First major Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition update detailed

There’s a dungeon-load of new content coming soon to Blizzard’s action RPG

The first major content update for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition is just around the corner! We’re so excited to deliver patch 2.1.0 to the PlayStation 4 and can’t wait for you to venture into The Vault, explore the murky corners of The Cesspools, level up your Legendary Gems, and find out just how far you can push your hero in Greater Rifts.
So, what’s new and improved in patch 2.1.0? Let’s take a look!

The “What’s New” screen

A “What’s New” screen will now appear whenever a player logs into the game (and presses “Start” at the Main Menu) after a new patch has been installed. As the name suggests, this screen will provide a quick overview of new features included in the patch.

The Vault

Whenever Treasure Goblins are defeated, there’s now a chance they will spawn a new type of portal through which players can enter. Inside this mysterious new realm known as “The Vault,” mighty treasures await…along with Sanctuary’s newest boss: the Baroness Greed.

For more information about The Vault, click here.

Please note that portals to The Vault can only be accessed in Adventure Mode, and that they will not appear inside Nephalem Rifts or Greater Rifts.

The Cesspools

When adventuring in Nephalem Rifts and Greater Rifts, players will have a chance to encounter a new randomised environment: The Cesspools. Originally designed as the sewers of Westmarch, this festering, dank underworld is now ready to explore and plunder!

Greater Rifts

Greater Rifts are a special type of timed Nephalem Rift. There are an infinite number of Greater Rift levels, and each level will be progressively more difficult than the last. Upon completing a Greater Rift, players will be able to choose between one of two rewards: a chance to upgrade their Legendary Gems or (if they complete the Greater Rift level within its allotted time) the opportunity to move on to the next Greater Rift level. Players can continue progressing through Greater Rift levels so along as they complete the current Rift level before its timer expires.

Please note that Greater Rifts can only be accessed in Adventure Mode.

Ramaladni’s Gift

Ramalandni’s Gift is a new Legendary item that will allow players to add a socket to any weapon that does not already have one. This item can drop randomly in the game world and will be consumed on use.

Legendary Gems

Legendary Gems are a new type of gem that can drop in Greater Rifts and The Vault and will offer powerful abilities when socketed into Rings and Amulets. Players will have the opportunity to upgrade their Legendary Gems over time by completing Greater Rifts.

Does the update include a price drop to the diabolical £60 digital price tag?

Sorry but Diablo is one of those few games worth that price tag.

i wouldnt normally complain but that price is ridiculous. it can be purchased for £30 or less (digitally) on every other platform (exculding PS4/Xbox One). why charge double the price for the same game

Well because the platforms are new. They could sure go the Metro Redux route and charge less but again it is worth every penny. PS4 and Xbone versions have few enchantments over the other platforms as well. Don’t get me wrong I wish all games were cheaper 🙂

@iky_g, I usually would agree with you, but to be honest it’s not the same “experience”. Today, the price of the pc “vanilla” version + Reaper of Souls is closer to £60 than £30, and the PS3/360 versions just don’t get the last updates, so it’s not the same “game” in the end. Anyway, i doubt there will be a price drop.

However you can always buy it at retailers for a reduced price. I bought mine for 40 € on the day of release at a local store.

Same here, got it for less than £40 and I think that’s quite fair with the DLC and updates included. It is a huge game and runs flawlessly.

i have diablo on both consoles buth digital on ps4 = no go
if them release new games ath 59€ = bigger posibelity – if price lower then real store = very big posibelity .

but after fuly reboot mi ps4 some time ago ( around drm isue )
i have made mi mind = only litel games ( not to big dowloads ) = tru psn
al others real store = 10 lesser + disk in you hands .( reinstall faster from disk )

When? When? When? CANT WAIT!

Nice.

It would be nice if you could add a background image and music to the overview screen on PS4 though. If the majority of indie developers with limited resources can stretch to doing so, I’m sure you guys at Blizzard can too.

Just give us the exact date T________T
We’ve been waiting for this…

US already dropped the patch today.

When will this expansion be available to all those who have D3 on the PS3 already?!

    Bovrillor 8 October, 2014 @ 4:00 pm

If you mean “Will RoS be available as an expansion to regular D3 on PS3”, then the answer is no.

If you mean “Will the 2.1.0 update be coming to PS3 RoS, the answer is also no”. Last-gen gets no further support.

Heads up: It’s online now.

🙂 Thanks for letting us know. Was already downloading for me anyway lol. Was expecting to have to wait until the store update tomorrow, so it was a nice surprise.

why does sony never talks about their new policy like the one i had to accept today , from my ps4, because it wasnt able to connect to psn to predownload driveclub, some nive stuff to learn, like the fact that now , previous owned games via PS+ if u quit the ps + program for let’s say 2 month, you wont be able to download all previous owned game via the program , nice touch, instead of restricting players rights , and habing a pitiful after sale service, you should do like Ms add a plex application to the ps4 , a youtube app, DLNA ect.. ect… NO MAJOR UPDATE for PS4 in this first year.. when u compared to the main competitor… like on the ps3 era, you realize, that it has been always like this since the xbox 360 / PS3 release… seeing plex available freely on 360 and xbox One… you must fo something instead of restrciting our customer rights over digital content rent or purchased.

big companies being shady isnt really a new thing lol
just play games and be happy

Woohoo! My favourite PS4 game is now even better! Thank you, Blizzard. 😀

I have not had a new ToS to agree too but if that is the case that is definitely not cool. Your other points are spot on as well. We can use Youtube (minus uploading directly to) on PS4 and we can use Plex on PS4, both only through the browser though which makes it a bit of a hassle instead of a native app. Let’s go Sony, 10million strong and counting, let’s get some updates going with some actual substance and not just stability updates.

Woops, just realized this is the EU Blog. Sorry I will see my american butt outta here lol.

the console version is full of hackers
the item duplicating bug, the modified ps3/360 saves being transferred to ps4/xb1 version, one-shot kills of bosses in rifts etc etc etc

There are players, who still play ina totally legit way, but I guess if you don’t have them on your list then they are hard to be found, right?

As for the patch, that is great that the next gen version got patched, and since I can’t afford a PS4, I hope that someone from Blizzard gives me one as a gift, since they were so eager to patch the PS4 version.

    Bovrillor 8 October, 2014 @ 4:02 pm

I’m playing RoS legit on PS4. If any other like-minded players want to add me, please do 🙂

Just remember to include some text in your friend request or I’ll assume spam and delete it!

loving the game so far only got the game last week managed to pick it up for only £28 new 🙂

Boo-urns on the stoppage of future updates for PS3. I guess that why it was so cheap at retail.

As long as this doesn’t affect gameplay and connection on PSN for fighting, this isn’t too much of an issue, but still. Boooooooooooooo.

No PS3 support? What a slap in the face to your PS3 supporters
