Retro shoot ’em up Aces of the Luftwaffe swoops onto PS4 next week

Hello PlayStation fans! I’m Christopher Kassulke, the CEO of HandyGames GmbH, and we’re happy to announce that we’ll release our awesome retro shooter Aces of the Luftwaffe for PS4 next Wednesday, 25th February.

A little bit about us. HandyGames celebrates its 15th anniversary in April. We’re an independent team of around 65 dedicated talents, all based in the heart of good old Germany.

In 2013, we started our “beyond mobile” strategy. This means releasing the great titles we’ve been producing for over a decade for smartphones and tablets on other platforms as well. One of the biggest wishes of our team was to bring games to PlayStation, and this dream will come true very soon!

During GDC 2014, our friends from Sony Mobile introduced us to the PlayStation team and we started to talk seriously about releasing one of our blockbusters for PS4 in 2015.

About one year later, Aces of the Luftwaffe is finally ready to go live, and we think it’s a perfect fit for the platform! You cannot imagine how proud we are to finally release it on this console. It was a tough road with many challenges, but it’s worth the effort.

Aces of the Luftwaffe is a classic retro shoot ’em up. You play as the Allies fighting against the evil-but-badass Germans (I am allowed to say that – I’m German!). As you can imagine, it’s not a historically correct game; it’s about having fun! You can choose between three different planes and pilots with different skills, from a fast but not heavily armored Spitfire, to the “Beast” – my favorite heavy fighter: slow, but deadly. In five different level packages, you have to beat the likes of Major Köhler with his flying tank, or Commander Eugen with his armoured Zeppelin.

You can collect mighty power-ups in each mission. Multiply the fire power of your plane, repair damage on the fly, call for wingmen or use the super power of each plane to give them hell.

You can, of course, also upgrade all the planes so that they get more powerful in your missions. Use the collected medals in the game and use them wisely. We have a variety of missions, from escorting your bombers to enemy territory, to destroying enemy tanks on the front lines. We really honour the genre with this title and bring a great gaming experience to your PS4!
