The new PS4 TV spot makes its debut – watch it here

Get a first look at the new ad before it arrives on screens

Hi everyone. Today we are very excited to share with you our new TV ad for PS4. You can check it out above.

On PS4 you can connect with the biggest next-generation community of players around the world and in the TV ad we see two gamers running through their options of how to call in support: either via the PlayStation App, checking out YouTube, or using Share Play to call in a friend for reinforcements.

We hope you like it!

Sadly we won’t be able to take the advantage of this service in the Middle East countries ,, because we dont have even one single server for sony in the region..
and I think the same thing will happen when PlaystationNow begins :(

1.1

you don’t need servers..
connection is between the host and guest
Unlike PS Now, which does require servers.

Dude are you talking about share play? cuz if you are, then its obvious that you didn’t even give it a try. I’v been share playing with my friend on tower fall and splunky, will its either that or I’v been playing with my imaginary friend in witch case he kicked my ass at tower fall. P.S. I’m really impressed of how well the service works, great job Playstation.

DarKest_Dragon dude I’ve tried this serves “SharePlay” with more than one friends , none of them worked well except one that has a 2 to 3 MB upload speed and he connected his phone to get this high upload speed as the fact that the DSL speeds on the “uploads” side is really bad , and all the people in Saudi Arabia share same my opinion on their speeds with the local telecom companies , you know .. STC & Mobily ,

I wish Sony will do something about this to improv it somehow :( before Microsoft build there servers on the region ..

Where can I get this Viking game?

2.1

Dude! You *are* a Viking.

I’m a Viking! Brb, while I go pillage my neighbour’s house, and kidnap their maidens…. Nah, joking, I know how to distinguish games from reality. There are no maidens in this day and age. Pillaging only it is.

You missed option four give the devs the ability to block shareplay and make the feature useless.

lol, great ad!

Kinda cheap looking, shame, PlayStation adverts used to be so trippy and clever.

Just a shame SharePlay doesn’t actually work.

The game is either blocked, or not working in my region.

It does work, don’t spread lies. There are some games which are locked due to country laws and publisher needs. But most of the games work fine and its >80% as far as know. Check this link for compatibility of some games tested: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-11-06-not-all-games-are-on-board-with-ps4-share-play

6.2

Almost every game works.

Great ad, well done.

This was funny but check out the Japanese Share Play ad, incredible!

I have question… at 0:23 you can see a guy with a tablet… why didn’t you use that 1-2 seconds to show Vita? You know it also can view youtube videos… you know that right? Advertise Vita a bit! PS4 is winning war with Xbox One it doesn’t really need any more push. Whatever you will do it will do better than Xbox.

Now Vita isn’t doing that well… mainly beause of you guys! Lack of advertising is problem! Or did you decide already to forsake Vita? Lost generation? Whatever… mind my words: If Vita will fail, than you won’t be able to compete with Nintendo EVER AGAIN.

As it is now, I would have to be madman to buy next handheld from SONY camp :/ I mean why and what for? You will again drop support year after release.

8.1

The problem with that is that it could create the impression that Vita is required for such functions, which it isn’t. Tablet is a more common product in people’s homes, so it makes sense for them to do this.

General TV audience will identify with a tablet, not with a Vita.

8.2

General TV audience who understand PlayStation will question why there isn’t a Vita.

8.3

that’s not “General TV audience”, that’s gamers. The people that already know about the Vita anyway..

*PS4 is fastest selling console ever*

Sony: You know what PS4 needs? More advertising!

Everyone at board meeting: I agree!

Vita Rep: Y-you know… we could use some of that a-advertising money and get p-people interested in Vita…

Sony: Who let you in here? And what the heck is a “Vita”?

All I could think of while watching this ad was: why no game footage was used in it? It makes no sense…

11.1

dude you’re wrong, i think it’s from the new harvest moon and this footage is a secret footage…

Better add a disclaimer to that advert explaining that developers can, and the majority are, blocking the SharePlay feature. That sort of thing will meet you a class action in the US and you know how much they love a law suit.

12.1

Sony also falsely advertise Playstation TV being able to play Vita games on big screen. Only some of the Vita games are PS TV compatible and none of the bigger titles aren’t.

Murton, it’s not for America but eu.playstation.com/shareplay don’t say that developers can opt out of the service, they should probably write that.
Houno you can find the compatible games here http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2014/09/22/playstation-tv-release-date-price-full-list-compatible-games-2/ . Freedom Wars one of the big Vita games is compatible.

This is an advert for ps4 , it’s selling well, why would you not keep advestising , it wouldn’t make sense to stop, also as for the vita, it is a great product but is not gonna make more than the ps4, I rarely talk to any one buyin gifts for family members that want a handheld console, it is a small market , no matter how good the vita is , no amount of money will put it top of a market, it’s a consistent seller that ticks over, we’re in a changing environment that they need to spend wisely, and that’s on the ps4

Nobody’s is asking for or expecting Vita to be “on top”. People are asking for the bare minimum of advertising for PS Vita, since it has been left in the lurch by Sony since its conception.

13.2

Yeah but those people are not the general people , they are the owners, I don’t think I rememebr many psp adverts during it’s heyday, sony rarely seems to spend money on advestising in this part of the world, mircosoft throw there money at that, sure they could do better, every company could but just seems crazy that every detail is fine picked by people on the blog, surely sony can do no right by these people, in which case why buy or continue to have Sony products …unless people treat there games manufacture like a marriage

14

Funny and awesome advert can’t wait for the next 1

15

Meh. Started out cool and potentially epic but got silly and “marketing’ish”. I prefer the ads that were just cool to watch (abstract David Lynch, CG,..) or genuinely funny (anything Kevin Butler) :p

Meanwhile nobody knows what a Vita is.

Might be worth adding another disclaimer to that video. All services dependent upon a network we will switch off for maintenance without any warning whatsoever during peak hours and on weekends.

Seriously, the last two months have been a joke with NP error messages, being kicked from online games and party chat. Please take the money of the millions of PS+ sub’s and do any of the following:

1: invest it in a feature for the next firmware update that gives us something on the XMB that tells us when maintenance will occur. Then I don’t need to mess about checking the status page which claims that PSN is fine, the maintenance page which claims there’s no maintence for the rest of this year or the twitter account which is currently telling everyone to reboot their routers even though the error message they’re reporting specifically states that PSN is down for maintenance.

2: finally switch to a clustered network so that services can remain online when maintenance is done. No other major...

2: finally switch to a clustered network so that services can remain online when maintenance is done. No other major gaming network goes completely dark so someone can play with some screwdrivers.

3: pay some overtime to the network techs so they can take it off during the Americans peak hours for a change rather than ours.

4: give it back, or rather some of it. The sub now cover online play on PS4, online play which is consistently disrupted by announced maintenance. Seems only right that if you can’t keep the network running during peak hours and weekends that you credit our PSN accounts to make up for the loss.

I used to work in telecoms so I’ve seen some really bad networking infrastructure in my time (Milton Keynes phone and CATV networks in particular) but the PSN is really falling apart at the moment, its so bad it makes BT look reliable and they infamously had 7 nationwide outages in August alone.

al 1- to 3 = jep
4= i can not speak
buth i also see in mi contry + lots of others psn = breaking down like hel .

1-3 need to be 1-2-4 not 3

All I could think of while watching this is that it looks like a cheap Simon Pegg knock-off. Meanwhile, the Japanese advert blew me away with how good it was, and I couldn’t even understand anything written on screen.

English ad – some guy with a mobile phone films an amateur stand-up routine from actors who failed the audition for Shaun of the Dead, while the local LARP society runs around in the background. Zero PlayStation games are shown, and you don’t even see the Share Play feature working.

Japanese ad – corporate suit by day, escapes from her boring life by first using Share Play to play co-op with a friend, then uses another Share feature to find out she likes another game in his collection, gets it herself and becomes a gaming goddess by night, using Share Play again to upload her exploits to become insanely popular online throughout the world. Funny how I managed to glean all that from it when I didn’t understand a word, it was put together so well.

Compared to the Japanese ad, the English one looks positively shoddy. You paid money for this … on purpose?

18.1

I just watched it since it seems to be popular but really don’t get it.. I think I even liked ours better.. All I saw was a whole lot of social media and Destiny footage.. Since when is gaming all about having the most online friends and being popular :s Oh Facebook, you have ruined not only this generation, but part of my favorite hobby as well :(

All I want is one Vita advert on TV this holiday season, and not the one that just shows a bunch of kids games. A proper one showing big games like Freedom Wars.

Shame the advert doesn’t show off the wonderful speed and stability of PSN, games crashing, and picture someone waiting 2 minutes to open a message. The power of PS4.

jep them need ful focus on new faster mesage system between 2 min to 30 min to some peopel
i goth +-2/3 min .
mesage system in game biger smaler option so like a smal balk buth wen we clik on touch pad it opens to larger window ( ps. left site notifications are to big ons screen ( option between smal -med – large please )
also option in libaery to errase alpa – beta
changing ps4 advatars ( al buy on ps3 also on ps4 = option to switch to other advatars on ps4)
option status = only downloading -ofline gaming -online gaming – film watching – not want to be disturbt .

Still trying to get my head around why Sony always seem to create problems where none existed before and then when they ‘fix’ that problem they create another one that didn’t exist before either!? I speak of the recent firmware update of course i.e. they have ‘fixed’ the problem with the PS4 not restarting when put in rest mode, however it has now caused a different problem in that the controllers can no longer be charged when in standby, at least mine doesn’t work any more. Anyone else noticed the same issue and can someone pass this on to Sony please? I’ve been trying for months, nay years, to try and find contact details for Sony for such issues but it’s like finding a needle in a stack of needles! They obviously don’t want consumers getting in contact with them at all except through Facebook and Twitter which I don’t use. Thanks.
