Look at that awesome Golden Week sa- oh wait

    StormCloudLive 29 April, 2015 @ 11:50 am

Aye, compare getting 100+ Japanese games reduced compared to monopoly deal and monopoly plus… tis a slap in the face a bit. Wish they would unify the EU/US psn stores.

At least we finally get Alien Isolation for PS4. Most of th Golden Week stuff is for the PS3, so meh.

EU has never had a Golden Week sale. The US always does…at least this is how its been since 2011. It’s no surprise the US “celebrates” Golden Week, after all they have over 30 military bases in Japan and have been an “occupying” the country since…end of WW2. That’s an awful lot of Americans living in Japan.

end of hisory lesson…and well maybe a few bits on vita appeal – scrach Aeterno Blade (should have picked it up on 3ds sale for £6)

We have a had a Japanese game sale…once and people moaned that there weren’t enough AAA titles, people moaned when they gave us Okami with plus…same for Katamari on vita…we voted to get RPG’s for plus and the AAA fps crowd wasn’t happy with that, any game that doesn’t have some “all important” metacritic rating….they moan

I wish there was a global store…and I wish that loads of f2p games on Japanese store would be released here ahem Dragon’s Dogma Quest, Onigiri, Dynasty Warriors Online..Phantasy Star Online

I was hoping for a Golden Week sale as well 🙁

SzczurekPB 29 April, 2015 @ 11:09 am   3

Everybody do yourself a favour and buy Hand of Fate 😉

Formulapetch 29 April, 2015 @ 11:12 am   4

Isn’t CollectOrb releasing today for PSM? According to DaishGames it will release with the update?

    Dragon1980 29 April, 2015 @ 2:02 pm

This is just the discounts post the store update post usually is later.
Hope so btw looking forward to trying this game out.

Not a bad sale. Picking up Alien Isolation.

Also just a question, how come Resident Evil Revelations 2 – Episode 1 is on sale while the entire season isnt? That makes no sense at all.

It actually makes. They sell the first part cheap so people will try it and then they may want to buy the rest.

    eoinoreilly24 29 April, 2015 @ 12:12 pm

It’s not a deal, it’s a marketing ploy from Capcom, as Rochala mentioned. Still, good deal for those who want to sample before they buy.

jon_h_blake 29 April, 2015 @ 11:12 am   6

Is there going to be a Golden Week sale as same as in US store?

SCARECRQW 29 April, 2015 @ 11:12 am   7

EU gets shafted again, how come NA gets an amazing golden sale yet we get left over scrap?

    HeikeStagBeetle 29 April, 2015 @ 12:30 pm

That Golden Week sale on the US store looks like a poor copy of the numerous sales on the same content we get frequently over here. I bought Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for €4 a few weeks ago in the Easter sale, now it’s $8/$10 on the US store. Ateliers, Sorcery Saga, Demon Gaze, HDN Victory, Natural Selection, Yakuza: Dead Souls, Tales of Xilia… honestly, if that sale was presented here, it would be dismissed as yet another repeat.

Of course, it’s very natural to want what you can’t have. And right now, those deals only exist there and not here. But we’ll get our chances soon enough.

(To be honest, there are a few entries in that sale that would interest me – HDN Re;2 for example. Let’s hope that that game will get a discount here soon.)

Except where Persona 4 Arena Ultimax DLC is concerned, because Sega, Atlus and whoever else are involved in that venture still can’t pinpoint Europe on a map.

    Porcupeth00 29 April, 2015 @ 1:02 pm

A repeat? Rebirth 2 and Hyperdevotion haven’t been on sale in EU, ever. Producing perfection is 9 dollars, cheapest price it’s been in EU is 20€. Akiba’s trip for ps4 is something like 24 dollars, cheapest for us was 35€. Those are just some examples

JFCCMcDondy 29 April, 2015 @ 11:12 am   8

Man I wish we also had a Golden Week sale. I was ready to toss some money at you Sony!

madmanwithabox12 29 April, 2015 @ 11:13 am   9

No Golden Week sale?

I bet we won’t get the Freedom Wars themes either. =/

Decent sale all the same. Are the PSP versions of the Battlefront games any good? I can’t imagine they hold up next to the PS2/Xbox versions.

No extra PS+ discount for Destiny? Hand of Fate and Castlestorm are tempting…..

ChunkyDroid 29 April, 2015 @ 11:17 am   11

I take it due to the lack of Australian prices that these won’t be in effect for us? Shame.

StevenJamesHyde 29 April, 2015 @ 11:21 am   12

I’ll take Frozen Synapse Prime for that price, and almost forgive you for not putting it on Plus alongside the PS3 version

EternalChaos72 29 April, 2015 @ 11:22 am   13

The only thing that even remotely interests me is the map pack bundle for RE6

Winter-Dragon 29 April, 2015 @ 11:23 am   14

And here I was anticipating a Golden Week sale. I guess I should have saw this coming though given past track record.

maximalcheetor 29 April, 2015 @ 11:27 am   15

Another week, another set of “the US has xx so why don’t we…” posts. Why not just accept the sale (and store content) for what it is – products targeted at the EU market. They get sales and games we don’t, we get sales and games that they don’t and that’s just life – deal with it.

That applies to all aspects of life, media, memorabilia, merchandise or anything else so why get worked up over it? In the early days of DVD there were major time differences with release schedules for some films between the US and UK, and on several occasions I imported Region 1 DVDs before the same movies even made it into the cinemas here but was it worth getting stressed out over? No. They’re just GAMES people and there are more important things in life.

I’d bet that there are people saying the same over on the US blog about games that we get or our sales too.

How about everyone gets the same sales because that’s obviously what everybody wants? There’s no need for these regional restriction on a digital platform in 2015

    SCARECRQW 29 April, 2015 @ 11:44 am

its not just deals though, the US gets favoured by playstation in every way possible even digital prices on the EU store are overpriced for the most part, then they wonder why people make US accounts. As consumers we have a right to make our voice heard if we feel we do not get the service that we deserve.

So yes If people want to complain then they can we should no just “deal with it”

    MaxDiehard 29 April, 2015 @ 11:47 am

Just because it happened in the past, doesn’t mean it can’t now. This is supposed to be the digital era.

    fauxtronic 29 April, 2015 @ 12:08 pm

    > That applies to all aspects of life, media, memorabilia, merchandise or anything else

Actually it doesn’t. Steam discounts apply in all countries. While the base price may be different, if a title has 75% off for 24 hours from this evening, that discount will apply to every user of the service, regardless of their location, regardless of the currency they use.

If there are more important things in life, then maybe you should take your own advice and stop complaining about people who wish to air their concerns.

    eoinoreilly24 29 April, 2015 @ 12:32 pm

I don’t compare the US and EU branches of the company much, but just comparing how things are done here in Europe to other companies in general, my opinion is that their practices are relatively anti-consumer. What irks me most is the ludicrous pricing of digital games. I now enjoy the luxury of being able to afford games at launch, but just because I can doesn’t mean I should have to spend more for digital games than I would for physical copies. The only logical explanation is that Sony have deals with physical retailers, because there is literally no other reason why digital games should be so expensive. Another huge problem is the lack of feedback when there is a problem. I could forgive the major mistakes made on a routine basis here if there was a policy of acknowledgement of fault and some basic explanation of the issue. Instead inquiries are ignored. You’re right, it’s not a big deal in the grand scheme, but it’s depressing that the games industry is just so utterly cynical, and it’s especially frustrating to read the “thank yous” and such from people on the rare occasions when they are treated fairly or apologists for the poor treatment of customers. Thanks should be reserved for when a special effort is made, not when what should be the bare minimum is delivered.

MaxDiehard 29 April, 2015 @ 11:34 am   16

Star Wars Force Unleashed II was total rubbish. Played it on PS, but I can’t say no to £2.76.

Mad-Vampire 29 April, 2015 @ 11:43 am   17

According to this list Outland is available for PS4?
Do they mean Outlast?

danielm1979 29 April, 2015 @ 11:43 am   18

But, but… it’s GOLDEN week!!!

I think Outland should be in PS3 games list.

Aww I was hoping for discount on the Destiny DLC/Season Pass

    Stonesthrow 29 April, 2015 @ 8:00 pm

Me too.. I always seem to wait for stuff that doesn’t get quick pricecuts, and buy stuff that does -_-

WearingFin 29 April, 2015 @ 11:55 am   21

There are some good games here, I’m a bit tempted by Hand of Fate, Unmechanical and Citizens of Earth.

It should go without saying that Child of Light and Alien Isolation are great value at that price, with a few of the PS4 titles worth a punt at the lower price like Murdered Soul Suspect, Shadow Warrior and Watch Dogs.

Absolute garbage in Motorcycle Club and Rugby 15 though…

JAW8856ADL 29 April, 2015 @ 11:57 am   22

looking at Golden Week usa sale ….my heart broken …

ScaryRhinos 29 April, 2015 @ 11:57 am   23

Is Alien Isolation worth a punt? Been toying with it for a while but I thought it had very mixed reviews.
I’m thinking that or Resident Evil HD.

You’re confusing it with Colonial Marines, which was terrible. Alien Isolation was met with critical acclaim.

    WearingFin 29 April, 2015 @ 12:04 pm

Yes to both. Alien Isolation was one of the best games of last year, it was just a bit surprising for some reviewers who were perhaps still sore from Colonial Marines. Great survival horror game.

Resident Evil HD is great too, but I don’t think you’ll see Alien Isolation going much lower in price, whilst you’ll certainly get a better discount than 30% on Resident Evil in the coming months

    ScaryRhinos 29 April, 2015 @ 12:10 pm

Ah Colonial Marines, that was it! Yeah, just reading up on it now and it appears a lot of people praise Isolation. Thanks for the info guys!

    eoinoreilly24 29 April, 2015 @ 12:19 pm

Actually, Alien Isolation did get some mixed reviews. It’s not a perfect game, but well worth it if you’re a fan of horror games and especially if you liked the aesthetic of Ridley Scott’s original Alien movie. The developers absolutely nailed the feel of that movie, in my opinion.

    RedMustang72 29 April, 2015 @ 12:22 pm

I though Isolation was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed it and it’s a great price for it, well worth it!

100% worth it. @Nesther he us not confusing it with colonial marines, colonial marines got absolutely slated by reviews with no one having much positive to say about it. Alien Isolation had mixed reviews where some people enjoyed it and others moaned about, specifically IGN and Gamespot. Trust me scaryrhinos I felt the same as you and did not buy this game until only 2 months ago, because I was put off by bad reviews. I have not completed the game yet but am a considerable way through the game, but so far is one of the best games I have played this year. The atmosphere is fantastic and tense and evading the alien is bloody scary at times, but admittedly once you acquire the flamethrower it sort of loses the fear a bit, admittedly I have not got much further than when you first get the flamethrower so the fear may still come back, but certainly for the next couple of encounters with the alien you finally have a defense against it which if I’m honest I would rather not have. All in all though it is definitely worth buying and especially with the discounted price, now is the time to get it. Don’t let the reviews put you off, I certainly can’t understand their reasons for not liking the game.

    ScaryRhinos 29 April, 2015 @ 1:29 pm

Broads that’s right, IGN and a couple of others put me off a little bit but good to know you had the same thoughts and enjoying it now. Thanks for the response, I might well download it today!

fauxtronic 29 April, 2015 @ 12:01 pm   24

So you reduced Watch_Dogs but not the DLC. Shame. I’d have bought the Season Pass but I don’t consider it worth £15.99 at this stage. I wish Sony would take a leaf out of Valve’s book and reduce both base game *and* DLC when discounting stuff. Hell, it would be nice if discounts were rotated more than once a week.

I’ve beginning to lose interest in my PS4 due to the price of and lack of content and I’ve only owned it four months. All the non-exclusive games I buy on Steam because they are often cheaper there at full price than the discounted price in the PS Store.

Corruptedczech 29 April, 2015 @ 12:04 pm   25

Who cares about Golden Week when you can play Tetris on your PS4 for only 4.99 EUR!

Dante_MS_RUS 29 April, 2015 @ 12:14 pm   26

Sony doesn’t care about Europe.

FantasyMeister 29 April, 2015 @ 12:16 pm   27

Great price on Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition, highly recommend anyone with a PS4 to pick that up for £11.99, that’s a steal price.

First time in ages I’ve actually made a list of what I’m going to buy when my bank balance gets a bit more positive:

Bound by Flame
Daylight
Resident Evil HD

and, as recommended by others in this thread:

Hand of Fate.

Thanks for a great sale (for me at least)!

Spiral_CAT 29 April, 2015 @ 12:18 pm   28

Need Golden Week Sales for my Playstation 3 !

jessesam14 29 April, 2015 @ 12:23 pm   29

Any chance we can expect a PSP sale where the JRPG games get some love?
I would very much appreciate it!

    PSP! PSP! PSP!

    MaxDiehard 29 April, 2015 @ 1:27 pm

I assume they’ll only do discounts now on PSP games that are Vita compatible, as PSP no longer has PSN support.

    jessesam14 29 April, 2015 @ 1:43 pm

@MaxDiehard There are still a good amount of JRPG games compatible with the PSVita. I’ll just continue to keep on hoping that eventually they will be on sale. I also hope @Jawad will do his best 😉

    Lance_87 29 April, 2015 @ 2:30 pm

@MaxDiehard: they didn’t disable PSN on PSP. They disabled the Playstation Store app. That news created some confusion.

    Lance_87 29 April, 2015 @ 2:31 pm

If they really disabled PSN on PSP then it wouldn’t be possible to activate anything, too.

CShasuki 29 April, 2015 @ 12:23 pm   30

I think the US golden sale is more chocolate brown colour.

TrueMurton 29 April, 2015 @ 12:25 pm   31

Will be grabbing Hand of Fate, possibly one or two others. While base prices are still way off compared to the US, and don’t decrease as the game gets older as they do in the US, that’s a good deal for what I hear is a good game.

Not keen on this new format of hiding the sales prices behind a simple % reduction. I get that its to try and hide the price difference with the US by showing its the same % reduction, but its misleading in some cases, mostly the full price retail games where there is still a significant markup.

Side note: after taking some criticism over calling out price differences I’ve crunched the numbers a bit and it seems that anything below about $20=/=£16 is generally going to be a negligible difference now that Sony actually has to pay VAT (it was unacceptable for Sony to charge this prior to the new financial year when they were paying jack and pocketing the extra money) I’ll now only point out significant differences and overly high conversions such as retail games that approach 1:1 on $:£. I’m not here to argue with people, just to make SCEE aware that we’re not happy with being overcharged in order to subsidise the US price freeze and flash sales.

SuperJag86 29 April, 2015 @ 12:27 pm   32

Any news on Guilty Gear Accent Core Plus returning to the store?

Hi Jawad.

Alien: Isolation price is updated but the Season Pass isn’t. Could you check that out?

Thanks in advance

    Harrisown 29 April, 2015 @ 1:00 pm

Can’t you wait until the stores full updated.
    Propagation….

    @ Harrisown

Please accept my apologies, kind sir.
I hadn’t realize store updates were done in parts. I thought it was all at once.

If I buy Destiny again, but as a digital download, will my season pass still work?

    TrueMurton 29 April, 2015 @ 12:38 pm

Should do. I bought the digital guardian edition on the 12 deals of Christmas and was able to play the season pass content in my disc while downloading the digital copy. You’re doing the same thing but other way around.

BluSpykz 29 April, 2015 @ 12:34 pm   35

Reckon I’ll pick a few of these up today… But after the PS+ reveal.

Speaking of which,.. Will that be today? 😀

    TrueMurton 29 April, 2015 @ 12:39 pm

It should, but then we all said that this time last month the and you saw what happened there.

    StevenJamesHyde 29 April, 2015 @ 12:59 pm

Yeah, it had already been out for 24 hours by this time last month. How silly we all looked, waiting

    StevenJamesHyde 29 April, 2015 @ 1:00 pm

Ah, you’re talking about the whole April 1st thing. I was making a nod to the fact that the announcement went up on a Tuesday rather than a Wednesday. Only one of those was even remotely unexpected

Lance_87 29 April, 2015 @ 12:34 pm   36

Hi Jawad, any ETA for a fix to the Download Queue on Playstation Store website?

    MaxDiehard 29 April, 2015 @ 1:29 pm

I assume you’re referring to the fact that the page freezes when trying to send a download to a system?

    Lance_87 29 April, 2015 @ 2:04 pm

Not sure what you mean with “freezing”, i get an error message which says that it couldn’t send the game/DLC/whatever to the Queue. And if it manages to go in the queue, it’s error code 80025B11 on my PS3.

    Lance_87 29 April, 2015 @ 2:08 pm

And please don’t tell me to change browsers: i’ve already tried. Firefox and Chrome give that error, and Internet Explorer doesn’t even let you log in (it asks to download “something” instead of passing the login screen)

I’m not seeing the Lego games in the Star Wars discounts on the Belgian PS Store. In fact, I don’t see any Lego Star Wars games there altogether…

    jarofermix 30 April, 2015 @ 9:50 am

That’s true – I do not see them either on the polish store. wth?

    Forkassal 2 May, 2015 @ 4:19 pm

Not in the Swedish store either (none of the PS2-classics games seem to be there). I really want to play Revenge of the Sith again 🙁

YessMasster 29 April, 2015 @ 12:43 pm   38

I’d gladly buy Force Unleashed II, however, it says “Disc Only” in PS Store >_>

trulydeadly1 29 April, 2015 @ 12:51 pm   39

Alien Isolation for €20 is crazy value. Such an amazing game. Any chance TLOU Remastered will get a discount soon? I missed out on the 12days of Christmas offer and have been waiting for another discount ever since…

Harrisown 29 April, 2015 @ 12:58 pm   40

Great sale. Some really decent deals there.
I bought retro city rampage DX last night.
This year is going to be a golden year for games….

misi2mezei 29 April, 2015 @ 1:09 pm   41

We need Japanese games sale too…
I tought Japanese games are more popular in the EU than in the US…

jarekmasta 29 April, 2015 @ 1:26 pm   42

So those that played Hands of Fate, is it really worth it? It looks fun but how much of a card game is it? Not sure what to feel from the gameplay videos I’m tempted though…

I’ll also pick up the RE Revelations to check it out, I was close to buying the physical version yesterday but I went with Alien lol, it was only a little bit more expensive than in this sale but I’ll have a physical version at least 😛

Oh and of course thanks for the sale! Despite the complaints, I’m sure there’s something for everyone in the there !

melbye82 29 April, 2015 @ 1:27 pm   43

Why are so many of the Star Wars-games not available in Norway?

wardenxx 29 April, 2015 @ 1:30 pm   44

Shame that Watch Dogs is still more expensive than retail disc that can be traded in towards more games on completion (£14.30 http://www.amazon.co.uk/UBI-Soft-3307215732816-Watch-Dogs/dp/B00BF6D62W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430310505&sr=8-1&keywords=watch+dogs)

    fauxtronic 29 April, 2015 @ 2:05 pm

Tell me about it. I feel like an idiot for buying £50 of PSN wallet credit a few months ago. If I’d bought Amazon gift vouchers instead I’d have spent the lot on decently priced games by now. As it stands, I’ll be surprised if I spend this £50 of wallet credit before summer 2016. If I could get a refund I’d do it in a shot, but of course, that’s not possible. Never again.

Why would you buy chunks of wallet credit? All you’re doing is giving Sony your money without any return so they can earn interest off of it – I only ever add funds to my wallet when I’m actually buying a game. Which – by the looks of this sale – will probably not happen again anytime soon.

spikewestphal 29 April, 2015 @ 1:44 pm   45

Slender man arrival on sale gonna have to get that

drmorris79 29 April, 2015 @ 1:55 pm   46

Will someone take Air conflicts vietnam off the store? It’s an insult.

giancian 29 April, 2015 @ 2:05 pm   47

Topped up my wallet in anticipation of Golden Week… what a dissapointment. I’ll reserve my hard earned money for when Sony decides to do an RPG sale in Europe.

NOSAJ19 29 April, 2015 @ 2:11 pm   48

Hi Jawad. There are some great new deals this week, but I was just wondering what the situation is regarding Narco Terror as it has never reduced to the advertised price from April 15th 2015 on the European PlayStation Blog and the two weeks sale period has now expired,

“Narco Terror – 70% off original price: Was €9.99/£7.99/AU$14.95″ at http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/04/15/new-playstation-store-discounts-start-today-3/ which should result in a price of £2.39, but it still displays at £7.99 on the European PlayStation Store page at https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/narco-terror/cid=EP4062-NPEB01373_00-NARCOTERROR00002

Just asking as I would quite like to buy it as I really like twin-stick shooter games and there have certainly been a few people commenting about waiting for the sale price to activate as there are definitely some people who would like to purchase it, so any help would be much appreciated by me and everyone else who would like to purchase the game at an excellent sale price.

Thanks!

Seeing as it’s Golden Week, and we’ve just had a brief spell of rain, would that make it a Golden Shower?
