New on PlayStation Store: Metal Slug 3, Broken Age, Tropico 5, more

And new savings on a host of PS4, PS3 and PS Vita titles.

First up this week, SNK’s arcade classic Metal Slug 3 is ready to explode. Heralded as one of the best in the series, MS3 has the sweet animation, the sublime gameplay, the branching paths for longevity and more to keep your hooked on slick, old school gaming.

Also out this week, Broken Age is an adventure game by Tim Schafer. Jump between the two teenaged characters on their unexpected, puzzle filled adventure. It also features the voce talent of Frodo Baggins (also known as Elijah Wood to the real world).

Topping off the week are more offers and discounts, from PS4 titles at less than £16, to our deal of the week in Destiny. All can be found on PlayStation Store.

Well, haven’t written here for a while.

1) Not expecting much, since after several months the situation with Vita TV hasn’t improved at all. Still a huge amount of essential PSP and PS1 games not compatible, with the majority of Final Fantasy games being the core example.

2) You decided to give us a great arcade sale last week, but the BlazBlue and the majority of Guilty Gear games were removed from PSN without any sort of announcement. What? I guess this has something to do with Arc System Works, but could you elaborate? And especially since Arc System Works’ games are available only in about half of European countries. I would like to buy their games if I just could.

3) Seriously, are you even trying to improve Vita TV’s situation? There are so many problems users have addressed, and I haven’t seen any improvement whatsoever. Even the US store has a whole different section for Vita TV compatible software.

4) We’re still missing a huge amount of PS1 Classics that US users have had for ages, like Legend of Dragoon, Xenogears and Breath of Fire 4. How about trying to get those games available for us, too?

And it’s not all bad, at least, just to end on a positive note. Gaijinworks says they are aiming to bring their two recently announced PSP games in European PSN, AND the so far unreleased Class of Heroes 2, too. We can only hope they can get those games here, given the usual way SCEE likes to handle things nowadays.

What is Vita TV? Is that like Playstation TV but you specifically need a Vita to use it? Thanks

1.2

Wait, when did the Arc System Works delisting happened?

1.3

VIta TV was the PlayStation TV’s original name, as marketed in Japan.

Sony doesn’t like the VIta though so they removed it from the name.

What a BIG surprise to not see any Rock Band DLC yet again. I have spent countless hours trying to figure out where to go for updates on the issue. For european customers, there either are no other place than this blog or I havent been able to find the needle in the haystack. For more than 3 months SCEE has been nothing but silent, although being asked week in and week out about news.

My love for Sony is breaking apart very fast, and unfortunately SCEE doesn’t care.

I considered adding a plea for updates on the issue, but why bother?

2.1

SCEE could not care less about rhythm gaming. I’m really getting fed up, being punished for wanting to play my games on a Sony platform, then only to have Sony(EU) take countless dumps right in my mouth week after week. I have contacted them every week since the DLC should have come out, via email, this awful blog, and via Facebook, and I have gotten ignored every week. If you want your content, go to SCEA, or Xbox, the people at SCEE do not care about you.

I see that you’re danish, let’s play Rock Band together, seriously, bruh

3

Oh, and just saw the update, and what the heck is up with Sayonara UmiharaKawase and Harvest Moon not being available in THAT many countries???

I was about to comment the same thing regarding Harvest Moon, why even bother release a PS1 classic if is only available in Mars? I dont get it

Same goes for Project Root, Maddening Overload, Paperbound, Rack n Ruin, Mercenaries, Secret Weapons over Normandy, Damascus Gear.

The lists of unsupported countries is a bit longer than normal, this week.

Maybe SCEE should implement a system where a publisher must correctly spell the names of the countries, where it does not want to publish them. Or hand-paint the flags. It should be more hassle to block publication in Belgium than to publish in Belgium.

aren’t we getting freedom wars themes today like US psn did yesterday?

4.1

New themes, in Europe, HAH!

Jawad Ashraf 29 April, 2015 @ 15:12
4.2

I don’t have any info on the theme for Europe just yet, sorry.

Hey Jawad!
Why is Rack N Ruin double the price from NA ? It’s only 15$ there…
I really hope that no one buys it at this price, it’s an insult to us.

Not project root for us Aussies. I never say no to a root

ha! i get it, but I’m actually pretty disappointed it isn’t available to us :(

guessing the dev didn’t want to put up the money to get it classified in Aus

Hi Jawad, any ETA for a fix to the download queue on Playstation Store website? It’s been like 4-5 days without being able to add anything to the queue: it just gives an error message. And if there’s something in the queue, it gives error code 80025B11 on console, PS3 in my case.

Any news about pre-order Call of duty black ops 3 in PS STORE QATAR

Mercenaries?! PRAISE THE SUN!

Does it have trophies?

10

…Freedom Wars theme? US got it yesterday! It’s ridiculous how much we get shafted. What’s the point with SCEE? To get less content than SCEA? What’s with this discrimination? If anything Europe is the main market for Playstation, not US.

I sthe price for UmiharaKawase correct? The publisher announced it to be 14.99€

11.1

Some indie developers have recently let slip details that suggest that publishers don’t control their pricing in all regions. Current theory is that they set the US price only and the region Sony offices deal with conversion.

Policy matters are tied up in NDA though, I can’t get anyone to tell me straight that this is the case. Just a couple of anecdotes and a lot of evidence in the way that several indie devs and even Codemasters, the UKs largest games publisher, recently had games released at prices above what they stated in their official marketing, including posts on this very blog. When I asked Fred about it though he acted like I was making it all up…

12

Why is Sayonara Umihara Kawase + 27€ but 20$ on the US store? Why are we paying so much more?

12.1

Listing error. I just checked the page a few minutes ago and it’s since been fixed since I just refreshed.

Today on EU PSN: Games for the UK. Sorry rest of Europe!

15

Mercenaries and Secret Weapons Over Normandy! Loved those games on back in the ps2 heyday.

Any rough idea when Yakuza 5 will be on PSN?

17

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction?!?!?! That’s awesome.

Please bring ‘Hogs of War’ (PS1) across and most importantly of all, the incredible ‘Downhill Domination’ on PS2!

Rocksmith PS4 import pack: hurrah!

New Rock Band 3 DLC: acknowledgement, apology and update now more than three months overdue.

18.1

Looks like I hurrah’d too soon. Where’s the import pack?

18.2

Friday so says Ubi. I’m guessing NaNaNa by My Chemical Romance will be posted then too.

18.3

I’m NaNaNa-t so fussed about MCR. :)

Was super stoked to see Secret Weapons Over Normandy, one of my childhood favorites on the store, then i notice that it’s not even available in my country. This is almost borderline comedy, i fail to see the point in even caring about these updates any more. Even Sayonara UmiharaKawase + that i was kinda looking forward to, and then it’s not available. I hope it’s only temporary, I’m going to be sad if it isn’t.

20

Umihara is nearly double the US price? Wat?

Any news on Pinball Arcade Season 4 for Vita?

Already brought Tropico at retail, however Mercenaries 1 AND Harvest moon B2N!? Can I play harvest moon on vita?

And do the character skin cheats I.e play as Han Solo and Indiana Jones still work on mercenaries?

23.1

Even if they don’t they were both hidden ublockables anyway. You don’t get a message telling you you’ve unlocked them, but one is given for 20 and the other for 100 of some collectible or another.

FortyPercent 29 April, 2015 @ 14:55
24

That Umihara price is insane. I was quite looking forward to it, but that’s a fair bit more than I expected it to be. I don’t usually care too much about the whole $20 = €20 thing, but this is even more than that. Might wait for a sale.

25

Heard anything about the black ops 3 pre order dlc? Meant to get a personalisation pack for advanced warfare but nothing on psn library or in download list. Please help :)

I picked up Project Root which is actually pretty fun, however, either it needs a patch or I’m losing my gaming skills…because it’s damned difficult!! Lol I had to switch from hard all the way down to easy just to finish the first two levels…and that was a struggle too. Hahaha

27

Amazing update picked up Broken Age yesterday and Rack n Ruin and Paperbound today. My PS4 is happy :P

28

Have you any news/information about the new vita themes (from freedom wars)?

Why can’t we get the Star Wars PS2 classics? I wanted to play Revenge of the Sith again :(

£21.99/€26.99/$40.95 for Sayonara UmiharaKawase +? Uuuuhh, SCEE, you’ve just revealed what many of us have suspected for months now, that you’re increasing prices at the last second without even telling publishers.

Agatsuma Entertainment announced last week that it would cost €15.99. Not €26.99.

Listing error and has been amended (thankfully)

So… Rock Band 3 DLC Update??? Come on… this is getting really annoying now. It’s been 3 Months Now Guys.

I’ve now lost all hope for Rock Band 4 having any form of support in the SCEE Zone.

Any indication on when the monthly PS Plus games will be announced?

32.1

First wednesday of every month, so 6th May.

counterUAVbaby 29 April, 2015 @ 15:29
32.2

6th of May is the date when you get the games, the games get announced the last Wednesday, but that isn’t the case anymore the last 2 months so we don’t know.

32.3

Oh yeah i got mixed up sorry. The announcement can’t be far away :)

33

LMAO! he got deleted!

And it took only several months! Yaaaaaaaay…

Oh my god, i’m so fed up by the support of SCEE, Fred should have been here and answering questions, but he just scratches himself. How about get a new manage in here who can answer questions all day long?

By the way, my brains reached to their zenith, so I bought Rockband and its DLC and Rocksmith too for Xbox 360.

Happy that whoever holds the Harvest Moon rights finally decided to release it and that I’m in one of the few countries where it’s available but when will it be available. Because right now it’s not, at least not in Austria. And don’t tell me it’s actually not coming here.

ah, missed the date. tomorrow it seems

Where is the Skullgirls DLC that came out in the US last week. The additional character Beowulf was supposed to come out at the same time worldwide!!

37.1

It was delayed, actually.

So why isn’t Harvest Moon on the store yet? Or is the non supported country list incomplete

Hi Jawad, thanks for the update. You seem to get it in the neck every time you post something. Lots of us read, and appreciate the blog. Many people, even with issues, appreciate it too I’m sure.

Broken Age is a great little game so far. I’ve only played a few hours and it’s very charming and endearing. It’s great break after finishing Bloodborne, basically the opposite type of game and tone!

Tropico looks tempting, but I’d rather something leisurely like it for some reason, rather than the grim realities of founding a city. Anyone playing it at the moment? How are you finding it? I guess I’m on a mellow games run at the moment after BB, Dying Light etc.

I’ve bought the Doodle Bundle (https://store.playstation.com/#!/nl-nl/games/doodle-god-doodle-devil-amp-doodle-kingdom/cid=EP4384-PCSB00556_00-DOODLEBUNDLE000E) but it only installs 1 out of 3 games? What seems to be the problem here?

project root :(, I pickup inmediately in us store… damm vita loss game.

DLC for Hatsune Miku: Project Diva F 2nd isn’t done right… again.

Doesn’t show up for the PS3 at all, and buying them from the PS Vita page gives you ONLY the PS Vita version. So I wasted nearly 6 euros now. Please fix this.

no project root in my first country? damm, buy at usstore

I really doubt we’re going to hear about Blazlblue from Sony, Arksys or Pqube. I guess they just want us to buy the new version instead.

Still no Rock Band 3 DLC?

Well Jawad, don’t say I didn’t warn you. I’ll be dragging your name into complaints lodged with the ACCC and Office of Fair Trading.

Well, you are alone on this, since publisher choose where to release or not to realease, and your country laws (if you have any) might limit it. Well you can contact the publisherr of those, but your chances are below 10%.

I’ve been psyched for Umihara Kawase, and now this?! What the heck? I’d appreciate it if you took the time to answer these questions:

Why is the game not available in half of Europe?
When will it become available for those of us not in the UK?
Why is the price so outrageous after the publisher stated that the European price tag would be 15€?

Thanks in advance!

Publishers request where they want their title pushed out to. I have no info on additional territory plans.

The price is being looked into now. Hopefully will have an update soon.

Will Force Unleashed II finally be available for the Nordics?
