Badland: Game of the Year Edition announced for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita

Frogmind’s acclaimed adventure is console-bound this spring

I hope your 2015 is off to an awesome start. It’s an especially exciting time for all of us at Frogmind because today we can finally share with you our plans to bring our multi-award-winning action adventure game, BADLAND, to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita this spring as Badland: Game of the Year Edition!

Badland was initially released in 2013 on iPad. Our original goal was to create a console-quality game for tablets. Frogmind was just a team of two at the time, without the resources to enter the console market, but we always dreamed of bringing Badland to the PlayStation community someday.

Thankfully Badland did well enough to make that dream a reality. It got a brilliant reception at release, winning numerous awards, including the prestigious title of iPad Game of the Year from Apple. But the response from fans has always been the most rewarding for us, and we’re incredibly grateful to our players, who have given the game an average user rating of 4.7/5. We’ve gotten so many requests from the beginning for a PlayStation version of Badland, and it’s great to finally be able to say that it is coming soon.

Badland mixes innovative physics-based gameplay, creative level design and dynamic power-ups with stunning, atmospheric graphics and audio. You control a flying creature, Clony, through a beautiful forest with an ominous undertone, discovering an astonishing number of imaginative traps, puzzles and obstacles on your way to finding out just what is going on.

We want Badland: Game of the Year Edition to be perfect on PlayStation platforms. It builds on the atmospheric, hand-painted graphics of the original with enhanced full-HD visuals. We’ve focused on delivering the best gameplay possible, expanding the controls to fit naturally with the analog stick and triggers. You also have a lot more freedom with those controls – you can now fly backwards as well as manage the speed of your flying, a change which required us to carefully modify every level in the game to accommodate.

But all that extra effort has been worth it. Badland: Game of the Year Edition features four times more content than the original did at launch. It has 100 single-player levels (which should take around 15 hours to complete), 100 co-op levels and 27 deathmatch stages for up-to-four-person local multiplayer awesomeness. It also has a platinum trophy and supports cross-buy and cross-play functionality. So not only can you keep your progress going on your Vita after playing on PS4, for instance, but you also only need to pay for Badland once to get it across all platforms.

Badland: Game of the Year Edition will come out this spring, so if you’re into beautiful, atmospheric action adventures, or just want to try something unique, keep an eye out for it!

We’ll be back later in the year to talk more about the game and reveal the exact launch date, but until then, I’d be more than happy to answer any questions I can in the comments below!
