Futuridium EP Deluxe launches today on PS4 and PS Vita

So Futuridium EP Deluxe is coming out today on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, and there’s no better time to give you some extra information about the game and MixedBag!

1. Futuridium is made by two guys

MixedBag is a really small studio, so small in fact that it fits in a single room with space to spare! Working full time at MixedBag is me – Mauro – doing game design, level design and all the programming; and Andrea Gellato, doing the game design and all the graphics you see on screen in our games.

Futuridium is our first console game and being able to launch it on PS4 during its first year on the market and on PS Vita simply blows our minds. We’re so happy about it and we really hope you’ll enjoy our game as much as we enjoyed making it.

2. Futuridium is tough!

Don’t expect a walk in the park: we want to challenge you, but at the same time we want the game to be enjoyable for everyone. That’s why we designed the brand new Deluxe campaign with a gentler difficulty curve, with the ability to start from the final zone reached, unlockable continues and extra game modes. Just by playing and destroying cubes you can get extra credits, so you can just progress further and further in the game, while learning how to play better.

There are no extra power-ups in Futuridium; it’s just you, your lasers and your skills. And trust us, getting all 150 medals, finding all the hidden NegaCubes and getting all the trophies in the game is an incredibly difficult task.

3. Do a barrel roll?

No you can’t, because you can do something way cooler in Futuridium! You can turn your ship 180 degrees on the spot at the press of a button, instantly changing direction. It’s one of the main mechanics in the game; we love it, and I think you’ll love it too…

4. Tips!

•  The first levels are easier: practice your flying skills, get used to your 180° move, and try to find the best path that can lead you to a flawless perfect chain.
•  The score multiplier will reset if you die. So don’t do that!
•  Remember: enemies can be destroyed. Try to do that during a chain to multiply their value.
•  You can also destroy the White PowerCube during a chain, which will grant you an ever higher score!
•  Try to have fun, and don’t give up!

5. We’re making another game!

Futuridium is actually our second project, even though it launches first. Yes, it bends our minds too, but we worked on Futuridium while working on our biggest game – Metroidvania-style adventure forma.8. It’s coming to PS4 and PS Vita as soon as it’s ready. Enjoy the teaser trailer below!
