A closer look at Media Molecule’s Dreams Paris Games Week demo

Alex Evans and Mark Healey talk us through their ambitious new PS4 project

Today we’re very excited to take you deeper into the world of Dreams, our new game for the PS4, and share more details with you all about how you’ll play in Dreams and how you’ll be able to create with it.

If you tuned into the PlayStation Paris Games Week press conference, you will have seen Creative Director Mark Healey and Technical Director Alex Evans up on stage demoing Dreams LIVE for the first time ever.

During the demo, we showed you a first-look at some of the gameplay you can experience in Dreams, along with a sneak peek at live multiplayer working in the game. We also delved into some of the incredibly beautiful and unique worlds and characters that can be created and shared within the game.

Before the show, we sat down with Mark and Alex for an in-depth discussion of the live Dreams demo in this special ‘Director’s Cut’ film! Who is this Imp character we’ve seen and what does it do? And what exactly will the gameplay involve once you start Dreaming? All the answers you seek are in this video…

We’ll be revealing plenty more in the coming months so make sure you follow us on Facebook and Twitter to stay up to date with all the latest Dreams news.

This game will be great for therapy. I’m sure Anne from Little Britain will concur… Can’t WAIT!

Wasn’t sure on this at first but you’ve sold it to me now. Game looks crazy ambitious, and considering how ahead of it’s time Little big planet was I’m confident this is gonna be something special too

Fun presentation. Always enjoy their games with their own sense of charm and wit. This looks like I might actually get to enjoy the creating aspect of the game, as that was still a bit too complex for me in LBP to really get something out of it :p Can’t wait for this!

Looks great :)

I hope i’ll be able to use PlayStation Move for this as your original PS4 tech demo showed.

his game confuses me, i saw them present it at the conference and he kept saying you could do anything you wanted… but all i saw on screen were semi scripted scenarios and preselected tools (the trees and the house)…. am i missing something?

ignore that, just rewatched it when it wasn’t 4.30am and it makes sense now!

This reminds me of the game weird dreams (Amiga), strange and eerie, yet I dont think its meant to be, the way that mouse moves around with its oddly shaped potato head like it doesn’t have the energy to hold itself up………I like it!
