 65 comments into this sale not one positive comments by the readers. Please remove this and post the NEXT SALE

    Mywlan2 16 July, 2014 @ 4:41 pm

    thats aktivision for u

What a terrible sale

hilts663 16 July, 2014 @ 1:08 pm   3

What about the “huge sale” you guys mentioned last week in the comments?

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 1:11 pm

Yeah Fred has done this also in the past. Stop promising sales when there isnt any 😉

    Jawad Ashraf 16 July, 2014 @ 2:29 pm

I mentioned another promotion, but I didn’t say it when that would be (give it two weeks).

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 2:31 pm

Ok jawad no problems thanks for keeping us updated:)

    UK_Rocklance 16 July, 2014 @ 2:44 pm

@Jawad, Someone did ask you “when” — later today, later this week, later this month. You didn’t answer him. Had you given an answer (eg. ‘give it three weeks’), then we would know what to expect and not be misled.

Let’s be honest, even you wouldn’t call this Activision ploy a “sale”, would you? We will look forward to your other promotion – the real sale – in a couple of weeks then. (Hmm… in a couple of weeks, that will make it the “August Sale”. So July is the month of lame discounts then.)

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 2:51 pm

There might be another Deal of the week today when he posts the store update. Plus maybe even more sales, who knows. I havent checked the store yet , sometimes they are live early. We did have a ton of good games on sale lately tho, more than US… Even if some sales offers were not so good:)

Was it so hard to give an ETA last week? At first we though it would be last week. Then that it would be this week… I guess that all the sales that would have been this week, including deals, were moved towards those next two weeks, sigh. Not expecting anything good next week either in that case.

    NOSAJ19 16 July, 2014 @ 5:26 pm

It didn’t exactly help that when the new sale comment was made without an ETA that it was almost immediately followed up by a weekend $0.99 flash sale, which naturally would people have every right to think was coming to the European PlayStation Store, considering no further reply to provide an ETA regarding the new sale comment.

SCEA’s sales are always so smecksy. On the other hand. SCEE gives us CoD, which is still more expensive than standard Xbox price, ugh.

Oh and I’ve never heard of “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2”

Modern Warfare 3 and Black Ops 2 still for 70€!? It would be nice discount if there was no retail. LOL at activision and their digital prices. 70€ is insane for 2011 game (MW3). And who buy 3 years old games for 70€!

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 1:12 pm

Great Point. They need to make the permanent price of BO2 30 euros and then in a sale it can be 15 ! That is acceptable for such a AAA titles. But we are telling this to a company that is almost broke and dying , their investors are really angry. Sony does not listen to customers.

    Crumptastic_86 16 July, 2014 @ 1:27 pm

@AlemanGC Publishers, not Sony, set the prices so not sure what your swipe at Sony is about….the prices are awful but I’ll respond by not giving Activision any of my money.

Considering most of the games can be bought preowned for £3 – £10, this is a pretty bad sale.

X_Weapon 16 July, 2014 @ 1:11 pm   7

Every time I see a CoD sale I think “maybe it’s time to try a cod, cod4: mw” then I look at the prices and go back to the original root: no CoD in my house.

BBear_27 16 July, 2014 @ 1:11 pm   8

Pretty lousy sale =/ wish WaW or cod 3 were available digitally at a decent sale price

harrythemukster 16 July, 2014 @ 1:11 pm   9

This is not a sale, this is highly inflated prices reduced to inflated prices.

sully1311 16 July, 2014 @ 1:11 pm   10

Those prices are a joke! There’s no point doing these sales if you are only going to reduce them by that much. Physical retail wins again in the UK/EU

    THUNDERCAT1973 16 July, 2014 @ 1:35 pm

this time blames more with activision than sony. activision think sale means rip people off

lukeo44 16 July, 2014 @ 1:12 pm   11

Exactly! My local game store sells MW2 & MW2 for £1.99 each, this sale is laughable

Roscoe182 16 July, 2014 @ 1:13 pm   12

my god, them prices are absolutely ridiculous.

JuDD3rd 16 July, 2014 @ 1:13 pm   13

Just about the worst “sale” I have ever seen.
Surely most anyone who is going to buy CoD has already bought it, and I can’t see the few people that haven’t biting with these, er… discounts?

Badmansam10 16 July, 2014 @ 1:13 pm   14

For any people looking to buy Black ops, Dont buy it as it is infested with hackers and treyarch/activision do nothing about it.

ADAMJAMESXX 16 July, 2014 @ 1:15 pm   15

Pretty sure Activision don’t understand stand what discounts and sales are :-Pworld at war map packs are useless the game is hacked to fxxk :-Dand will they lift a finger to fix it no.

harrythemukster 16 July, 2014 @ 1:15 pm   16

@Badmansam10 – and it’s not just BO – COD4, MW2 and mostly MW3 are also now nearly unplayable online

    Badmansam10 16 July, 2014 @ 3:12 pm

Yeah BO was my fave cod, but i didnt really play the others so i wasnt sure :/

INS1GHTFUL 16 July, 2014 @ 1:17 pm   17

Like everyone else is saying, this is a pretty bad sale. COD games are so common in second hand game shops that they can be bought for a few £’s. Game were running a sale 4 games for £20 which had several COD games included. So I could buy physical copies for several of these games for the price of one of them in this sale!

Shinobi-vs-Gast 16 July, 2014 @ 1:19 pm   18

Lol, you guys call this a sale?

Besides who even plays Call of Duty nowadays.

Rochala 16 July, 2014 @ 1:19 pm   19

On a dry gaming season like summer you should really try to make better sale, I am not complaining about prices but about the theme. CoD is an overrated game.

Jawad is this the only sale today ? Are we going to see more at the deal of the week or its CoD games there too ?

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 1:22 pm

Since tomorrow both of the current sales appear to be ending, I think we can still have hope 🙂

    Rochala 16 July, 2014 @ 1:31 pm

    There is always hope!
At least next two weeks will have New ‘n Tasty and Rogue legacy, so I know that at least I’ll have something to play 🙂

jonnyelsby 16 July, 2014 @ 1:19 pm   20

What a truly awful ‘sale’.

Fleexie 16 July, 2014 @ 1:22 pm   21

I really hope you have other “discounts” that comes on later today.
We have already had a couple CoD “sales” in the past, they have always been lame. The prices are ridiculous.

Roxas598 16 July, 2014 @ 1:25 pm   22

Heh “Sale”

DarkArchoNx66 16 July, 2014 @ 1:27 pm   23

hahaha! I could’ve bought Ghosts for under 10 euros. The rest don’t even worth 5.. Another terrible money grabbing attempt that’s doomed to fail.. You’ll get nothing from me..

    counterUAVbaby 16 July, 2014 @ 6:33 pm

    Where? you liar!

    DarkArchoNx66 17 July, 2014 @ 9:01 am

Do you have comprehension problems or something, mate? Bummer for you xD..

    counterUAVbaby 17 July, 2014 @ 2:03 pm

@DarkArchoNx66 You said you could have bought Ghosts under 10 euros and I asking you from where, there is no store that sells it under 10 euros, you must be the one who have issues in his mind!

    DarkArchoNx66 17 July, 2014 @ 2:44 pm

Yeah! You do have some troubles understanding. Did you notice me anywhere mentioning a store in specific? I was only talking about what the acceptable price of a same old recycled game that’s almost a year old, should be.. Had that been the case I could’ve bought it, probably.

    counterUAVbaby 17 July, 2014 @ 5:41 pm

Then if you think the series is that you are describing, then why you bother come on a topic about it? Let me guess? You are one of these butthurts who aren’t upset from other’s people happiness playing this game.

    counterUAVbaby 17 July, 2014 @ 8:22 pm

    DarkArchoNx66 18 July, 2014 @ 6:40 am

You’ve mistaken me for someone who gives a damn about what you think.. Almost everyone here is on the same page, so you are the one who’s butthurt.. I’m just expressing my opinion which has to do with something more important that you can even comprehend.I would appreciate if you bother someone else with your nonsense.. I am done with you anyway. Wasted enough of my time already.

DavoTheDiv 16 July, 2014 @ 1:28 pm   24

Happy April fools everyone…… Hold on…… erm. Sorry, this post confused me….. Sale you say. OK then…. (looks up the the ‘sale’ in the dictionary) Nope, sorry again…… Happy April fools everyone.

squiggledyboing 16 July, 2014 @ 1:30 pm   25

in the Voice of Comic book guy from The Simpsons…….”Worst sale ever”

No… please…. not another COD “sale”. I think by now all unaware parents should have already bought some COD game for their 10 year old children..

Really.. the form and prices of this sale is an insult… Its hard to even by neutral about it, because it is totally absurd, and someone is trying to make us think this is an actuall “sale”. Its like those shops that have the big “SALE” banners in front of them – for the whole year. It just makes the shop look silly. Also.. the 99.99 prices (I mean in general the marketing strategy).. really.. no one has the courage to say “this is worth 100”, and they still try to trick people with an idea that is xx years old…

THUNDERCAT1973 16 July, 2014 @ 1:33 pm   27

what a truly awful “sale” mind this time i blame activision and not sony for those laughable prices

If a publisher wants to do such a sale, it would be in this shops/blogs best interest to implement it, but quietly.. Respect/trust isn’t something that is easy to earn, and its even harder to get it back..

ephtrackx 16 July, 2014 @ 1:35 pm   29

What an awful, awful sale… Especially after pricecuts on Steam sales. *Insert random facepalm picture*

Scuffy_P 16 July, 2014 @ 1:36 pm   30

Sony can only blame the publishers so far until they have to take some responsibility themselves. It’s not as though the PSN Store is some random service anyone can sell products through. Sony give permission to the publisher to sell their games at the inflated prices, even though they understand (or at least should) the damage this does to digital distribution in general.

STOP passing the blame, and do something about it. You’re a laughing stock.

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 1:51 pm

Its sonys home, so publishers have limits and Sony needs to show them these limits, this is bad business to make people wait for sales always with horrible PSN prices, and then dissapoint them way too often.

    AlemanGC 16 July, 2014 @ 2:09 pm

Because its a fact as the publishers want to sell their games thru SONYS store , sony does make the rules and can influence prices.

loonyspoony 16 July, 2014 @ 1:36 pm   31

Great idea, have a sale for DLC that is at higher prices than your previous sale in March. Yes, we’re all stupid and can’t wait to hand over our money.

Faustofausto 16 July, 2014 @ 1:36 pm   32

This shi.. I mean sale run for two weeks? Okay…
I hope, not thats all for this week.

yobbo1985 16 July, 2014 @ 1:36 pm   33

This sale is AMAZING!!!

Said no one ever…

LordPaulio 16 July, 2014 @ 1:36 pm   34

Call Of 12 Year Olds Sale Starts Today!

drewblazer 16 July, 2014 @ 1:38 pm   36

49.99 euros for 8 months old title … 19.99 for 7 years old title (MW)? Typical Activision. Might as well drop price from 69.99 to 69.97 and call it a day. BTW what’s with those ridiculous digital PS4 prices in the first place? 69.99?

Jazumin 16 July, 2014 @ 1:39 pm   37

COD off.

moriarty1975 16 July, 2014 @ 1:39 pm   38

Still not going to correct the prices on the Ghosts DLC then?

Extinction Pack €2.99, should be €1.99

Flags of the World Pack €2.99, should be €1.99

Squad Pack – Resistance €2.99, should €3.99 [Surprised you haven’t fixed that one yet]

shavrath 16 July, 2014 @ 1:41 pm   39

Please, tell me that it isn’t the “huge sale” that was planned and promised in a post few days ago.

Shikome 16 July, 2014 @ 1:41 pm   40

If this is “all guns blazing” I’d hate to see what they’re like when they aren’t even trying… These wouldn’t even be impressive prices if they where permanent price drops rather than a limited sale…

DJROE95 16 July, 2014 @ 1:42 pm   41

Awww man – absolutely hate 1st person shooters, was really looking forward “huge sale” that was promised. Even bought a PSN voucher in the hopes of a proper summer sale like last year.
Fingers crossed there still might me a decent summer sale coming up?
*Just as a side note I don’t consider any of these prices a good deal – after searching Google for all of two seconds you can get COD:Ghosts for £24.99 on PS4, nuff said really.

    Rochala 16 July, 2014 @ 1:44 pm

If you are talking about The summer sale, it’s usually at August, let’s hope for something good then!

    DJROE95 16 July, 2014 @ 1:50 pm

Oh my good god – I hope so, Sony could make so much money if they put decent game on at a really great price with the drought that happens after E3.
Perhaps if everyone across Europe crosses their fingers and wishes extra hard we might be lucky ha ha 😀

    Drought after E3?

Well both One Piece Unlimited World Red and Dynasty Warriors Gundam Reborn came out after E3 that’s keeping me busy. You might want to actually google releases for both June and July, as there have been quite a few releases and not just Japanese games. August, already have 2 on pre-order (Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate PS4 and Akiba’s Trip PS3) and Sword Art Online on PSN for vita.

    DJROE95 16 July, 2014 @ 2:55 pm

It’s just a well known period of time between E3 and Gamescon where not many games come out- a lot of game related websites slow down on news around this time just a this blog has over the last couple of weeks.
I’m kinda interested in one piece but it’s not making wanna rush out and buy it now. If you compare just after E3 and then the games released in March and October – that’s the drought I’m on about, hence why it’s the perfect time to have a proper sale.
Just my opinion though and everyone is entitled to their own 🙂

One Piece is actually pretty good, it’s not like the other Pirate Warrior games. It has quests and some Monster Hunter bits like fishing and bug catching. There is also a georama aspect in that you build a town with items you find in quest or just free roaming an area. The fighting is similar but different meaning some characters have special moves that heal or you can use the SP for party attack it’s not like OPPW1 & 2 where you have these multiple musou like overpowered attacks . Some of the quests are fetch, others kill x amount or fish x amount while others are big monsters.

I picked it up on Amazon for £37 which was the cheapest I found it. I would recommend it but I guess it depends on what games you like whether you would enjoy it. If grinding isn’t your thing (as per most Japanese games) then it may get old quick

    DJROE95 16 July, 2014 @ 3:26 pm

Ahh ok then might check it out then I love JPRG’s and don’t mind a good old grind 🙂 not got anything pre ordered until Danganronpa 2 anyway. Thanks for recommending it to me and explaining a bit about it, better than a product description anyway 🙂

PIREDERAS 16 July, 2014 @ 1:43 pm   42

This is a joke of a sale. Maybe Activision should just not do any embarassing sale like this again, because these ridiculously overblown prices only insult gamers. It should read “was €30, now €15” for games like Black Ops 2, while CoD 4: Modern Warfare should be a fiver at most. I ‘ll buy no “full game” samey-old-samey Call of Duty because it’s really just a new map pack of last year’s “game”, and so on.

The best joke says “Call of Duty Classic, was €15, now €12”. For an ancient game nobody cares about. Please Activision, go home.

marcoballistic 16 July, 2014 @ 1:45 pm   43

Oooookay, listen very carefully whoever is setting the recent sales. Last week I observed that the sales recently have gone from very good massive discounts, to laughable hardly any discount on already over priced games on the store. NOW HERE ISTHE IMPROTANT BIT.

I am one of the few people late to the call of duty party as it were, and it happens I decided to purchase near enough all of them from ebay a couple of weeks ago. So for the grand total of only £24, I got near perfect condition copies of World at War, MW2, Black Ops 1 & 2 and Ghosts, yes even ghosts. If I did that in this sale, I would have to outlay a heart bursting £85 and that is still without World at War…. SORRY BUT THIS IS A VERY VERY BAD JOKE, NOT A SALE. CRAZY!!!

THUNDERCAT1973 16 July, 2014 @ 1:46 pm   44

Sony you should be ashamed of yourself putting this up. as i said its more activisions fault. but you should still be ashamed

What a load of old Cod!

plisken1979 16 July, 2014 @ 1:49 pm   46

another Call of Duty Sale? Really? the series is so repetitive I never bought Ghosts and as for the discounts I certainly wouldn’t consider this a sale at all. you guys really do need to listen to your customer base, if your gonna keep giving us the same sales all the time i’d say expect a drop in revenue.

Seems like they forgot to post the Sale. Hopefully Ghost isnt the deal of the week also.

I hope you dummies realise it’s Activision that set this pricing, not SCEE, hence why they are always overpriced during the Steam sales as well. CoD, any version, never seems to go below £19.99 in the Steam sale as well.

Sony are the vendor, the prices are set by the Publisher.

You remember those GH Hero songs that shouldve been 50% discounted according to the publisher? Its not always the publisher who decides the prices on PSN.

    Scuffy_P 16 July, 2014 @ 3:17 pm

The publishers need Sony more than Sony need the publisher. The Store is a simple marketing tool for Sony. The revenue they receive won’t be that great, however the immediate access and convenience for the player is worth a lot more to Sony. So much so, that they have allowed the PSN brand to become so damaged, so mocked, that I doubt Sony will ever be able to save any credibility in the digital market.

Sony should have made guidelines and rules for digital pricing from the outset. But during the early days of PSN, Sony were so desperate to gain traction over Microsoft, they allowed the publishers to set their own prices and make up their own rules, which Sony are now paying for.

The PSN Store is a joke, an any moron that uses their digital service to buy full priced retail is perpetuating the issue. The Store is going to get worse over time, not better, because it’s run by EA, Ubisoft, and Activision…not Sony.

BulbOut27 16 July, 2014 @ 1:52 pm   49

I strongly dislike Call of Duty, and even if I did like it I would never buy any of them at those prices.

    AlucardTepes_DE 16 July, 2014 @ 10:11 pm

Sadly this cost us Japanese games releases on the west, when all they do is fill ppl’s head/acc’s with FPS games…
Pretty sure we wont even get a tps game like Bullet Girls thats a shooter… (not that I like shooters that much)
