Hugh Laurie and Nolan North join LittleBigPlanet 3’s all-star voice cast!

The incomparable actor/comedian reunites with old pal Stephen Fry in forthcoming sequel

LittleBigPlanet 3 is going to be the biggest, most awesomest, most amazingest adventure yet! So we’re proud to announce today that as a LittleBigPlanet first, our entire adventure will be fully voice acted!

Long-time fans will already be well-accustomed to Stephen Fry’s dulcet tones as LittleBigPlanet’s ever-warm and loving Narrator, but evil is afoot for our otherwise pleasant world and the nefarious Newton is here to cause all kinds of trouble and mischief in this brand new adventure!

But just who would be the dream voice to contest against Mr. Fry?

Introducing Hugh Laurie as the voice of Newton!

That’s right! The mischievous Newton is being voiced by none other than Stephen Fry’s long-time comedic partner… Hugh Laurie!

We have naturally always been big fans of Stephen Fry, so when it came to deciding upon a voice to act as his dastardly counterpart, we couldn’t help but think that bringing Hugh Laurie on as the voice of Newton would be just the perfect double act for LittleBigPlanet 3. We couldn’t be happier to have him on-board!

More stars abound in LittleBigPlanet 3!

That’s not all though! Our brand new adventure is filled with all kinds of wonderful characters, new Creator Curators and more NPCs than ever before in a LittleBigPlanet title! So we needed a wonderful array of voices to help bring all these characters to life!

We don’t want to get all spoiler-y before you even have a chance to discover Sackboy’s newest story for yourself but we wanted to let you know that you will have the opportunity to listen out for the likes of top names Peter Serafinowicz (Shaun of the Dead), and Simon Greenall (Alan Partridge, Wimbledon), along with video game stalwarts such as Nolan North (UNCHARTED series, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor) and Tara Strong (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, The Fairly OddParents)!

Returning voices!

Last but by no means least; we have one final tease for you…

We have some additional voices returning from a previous LittleBigPlanet adventure that will be making a very welcome return when they reunite with Sackboy in his latest escapade!

Mum’s the word for now though! We’re already saying too much! Maybe, just maybe, one of your favourite characters will be making a return though!

You can meet up with these returning voices; along with Stephen Fry, Hugh Laurie and the rest of our amazing cast when LittleBigPlanet 3 releases in November!

We’re so excited to bring you Sackboy’s biggest adventure yet later this year and we can’t wait to hear what you think of everybody that he and his new friends meet!

Did you enjoy this?

Happy to hear that you like the sound of our voice cast! (No pun intended…)

Surprised Troy Baker & Steve Blum aren’t in this lol

Hugh Laurie is awesome!

    Steven Isbell 7 October, 2014 @ 5:52 pm

He sure is and we’ve been dying to team him up with Stephen Fry for a long time!

andrewsqual 7 October, 2014 @ 1:09 pm   4

And Laura Bailey? The female equivalent of Nolan North, Troy Baker and Steve Blum. 🙂
Oh, get Rowan Atkinson too. 😀

andrewsqual 7 October, 2014 @ 1:12 pm   5

Tara Strong is epic too. I hope she plays a shouty character like Bubbles (when she gets mad) or Toot from Drawn Together.

How can you mention Tara without mentioning Harley Quinn ? 😀
She and Claudia Black are my favorite voice actress.

    supersmith2500 7 October, 2014 @ 2:45 pm

Yup, I love Tara Strong too since she did a great job with Bubbles from the Powerpuff Girls. She’s a great voice actor, don’t forget she also voiced Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw and Paz from MGS: Peace Walker.

    Steven Isbell 7 October, 2014 @ 5:45 pm

She was definitely awesome as Harley Quinn.

Problem is that if we listed every awesome character that she has voiced, we wouldn’t have any room left in the article to mention the rest of the cast!

Personally, not a huge fan of Tara’s Harley. Arleen Sorkin is so much better.

Powerpuff Girls…My big sisters favorite since she was a kid 🙂

Omg! Newtons look have been CHANGED since the announcement! Still looking forward to this GAME! 🙂 😀

Great addition! Hugh Laurie started as the ever optimistic Prince George, then moved to the Byron antihero House and now he is a full blown villain. Simply awesome. The only thing left to say is:

Please, Mr Music, will you play?

PIREDERAS 7 October, 2014 @ 2:06 pm   8

It’s awesome to have voice actors such as Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie in the same game! Can we expect to see Tony Robinson and Rowan Atkinson joining in the crew in LBP4 and reunite the Blackadders? That would be tremendous fun! 😛

Great news!
I loved Stephans voice in the tutorial but disliked the fantasy babble of the in game characters.
When making out own games van we also use snippets of their voices?

    Steven Isbell 7 October, 2014 @ 5:50 pm

We do have our classic character gibberish returning in LittleBigPlanet 3 but that’s just for your own creations, our main story is fully voice-acted for the very first time!

We don’t have any particular voice snippets in the game at the moment but I totally get where you’re coming from though, could you elaborate on just what kinds of snippets would be useful for you to have in future? Will make sure to pass on your feedback to our audio team. 🙂

Peter Serafinowicz,praise the sun!

raga2502 7 October, 2014 @ 3:17 pm   11

Don’t use present tense when the employment clearly happened in the past!

vinster81 7 October, 2014 @ 4:40 pm   12

A Bit of Fry and Laurie!!!!

Spyroluver88 7 October, 2014 @ 4:57 pm   13

You had me at Nolan North! But Troy would be a bonus. Too bad their respective SackBoys can’t use their voices.

saad-07- 7 October, 2014 @ 5:02 pm   14

He doesn’t sound evil at all change him

Too bad I have to change the language in the system settings when I want to hear the original voices in many Sony games like LBP. Please make the language choice one of the options!

RedHotSackboy 7 October, 2014 @ 6:39 pm   16

This turning out like the most cinematic LBP to date!

RyanSufc1997 7 October, 2014 @ 7:39 pm   17

My only wish granted; fully voiced story!!! Thank you so much, preorder imminent! (was still gonna pre order anyways, but you encouraged it with such great news!)

Will we still get the garble to use in the creator? Also can we record our own voice for use in the creator? Thanks!

    RyanSufc1997 7 October, 2014 @ 7:41 pm

Okay I got an answered question a few comments up, so I thought of a new one; can you send me a copy of the game right now to play please? Thanks haha

Change it to “Out walking the sock, I see” instead of Dog

Nice, but I downloaded LBP2 and it only had the Dutch voiceover, which sucked so bad. Stephen Fry has done a great job with his voice acting, but there was no option to change te language settings. It pretty much ruined the game for me.

ryannumber3gamer 8 October, 2014 @ 12:12 am   20

Nice, It’s always a pleasure to hear Nolan North,

(Now please give us a Blackadder level and costume pack)

SatoshiOokami 8 October, 2014 @ 12:04 pm   21

Wow, never expected House in LBP 😀

AlexAtkinUK 8 October, 2014 @ 2:32 pm   22

I wasn’t going to get this game as I was hoping for a next-gen only LBP3 so that creators could take advantage of all that extra RAM. However, the last few months have me convinced I must get it now, this news solidifies that decision.

I think one of the things that always made the single-player experience in LBP a bit tiresome was the lack of voice acting as I never could be bothered to progress very far in single player. There was also the controls, which were clunky at first but seem to have gotten more and more responsive with each iteration.

I guess there is one net benefit of being a PS3 game, it should ensure the frame rate on this game is silky-smooth on PS4. Although there still seems to be some confusion as to if its going to be 30fps or 60fps.

All we need now is rowan atkinson and we get sackadder will be getting this
