I already have Kickbeat on Vita, and it is kickin’ fun!

What is different in this PS4 ‘Special Edition’? Will there be a cross-buy feature, or at least an upgrade-offer?

That’s what I wanna know. I don’t want to shell out again.

There are some new songs in this “Special Edition”. But what’s more important is what ISN’T in this version: The music analyzer. So you can’t play around with your own music collection – you’re limited to the songs that are already in the game. I would heavily recommend you stick to your PS3/Vita version, where you can use pretty much any song you want.

@PrettyMuchEveryone-EspeciallySony

SO MANY people still claim that MP3 support isn’t an important feature for the PS4… But the lack of MP3 support has devalued this “Special Edition” of KickBeat so much that I’m actually recommending that people buy/stick with the PS3/Vita version instead. DO YOU PEOPLE NOW SEE WHY THE LACK OF MP3 SUPPORT ON THE PS4 IS A PROBLEM?! A very similar problem will arise when WWE2K15 launches next month, and you won’t be able to use custom theme songs for the wrestlers. And I’m sure a lot of other games will suffer from the lack of MP3 support as well. SO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

Sorry for the all...

Sorry for the all-caps, but it’s very annoying to see one of my favorite games to play on Vita (KickBeat) get a special edition that’s not even as good as the regular edition because of the PS4’s lack of MP3 support. I was probably also going to pick up WWE 2K15 in the near future, but without custom themes, it’s just not the same… So I might end up not buying it at all, because of that.

The lack of MP3 support is hurting gaming on the PS4 way more than the lack of alternative themes on the PS4 menu. Get your priorities straight Sony!

Unfortunately no cross buy entitlement for this one since it is a different version. The Special Edition includes the enV tracks that the original did not, and will be 1080p @ 60fps.

Then it’s a no from me i’m afraid. A few unknown tracks, improved resolution and framerate doesn’t warrant me buying it again.

Flower had the 1080p and 60fps “feature” too but was still Cross Buy. Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition had a lot more extras and still had a €3.99 upgrade offer on PS4 if you owned the original. 6 new songs don’t really justify paying full price again :/

Im never playing this game again, I had it on my PS3 & Vita and was hoping to play my tunes in the game. To find out I needed to complete the game first before I can play my music. I thought fair enough and played all the way to the last boss and cant do it no matter how well I try.

Not to make out this game is bad, I had a great experience and was hoping to play my own music for replay ability, but it seems I am forever locked out of that option due to me not being able to defeat the final boss

i think there might be song support as you can use share factory to change background music from the usb.
this might as well be like that

Love this game, so addictive!! I’ll buy it again for sure, the improvements are very welcome. Btw, any chance of a sequel? :)

Less features that the PS Vita original, higher price. How does that work exactly?

I suppose the lack of the “play with your own music” feature as in the Vita means we can look forward to a raft of over priced track packs as well?

Ah, Zen Studios

An employee of that company (NeoGAF member Open Source, don’t know if it is that Bobby bloke up here who posted the article) was actually PRO Xbone DRM — always online, Kinect required and no second hand games.

He got blasted to the sun on NeoGAF by one of the best posts ever made: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?p=59545309#post59545309 Even a moderator told him he was wrong! XD

That was in May 2013. In September 2013, Kickbeat was released on PSN; Crossbuy for PS3/Vita + a demo. Check the ratings on the PS3 page if you want some laughs; 25 votes. XD

And last I checked, there are no second hand digital games! How’s that for karma?

So glad that the industry does not have that BS DRM policy. People would be stuck forever with their copies of Killzone; a title that hogs all the second-hand shelves in my city’s game stores.

Just wanted to inform you folks before you decide to give them money.

Well, turns out I was right about used games. Or haven’t you noticed the complaints about there not being enough games being made? Well, why’s that? Exactly as I said would happen, investment went into platforms where used games are not a factor, and now we get f2p mobile crapware instead of a rich, diverse tableau of new IPs, mid-tier games, etc. on the console retail market. Consoles are now, more than ever, niche platforms serving up derivative sequel after sequel. But at least you have your $5 savings on used games. Happy?

Also, I don’t work at Zen, and Bobby is not a bloke.

Ouch.

Another American barging in here with ignorant statements, you guys spread faster than Ebola.

So no Cross Buy & not even an upgrade option?

What happened Zen Studios?

You used to be the kings of Cross Buy.

Sad.

Disapointed no cross buy, didn’t the pc version get these tracks free? Was hoping theyd be patched into vita version. May have considered an upgrade fee but will not be paying full price again. Wonder if it will end up on plus.

Why did they make this game?

The fact the “Special Edition” removes the absolutely best part of the original version is stunning. I feel kind of bad for you, I really liked Kickbeat but there’s no way I’d pay for a severely diminished version of it.
