New Disgaea 5 features detailed, DLC schedule confirmed

Everything you need to know about the upcoming strategy JRPG sequel

Hey, dood! It’s been a wild ride fighting against the Lost in the Netherworlds lately, but soon the tide will change with your help when Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance comes out on 9th October on PlayStation 4!

Everyone’s out for revenge against Void Dark these days, especially Killia and Madam Seraphina, and we need all the buffs we can get. Thankfully, Madam Seraphina’s pocket Netherworld is packed with new features, such as the Curry Shop and Netherworld Editor that will help with temporary boosts.

The Curry Shop is a new facility on the base where you can create different types of curries, which will give the squad temporary effects that last about one battle. Most of these recipes will give boosts in stats, but not all are good! Some can have a negative effect and are even poisonous!

When your squad isn’t out fighting the good fight, you can deploy some of your recruits to explore the other Netherworlds through the Nether Research Squad. While they’re off researching the Netherworlds, they’ll be unlocking new worlds to visit, finding rare items in other worlds to bring back and gaining experience for your squad members as they’re off exploring. These new Netherworlds will sometimes have special world effects, such as Icic-Hell’s snowy world that lowers all characters’ fire resistance. But don’t fret – you can override these Netherworld effects with the Netherworld Editor!

This new feature allows you to create new Netherworlds for other people to encounter and play, and if one of the worlds is summoned while you’re in a map, the summoned Netherworld effects will override the effects of the current world. That’s Prinny cool, right?

“But what about the items?” you ask! With the new Alchemist feature, you can have items created for you while you’re off to battle! Create a brand new item and add Innocents to power up each copy. Don’t have enough innocents for your plentiful supply of items? The Innocent Shop can help with that; this shop acts like a warehouse to hold all your precious Innocents while breeding new ones at the Innocent Farm out back. Sometimes if you leave two Innocents alone together at the Innocent Farm, a third will appear with more rare and powerful effects!

Still not enough content for you? Not to worry, NIS America will be releasing five batches of DLC which allows you to encounter the characters from Disgaea 3, Disgaea 4 and Disgaea D2 in various Netherworlds, as well as other games like La Pucelle! These batches will be released each week following the release of Disgaea 5 and include the following:

Excited to play this!
Any clue on how much the season pass will be?

I’ve played quite a few Disgaea games in the past, and was eager to play one on PS4, but seriously, how long can you wait? It was out outside of Western world for a very long time now, Japanese have been streaming it for who knows how long, and honestly, it seems it kinda boring old news by now.

it all comes back on the last week or two unless you spoiled yourself to death, that would be on you, really looking forward to getting the game and i didnt saw any videos so far

Season Pass + lack of full version with all DLC included on Vita is bad news.

Sorry. I love you NISA but most probably I won’t be buying any DLC unless those will be on sale (and DLCs nearly never are on sales)…

Ow well… might as well wait for some kind of definitive edition :/

Anyway

All Hail NISA the King of Europe.

Didn’t all the small dlcs for previous Disgaea cost over 100$ in total?

A bit saddened that it isn’t on the Vita this time around but I’m still looking forward to it with great excitement indeed :) Btw I asked before since my orders always arrive 1-2 days later than the date so does the NISA store send out at the same time to all without care for the logistical differences? Btw I’m in Sweden :)

i had the impression it was monthly dlc releases on japan, getting them weekly here is a good surprise as some people come in and get out before half the dlc are released, this way you can get more fun with the guys you love, with the season pass you can get disgaea d2 guys the day you start playing and use them on story mode so that is nice.

I’m so excited about Disgaea 5 on PS4.

Ah and lm not finished wiht D4 on Ps ViTaaaaa!!!!!!! Sooooo I will buy it and all dlc for a nice price on it lateronis!

well it’s been a long time since i seen NISA release a game with actually japanese dub included so i will be buying this. it’s kinda harder to look forward to their releases mainly cause most off their games are from the English dub Bias company ATLUS.

Going to buy this on release, but I say no to DLC. I rather get the return version on Vita with all the DLC included, like with previous Disgaea games.

Also any news regarding where can I pre-order D5 Day 1 edition?

Really looking forward to playing this! Always preferred Disgaea to things like Fire Emblem. Missed out on the last 2 games. But I like 5’s fresh start with new characters on a new console. Can’t wait :)

My Japanese Limited edition came at the weekend and so far I’m loving it, Can’t wait for the english release then do it all again =]

I have never played a non portable of Disgaea. Which is to say I have never bought any DLC but since there wont be a vita version I guess I wpill await pricing. Excited either way. Disgaea is, after all, the series that makes the combat in most of the final fantasy games look like it was designed for 5 year olds.
