New on PlayStation Store: Game of Thrones, Teslagrad, PS Plus update, more

Plus, Tales of Borderlands, The Crew and loads of new discounts

First up this week, Telltale Games is at it once more with its brand of intricate story-driven games. This time it’s Game of Thrones, featuring more fantastical political jibber-jabber than you can shake a stick, with that trademark TTG touch.

Telltale also releases Tales from the Borderlands. Set on the unforgiving world of Pandora after the events seen in Borderlands 2, this is a story full of Borderlands’ trademark humour, following two adventurers on their quest for greatness.

Ubisoft brings another open world game to the fray, but this time less of the humanoid action and more of the fast, sleek car skidding around dangerously action. The Crew offers boy racers a recreation of the US with tons of challenges to undertake.

Chris has also revealed a bunch of special offers celebrating the 20th Anniversary of PlayStation . Reminisce with some magical titles from across the ages.

Finally, as a reminder, our ’12 Deals of Christmas’ deals are also underway, so make sure you check back regularly to snap up new discounts.

Oh no! There are some horrible errors on the Store!

Somehow the PS3 and PS4 versions of Geometry Wars are different prices in the UK even though they’re the same price in every other region.

Also, this week’s TellTale games are both inexpliably more expensive on PS4 than PS3 despite the PS4 being so much easier to code for and (again) them being the SAME PRICE in the US. Also, the price difference between the US and EU is clearly wrong!

I hope everyone will BOYCOTT these items until the retailers/publishers discount them at some point in the future.

Also, looking at the Euro-prices Game of Thrones will be cheaper buying 5 separate episodes at 5.99 each than paying 29.99 for the season.

I may buy the telltale games from the U.S. store at some point but not way I’m paying those over inflated E.U prices

You can boycott them, while others enjoy them.

Elocan Game Of Thrones is six episodes long I believe so it’s cheaper to buy the season pass.

    TheDaftTool 3 December, 2014 @ 2:47 pm

@Elocan Game of Thrones is a 6 episode season

    QuietlyWrong 3 December, 2014 @ 3:10 pm

Anyone who’s willing to pay inflated prices just makes it worse for the rest of us by ensuring the publishers continue to ask for inflated prices.

    AliSiirappi 3 December, 2014 @ 3:28 pm

What is going on with Scee digital pricing? Digital games are constantly overpriced here compared to Xbox for example. Both GoT and Tales of Borderlands are 4.99 euros per episode on Xbox One. So I guess I will start getting my games on Xbox instead.

    ThaBEN_NL 4 December, 2014 @ 9:53 am

I just realize that the dollar prices shown on this page are not the dollar prices gamers in the USA need to pay. Instead these are the dollar prices if you’re living in EU and decide to pay in dollars at the EU store.

    3 Examples:

    Alien Isolation: Trauma (DLC)
    EU price: £5.79/€6.99/$10.45
    USA price: $7.99

Tales from the Borderlands – Season Pass
    EU price: £18.99/€23.99/$35.95
    USA price: $19.99

Game of Thrones: Season 1 – Season Pass
    EU price: £24.99/€29.99/$44.95
    USA price: $24.99

    QuietlyWrong 4 December, 2014 @ 12:32 pm

The ‘dollar’ prices on this page are for Australian Dollars.

At the moment there are roughly 1.2 Aussie dollars to the US dollar.

So, say for example USD $24.99 is equivalent to AUSD $29.99

    QuietlyWrong 6 December, 2014 @ 11:20 am

Ladies and Gentlemen! The PS4 prices for Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands are now the same as the PS3 prices.

Thank you for your support! 😀

Final Horizon PS4 have price

Gray-Fox47 3 December, 2014 @ 2:36 pm   3

I’m interested in downloading Inustice however I don’t believe the TE-Sticks from Madcatz are supported yet are they?
So my question is there going to be support for the fighting sticks?
The sticks are pretty expensive and it would be a real good service to support them.

    Jawad Ashraf 3 December, 2014 @ 2:57 pm

Unfortunately I’m not aware on the compatibility or further announcements around this just yet. I am just as eager to know, being a fighting game enthusiast myself 🙂

    PiccoroDaimaoh 3 December, 2014 @ 3:33 pm

Lab Zero Games, the developers of Skullgirls, are developing a driver that will allow the PS3 sticks to work on PS4. It is just for Skullgirls PS4, though.

    Gray-Fox47 3 December, 2014 @ 3:45 pm

Well OK thank you both for the reply, however if they are able to create a patch for Skullgirls then it should be possible all across the board right?
Anyway I realize you’re a busy person Jawad and people around here seem to want a piece of you for one thing or another but if you would be able to get an answer on this it would be much appreciated, if you can’t reach that for into corporate I understand.
Anyway I enjoy my PS4 and all but if the’re won’t be an update I might not switch over for fighting games for a while if all, since I’m actually starting to get less time for gaming in general and fighting games are quite the timesink.

    GevallenEngel 4 December, 2014 @ 11:34 am

A ps3 only TE won’t work with Injustice. There is a new version of the TE that is able to switch between ps4 and ps3, but I don’t think they are available in europe just yet.

The driver from the Skullgirls developer is great of course, but it’s on a game to game basis. The developer of a game has to include the driver in the game to make it work, so chances are Injustice will never have support for this.
The only option for now is to buy a ps4 compatible stick, or mod your current stick (but this is advanced stuff). Neither of those are going to be cheap.

I still can recommend Injustice though, it’s very playable without stick. I would just be better with one 😀

Lab Zero wrote the driver for skull girls but they have released it for free so any game dev can use it. Bloody well wish they would!!! I really want to buy a new Eightarc stick but the high chance of it being useless is holding me back :~(

Wow, where did Syberia come from all of a sudden? Awesome.

    KaneTheGoth 3 December, 2014 @ 3:02 pm

Agree! I believe Syberia 2 and Amerzone are on their way, too 🙂

Syberia 2 is indeed coming aswell. Just so strange to see this out of nowhere.

    KaneTheGoth 3 December, 2014 @ 3:12 pm

Antaois, this is a good site for some nice point & click gaming news 🙂 http://www.adventuregamers.com/

    KaneTheGoth: I know, thanks, I’m a semi-regular there on the forums. 🙂

Dear SCEE, in addition to certain prices being a tad iffy and Final Horizon not showing up in the IGC a while back, now the store is completely broken and I’m redirected to the US Store front. Sort this stuff out, guys. Nothing personal, but if I screwed stuff up on such a regular basis, I’d be out of a job.

DavoTheDiv 3 December, 2014 @ 2:37 pm   5

The Crew US PSN = $59.99, The Crew EU PSN = £59.99?

Merry Christmas to you too.

Yes, and The Crew on a number of online retailers £44.00. Why complain about prices that are too high anyway, and why buy new games on PSN at all?

    BaLRoG_ZA 3 December, 2014 @ 2:55 pm

Let’s start sending Kaz tweets about the way SCEE treat their customers.

    xiuyinghong 3 December, 2014 @ 5:40 pm

    Simple solution: don’t buy it.

Why the price difference for Game of Thrones between PS4 and PS3? Season Pass is an extra £5 on PS4 and an extra £1 per episode than the PS3. Season Pass on Xbox One or Xbox 360 is also cheaper than both at £15.99 on either of those consoles. In my excitement for the game I purchased the PS4 season pass earlier today, now I feel like I’ve been ripped off. I’m not one to usually post stuff like this, I love my PS4, but this pricing structure has surely got to be an error?

    Thunderlizzard 3 December, 2014 @ 3:35 pm

There are a number of differences between PS4 and X1 and PS4 is significantly more expensive:
    – £4.99 vs £3.99 for both Game of Thrones and Borderlands ep.1
    – £24.99 vs £15.99 for Game of Thrones Season Pass (seriously, WOW!)
    – £18.99 vs £11.99 for Borderlands Season Pass (WOW pt.2!)

Also, the price for The Crew above is wrong above, it’s actually £54.99 so at least that is in line with the Xbox price.

    necrosmash 3 December, 2014 @ 3:52 pm

I don’t think the season pass on Xbox 360 / Xbox one includes Episode 1, so that might account for part of the discrepancy.

It says that Episode 1 is sold separately at the bottom of this page: https://store.xbox.com/en-GB/Xbox-One/DLC/Game-of-Thrones-A-Telltale-Games-Series-Season-Pass/1ed90817-9f69-42bf-acbc-2dbd687025d0

I hadn’t noticed that episode 1 is sold separately, so that would make the cost of the whole season £19.98 on Xbox. That is still a mark up for the PS4 version of a fiver over the other console versions, which I still think is unfair. Digital games are often priced more highly than they should be (just look at the Crew for example) but there should at least be parity on price between platforms.

    Thunderlizzard 3 December, 2014 @ 6:15 pm

Good spot, I forgot the PSN versions include all episodes in the Season Pass.

I wish they’d call it Game of Thrones COMPLETE instead. Season Pass suggests add on content to the base game.

Also this method is poor as anyone buying ep.1 to try it out before committing can’t then upgrade to the Season Pass and take advantage of the discount.

… and even taking that into account they are still both more expensive than on X1.

Ouch at those Telltale PS4 prices too, US is $5 (£3.10) EU is £4.99 quite the mark up isn’t it?

wait what. Syberia is out?! Thats a buy without a doubt! Amazing!

Shadowdragoon 3 December, 2014 @ 2:41 pm   9

Hah, got it this time, just barly..

When are the following titles getting on the SEN store?
PSP:
Final Fantasy Crisis Core
Ghost in the Shell: Stand alone Complex
Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep (yes I know of 2.5 hd remake, but thats not playable on portable device is it? 😉 )
PoPoLoCrois
Tales of Eternia
Tales of the World Radiant Mythology
Thrillville
Valkyrie Profile Lenneth
PS1:
Xenogears
Suikoden II

Why I keep asking (for the PSP ones), I got most of these on UMD, but I do not want to have to drag the PSP whit me in adition to the Vita. And for those that do not get (portable ie, Vita) remakes, it would be sad that people would not get to play them in the future. I adition, soon these could be fun to play on PS TV device. You know that poor device will need all thee games it can get, just as tthe Vita.. Also added some games to the list by request.

Any new information on Cross Region Gifting.
Like steam have had for years.

I do mean gifts would have to be purchased as gift. (not transfearal of used). Kind of like how I can order a physical version from US and use it, I want o be able to buy a digital version (or DLC) on a american account and gift it to my main account as to not have to logg different acounts to manage my games.. Or to send gifts to a friend, or recive gifts from a friend.

Oh, and to anyone complaining about me reposting, if they (SCEE, Not other people) would just take time to reply, something like: We have brougt your suggestions to the correct people/departments. Id shut up (about the things in the post) for atleast a few months.

Man, I would love to see Suikoden as well. Never had the chance to play them when I was younger. Also, hallo fra stavanger :p

    You’re hopeless bud…

    Shadowdragoon 3 December, 2014 @ 3:02 pm

@Lance, No, I got hope, Hope they for once will do something.. 😉 As long as I keep hope, Ill keep posting..

    KaneTheGoth 3 December, 2014 @ 3:06 pm

You need to overhaul this post. You’ve posted it some many times that we, and no doubt the blog team, are more than aware of what it says and don’t bother reading it anymore.

Post blindness for us, and a waste of time for you; if you want your posts read at least take the time to rewrite them each time you post them.

    Yeah yeah whatever, Shadow…

The problem here is SCEE and the blog team have nothing to do with any of these games. They are not the owners of the IP or publishers of any of the games. The same post every week is literally a worthless waste of time, space and energy. Posting here will accomplish nothing.
Why not mail it to the actual publishers and IP owners who actually do have the power to get the games put on PSN, well some of them anyway. A lot are a lost cause.
I think Shadow knows this but it has just become habit to copy paste the same post every week for attention.
It’s the wrong place to post it. Period.

Why are the telltale Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands more expensive on PS4? So basically we’re punished for playing on current gen, whereas last gen players are rewarded.

    Thunderlizzard 3 December, 2014 @ 3:51 pm

Nope, they’re just expensive on PlayStation. Both of those games are cheaper on X1 than even the PS3 prices… PS3/PS4 vs X1…
    – £3.99/£4.99 vs £3.99 for both Game of Thrones and Borderlands ep.1
    – £19.99/£24.99 vs £15.99 for Game of Thrones Season Pass
    – £15.99/£18.99 vs £11.99 for Borderlands Season Pass

Something odd is going on here. I’m not a fan of the cross generation price hike but this takes the P even more.

Oh, and I’ve just checked the 360 versions are the same price as the X1.

    Thunderlizzard 3 December, 2014 @ 6:40 pm

As necrosmash pointed out above the Season Pass on PSN is actually the FULL game rather than an add-on so it includes ep.1.

That makes PS3/360/X1 the same with just the PS4 seeing the hike of £1 per episode.

Curse you, SCEE! Where is my Rocksmith 2014 DLCs?

Final Horizon for PS4 is not coming for the IGC, Jawad.

Also, what happened to the “Captain for the Watch” DLC for Shadow of Mordor on PS3? It was supposed to be released two weeks ago. I asked the support, and apparently, it was listed by mistake. What gives?

ziggy-mandias 3 December, 2014 @ 2:52 pm   13

So If i purchase the minecraft stuff on PSVita/PS3 will it transfer to PS4 as well for free like the original ones did?

    burntbreadman 3 December, 2014 @ 7:25 pm

Maybe but I wouldn’t trust anything to do withmine craft anymore

    Since Oct 15th
I’ve been chasing for my crossbuy retail/vita download to work
On hold and in calls for over 10hrs in total.
    Nothing to show for it.
    Customer service is non existent.

BaLRoG_ZA 3 December, 2014 @ 2:54 pm   14

Oh SCEE, you never fail to disappoint. The worst thing is that we are at a point that EXPECT you to screw up.

WHERE IS THE PS3 BON JOVI ROCKSMITH DLC!!!!

You just screw up every time with Rocksmith DLC.

If I ever get a PS4, I am registering a US account and buying everything from the US store.

You disappoint on so many levels. And no level of complaining seems to get you to up your game.

Maybe start taking your customer’s complaints seriously.

I really think it is time to engage Kaz Hirai on Twitter to bring this under his attention.

RichieS99 3 December, 2014 @ 2:56 pm   15

No deal of the week? I had hoped as I am not feeling Lords of the Fallen.

    KaneTheGoth 3 December, 2014 @ 3:53 pm

Deals of the week won’t be back until after the 12 Deals of Christmas have finished.

Tuulenpoika 3 December, 2014 @ 2:58 pm   16

Once again, question time.

1) So I finally got PlayStation TV, and noticed how all the PS1 Classics show in a letterbox mode on the screen. There’s no way to change the screen size like there was in PSP, how about making some sort of solution for this or at least make the picture fit to the screen without losing the aspect ratio?

2) Now that 2014 is coming to an end, and Freedom Wars has been out for some time, how about some news about Oreshika?

With Oreshika you will probably have to wait for PlayStation Experience.

I’m nearly sure that they will show it in order to “prove” that they didn’t abandon support to Vita. But than again… EU will be digital only.

Honestly I think Oreshika should be released in a lovely collectors or limited edition with a nice art book…even Senran Kagura came with a 140 page artbook. I’m guessing its gone all quiet on the Oreshika front as people in Japan weren’t happy with the game and there was a backlash over just how relevant your family is compared to some npc character.

As you have Playstation TV can you play vita games in co-op with 1 person on Playstation TV and the other on vita or is it possible to play vita games in split screen co-op on Playstation TV?

    Tuulenpoika 3 December, 2014 @ 5:16 pm

    @Izorpo

Yes, I’ve managed to play against myself in Dissidia 012 with one PSP and one Vita TV. I think all the other PSP and Vita games support multiplayer in the similar way, too. And it’s freaking sweet. Can’t wait to try Gods Eater Burst in four player mode with some friends.

    Tuulenpoika 3 December, 2014 @ 5:22 pm

    @Izorpo

Oh, and forgot – only few Vita games support multiplayer on same screen, so the same applies to Vita TV. Despite that, Spelunky, for example, has been updated to be playable on one Vita TV with four players. The PS1 games also support this depending on the game – if it was possible to play with four players in the original (like Crash Team Racing, for example), then it’s possible on Vita TV since they added the controller support for four controllers some time ago.

    @Tuulenpoika

Cheers for the info. mainly considering picking one up to play EDF 2017 the online is dead and no one I know on PSN plays it so offline co-op would be really nice. 4 player offline co-op sounds really nice as well

m3gaman2020 3 December, 2014 @ 2:59 pm   17

Ok Sony/PlayStation some one give from there give an answer to this, why do you not adjust for the exchange from us dollars to pounds? You just replace a $ sign for a £fans don’t bother adjusting the price, Us games are priced at $60 and UK games are priced at £60 and that’s not right, they should be £45 at most oonthe eu store, Seriously Sony you need to start adjusting these prices. I’d be more than happy to buy digital if you just pay attention to the exchange rate, physical copys of games £40- £45 in stores on the psn £60, so start adjusting these prices already, it’s getting bloody ridiculous now. Just look at your so called sale for lords of the fallen that’s £30 in stores for it’s normal price but you call it a sale? Psn prices are ridiculously stupid and unfair if you live outside the US.

    zalwelgoedgaan 3 December, 2014 @ 3:10 pm

    The publishers decide the prices.

Many publishers are a bunch of [MODERATED].

    Bashful1979 3 December, 2014 @ 3:22 pm

I agree with this. I remember many years ago when we first heard about digital games on consoles I read in many places that since the costs of retail, manuals, boxes etc would not be present that games would be cheaper to buy digitally than in the shops. Many years later and still look at PSN, charging about up to 50% more than the high end brand new retail copy. They really need to look at their pricing structure. I understand we may never get games as cheap as you can on PC but still be in line with retail prices or a little cheaper to give us an incentive to buy digitally.

They can’t out price the retailers. It sucks I know but for some reason they can’t.

    fustacluck 3 December, 2014 @ 6:29 pm

I may be wrong, but at some point I think I heard that this is as a result of what’s known as a “Favoured Nations” contract. As I understand it, in order to get retailers, like Wal-Mart in the States, to stock the product on their shelves companies have to agree to set their RRP so that the retailer can sell it for a certain percentage less, making them a preferred seller in the eyes of the consumer, and still make a profit. Unfortunately, retail is still an important percentage of sales of console games (and Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo still need to retail to put their hardware on the shelves), and we’re stuck in a loop where consumers will always go where the product is cheaper, making putting their stock on the retailers’ shelves as important as ever. As it is down to the publishers to set the prices on any online store, they would be breaking that contract if they released there for any less than than that RRP.

It sucks big time, but hopefully as consumers become more used to digital downloads and retail becomes less and less important, things might change.

As for the discrepency between US and UK prices (sorry I don’t know how Euro prices work out), you have the exorbitant taxing by the UK government to thank for that one. Write to your MP, maybe (although with their history of disdain for games, gaming and gamers I’m not sure you’ll get that far)? I don’t know what else could be done.

madmanwithabox12 3 December, 2014 @ 3:02 pm   18

P4AU DLC went up yesterday, been enjoying Margaret and the P3 music. Can’t wait for the final drop next week with the P4 and PQ music. Such an awesome game, though still a bit disheartening that the free BGM packs have a price attached for Europe but it’s only 79p.

prices on the TT games xD

Good job screwing over people least you guys are good at something right?

kuchekuche 3 December, 2014 @ 3:06 pm   20

When will we get 1001 spikes?

I was really excited for Teslagrad but we’ve heard nothing for ages… what a surprise!

Although I believe we were promised a Vita version? Any idea where that’s got to?

Teslagrad Vita is scheduled for an early next year release in both physical and downloadable versions.

Rain Games have in their Twitter and in their website a very useful chart detailing specifc timeframes for every console release if you want to check.

Aha, useful info! Thanks a lot!

Syberia? That’s certainly a surprise. Pretty great point’n’click adventure game though, bought it for PC about a decade ago.

Point and click adventure? I recall two Syberia games on the original xbox. I always thought they were a type of RPG and didn’t they have mammoths in them?

For years they have had a TBC PS3 disc of Syberia at Shopto. They also have a Dracula release on PS3 for years which has never come out. Both had multiple games on the disc and were budget release prices.

Anyone wants to make Otogi and Code of the Samurai updates…would certainly appreciate those

So i checked the price for Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones on your competitors plattform and there is a 100 Norwegian Kroner price difference between them. How can this happen? Someone should tell Telltale that this is unacceptable

So, who exactly is responsible for going back on Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s free DLC? It was reported several times leading up to its release that the DLC characters would all be free for the first week, only becoming paid afterwards.
http://www.polygon.com/2014/7/1/5862518/persona-4-arena-ultimax-dlc-free-in-first-week-atlus-sponsoring-evo
http://www.destructoid.com/margaret-marie-adachi-will-be-5-dlc-in-persona-4-ultimax-281705.phtml

What’s the explanation here? I’ll have a guess: “Shut up Europe; you don’t get it for free.”

TehPunizher 3 December, 2014 @ 3:24 pm   25

i get so confused with this Store prices, PS4 was said to be more user friendly for DEV’s ( similar to the PC ) yet the PS4 version of Game of Thrones is more expensive than the PS3 and more expensive than on PC W.T.F… if SONY “doesn’t come up with the prices” then who does?

Tales from the Borderlands sells for the same price (PS4 and Steam) so why is Game of Thrones more? 😐 stop ripping us off

    Bashful1979 3 December, 2014 @ 3:28 pm

The problem is people will buy them if they are fans of Telltale games, I unfortunately will hold my hands up being one of these. I do not agree with the differences in price though and am wondering whether to just download it on ps3 and buy it on ps4 when it comes out as retail and wait for the price to drop.

    I won’t be buying it at all…ever.

Why on earth would anyone throw money at some company that time and again has shown they don’t care at all for their European market. That has on many occasions actively antagonized their European customers by late releases of content and pricing… $24.99 is actually equal to £15.91 and by paying £24.99 its actually $39.27

    Kotatsu2000 3 December, 2014 @ 4:59 pm

Buy it on iOS or on Steam. The only way to make Sony listen is by voting with your wallet.

What is going on with this new jetpack joyride game.

As there very confuseing prices for two versions. And they are free on the store. Well the dulux ed is free anyway.

Wavey_Dave_76 3 December, 2014 @ 3:28 pm   27

You guys are an absolute f@$kin’ JOKE! Yet another week with zero PS3 content for rocksmith. You do realise they release DLC EVERY WEEK right? So now… 10 weeks waiting for you get your finger out each others ar$es and post the creed pack… Still waiting for the tom petty pack, the foo fighters DLC, BFMV, and now this weeks bon jovi release is missing, and every week we add a new lot to that list. A whole 4 tracks more for the PS4… that goes a long way to make up for the 400 items we are lacking compared with everyone else.

Seriously, what exactly do you do there? GET… IT… SORTED!

So, why aren’t the DLC characters for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax free? Leading up to release it was stated many times that they would be free for the first week, and become paid DLC later. And yet they’re now released alongside the game for $6.75 a pop. What’s the explanation here?

Atlus promised them for free. Sega EU published it here. They never promised them for free sadly. And already said(after release) they wont be free either. So its Sega there’s to blame here.

X_Blood_Curse_X 3 December, 2014 @ 3:32 pm   29

Thats a whooole lot of BS DLC this week.

R.I.P complete games

Dear Santa Jawad,

For Christmas this year I would like to have the Legacy DLC made available for the PS4 version of Rocksmith 2014, or at least an update as to why it’s not up on the SCEE store when it’s available onthe SCEA store and the Xbox One store worldwide, even though it was on this blog that it was announced that all of the Legacy DLC would be available.

Any sort of response would be nice since my last request for this information, two days ago, was completely ignored.

Yours with milk and cookies,

fustacluck

Hey Jawad, How do we get The Crew Pre-Order Bonus?

TrueMurton 3 December, 2014 @ 3:38 pm   36

That markup on the TT games can get lost.

Will wait for the traditional half price season pass the week before Episode 3 is supposed to come before its inexplicably delayed.

The Crew
Price:£59.99/€69.99/$99.95
in US Store – $59.99

$99.95, really? $99.95??? No box, no manual, no disc. Digital FTW 🙂

Hahahahahahahahaha !!!

Good one, good luck with that.

$99.95 ? Damn.

KaneTheGoth 3 December, 2014 @ 3:57 pm   38

Does anyone know when the GoT game is set? Is it before or after/during the series? I’m yet to see the series but I do love adventure games so would be tempted. Just not if I need to have seen the show first!

    Bashful1979 3 December, 2014 @ 4:06 pm

It is set between I think it’s halfway through season 3 to just before season 5. I have read up a lot about it and in some parts it does say it is catered for the fans and some things will pop up like red wedding and things meaning it is set around this time. I do not watch the show either but will still be buying it, if I need to know anything I shall ask for a quick recap from my partner about that part :p It should be fine as a standalone though since you can just look up online the bits you do not understand.

I can’t remember exactly when it’s set, some time during Season 3 of the TV show as far as I can tell from the backstories of certain TV characters.

But no, you don’t need to have seen the show or read the books and it will not spoil anything.

    KaneTheGoth 3 December, 2014 @ 5:00 pm

Much appreciated answers, thanks Bashful and tbtower 🙂

    DarkArchoNx66 4 December, 2014 @ 9:09 pm

    @KaneTheGoth

Just before the red wedding (probably means nothing to you)…It begins a little while before the end of the third season (halfway the third book as well) and it must end before the end of the 5 season..Can tell you exactly where the end of the game is compared to the books cause is a huge mess..They’ve kind mixed things up onward the end of the third season cause the 4th book isn’t very interesting (3 main characters don’t even show up except Jon Snow and he is involved on someone else’s chapter) and the show has kind gone its own way..Cutting stuff there and adding some other here.

Anyway, I believe the game can be played without having read the books..I don’t think it is very important in terms to the bigger plot..It’s a point a click action adventure so it’s gotta be good especially if it is half as good as the walking dead. I have no doubt they will have an interesting story tell. The universe of GOT (OR Ice and Fire) is huge and there are so many things that haven’t been cleared or become known…You should watch the show, or better yet read the books. I watched a playthrough of the first episode and there were some references about the show/books that you may not be able to understand without better knowledge of the series.

RobbySpurs 3 December, 2014 @ 4:06 pm   39

Hey, SCEE, there is a game called Rocksmith 2014 that has been sold to us as supporting DLC. Every week there is a complete failure to post any of it to the store (save a complete joke of a random 4 tracks this week for the PS4). Every week there are complaints by YOUR CUSTOMERS, and every week those complaints are ignored, and every week there is a failure to post any DLC or provide reasons why it has not been posted, so there are more complaints, which are ignored. See the pattern? Is this seriously the way you treat loyal customers. No communication whatsoever?

Will someone, anyone, please explain why Microsoft manage to post the content, but you cannot.

    Nice avatar lol

    BaLRoG_ZA 4 December, 2014 @ 4:47 am

I bought Rocksmith on Steam for my Mac. I will not be supporting SCEE anymore.

All my future digital games will be bought off the US psn.

SCEE is killing the Playstation brand in Europe. If that is what they want, that is what they will get.

    Stand up against this bullying!!!

Still no news on an Adventure Time release on the Vita in EU? This makes me sad!!

The price of the two Telltale games is appalling and galling in equal measure.

It was bad enough when Sony thinks the Euro and $$$ equate (Euro of course is worth more) and now to salt the wounds Sony is now stating the £ is equal to the $? I usually wait for a sale on complete series of Telltale but funny enough I find that I won’t this time around. As a matter of fact because of the blatant disregard for European customers/ consumers…such as excessive long delays after the US receives their episodes. This questionable exchange rate on both Game of Thrones and Tales From The Borderlands is the last coffin nail.

May I have a refund on all my prior purchases of Telltale games? Seriously, honestly they can have Sam and Max, Back to The Future, Jurassic Park, Wolf Amongst Us, The Walking Dead 1 &2 games back. I’d rather scrap dog crap off my boot than keep the games.

Europeans once again get to subsidize the American gaming market whilst America not merely content with Europe paying for their media “needs” also dictates who EU member states can and can’t trade with (cough *Russia* cough) much to the detriment of the people living in the EU.

Whilst on the subject of corporatocracy (re U$)…today is the 30th anniversary of Bhopal disaster in India 15,000 dead and 500,000 affected from the leak of the US corporation Union Carbide pesticide plant.

I’ve installed the Minecraft Skyrim pack, but how do I select it? It doesn’t show up in textures or skins.

I’ve got the exact same issue with the Steampunk texture pack both on PS4 and on my Vita….

    burntbreadman 3 December, 2014 @ 7:26 pm

Agree, this is ridiculus. Jawad, ANSWER US PLEASE!.

I’m just glad I don’t buy much stuff off the store because I personally couldn’t deal with this bs every week.

    Kotatsu2000 3 December, 2014 @ 4:50 pm

Maybe it will be out by Halloween next year. Games often get lost in the bizarro world of SCEE certification. Quite why there isn’t a single, global cert (as Microsoft have used since day one) is truly baffling.

SCEE have always displayed a level of amateurish incompetence which has never gone away, which is odd given what a strong market this is for them. Witness the usual PSN maintenance times always set exactly to inconvenience Europeans the most, and Americans and Japanese the least. It’s long since become tiresome and infantile.

Yeah it’s pretty ridiculus. I’ve given up on the game and will pick it up one day, if it goes on sale. I’m not paying full price for this, when it’s months old and there has been ZERO communication, as always on matters like this, from SCEE.

I can take the crappy maintenance but I can’t stand how long it takes to send a message. It’s 2014 it shouldn’t take 10 mins to read and send messages. Disgraceful.

    Rockwave92 4 December, 2014 @ 12:05 am

Hey mate, why don’t you buy it from the American store? create an account and buy a psn card from Amazon US and ge the game. That’s what i did.

    TrueMurton 4 December, 2014 @ 11:14 am

Sony consider it bad form to talk about certification failures and feel it’s up to the developer to release this sort of information, but I used to work in games QA and still get the odd bit of gossip from the industry. For example I was posting of a rumour that DriveClub PS+ was going to be cancelled over a week before Shu did his open letter thing saying it was on indefinite hold.

According to what I’ve heard Costume Quest 2 failed Sony QA before Halloween, we already know this. What hasn’t been publicly revealed however is that when Double Fine sent it back in the PS4 version failed again, as it’s a themed game and Halloween is over, Double Fine aren’t making a third attempt at release, this is basically CS:GO for this year. A game that is effectively cancelled but neither party wants to tell you it’s cancelled for fear of twitter backlash.

I3loodthirsty 3 December, 2014 @ 4:24 pm   46

I was looking forward to getting tales from the borderlands & game of thrones but seeing as yet again we are getting the middle finger with the prices compared to other systems I think I ll wait until they are on sale

Also, the commenting system sucks sometimes, hence the double post.

‘boy racers’ is a bit much no?, by similar definition I wonder what description a anime or fighting Game fan base may be known as?. Not that I myself am into the club, just found it very hard to miss the boy racers jab, most probably a subconscious description, or am I wrong in my little world when assuming when someone uses the term ‘boy racer’ it’s ‘mostly’ as a insult, tbh am getting fed up with lack of professionalism and all nod’s and winks you give to other anime/fighter game fans, grow up maybe?

Ive purchased the Minecraft Skyrim mash up unlock key, so where do i find the actual game content?

I’m guessing there’s some issue as I’ve purchased the Steampunk texture pack and it’s not showing as an option on my PS4 or my Vita….. >_<

Is Europe unwittingly part of some sort of experiment to attempt to raise the price of gaming? There is no logic in digital being more expensive than physical, quite the opposite in fact.

Sony, please end this experiment. As was recently said rather well on Games Industry.biz, you are retarding game sales by setting prices at such an artificially high level. Consumers aren’t stupid, and as physical dies you risk seriously damaging gaming by leaving the only option absurdly high digital pricing. Learn from iOS, learn from Steam. Digital can be done right, done in a way which benefits devs and gamers. The way you’re going about it now, presumably to appease the last remaining retailers, is dangerous and needs to stop. It’s time to remove the blinkers.

The whole gaming world is under some (mad?) ones microscope atm, people who can’t be named are trying very hard to alter it, there well into this experiment as well, now fingers crossed it won’t take it all the way the film industry went, it’s certainly altered it in a similar way premier league changed ‘the working mans’ game into what it is now, unfortunately there Very good at this stuff and en masse’s believe it is a better/for the best scenario, (premier league that is) and same has happened to gaming, not sure if reading the pr they sell us is worse or less than when I read the replies some posters put up, in either defence of way of all this or worse, in attack of any one who there comfortable in putting down/writing off as silly/mad etc.
All I know for 100% Fact is if publishers set prices then why/how did Sen get the price freeze for US?, they (sen) either have No control, or they have control, not a mix when it suits those that want to use publishers as ‘only’ bad bunch.

This all started at E3 2013 when a Sony Exec announced that first party games would release at 60 USD, both retail and download. Third party publishers and even MS were forced to match this offer otherwise they risk losing sales. Sony Japan applied this same policy as well but for whatever reason, Europe did not. With Sony Europe applying a 40% rise in their prices, no doubt to offset reduced profits from the price freeze in the US, all other publishers had cause to do the same, end result? We pay in excess of 50 quid per game so that the US can continue to pay under 40.

Tax and distribution don’t explain it either. The tax rates didn’t change overnight when the PS4 launched and due to a flaw in the tax system downloads aren’t taxed anyway, Sony has a bluray manufacturing plant in the UK too so it’s not like games have to shipped here even for retail.

The price was never to go up slightly for everyone, but rather than do that Sony decided, and there was a decision involved here, to freeze prices in America and Japan and apply a huge increase to Europe to compensate for the lost revenue, simple.

Maybe I’m overly cynical but this pricing doesn’t surprise me:
