mention the UK prices as well fam..

    NorthernFusion 27 November, 2015 @ 9:42 am

    Say no more.

    Last-Rapture 27 November, 2015 @ 12:14 pm

I don’t think the blog lists £ prices as UK customers will instantly see what a bad joke these sales are. At least by listing things in € they can keep the mystery alive and trick someone into thinking its a good deal.

Don’t forget there are other currencies in Europe to,

    lek
    dram
    manat
    ruble
    lev mark kuna
    koruna
    krone
    lari
    forint
    franc
    denar
    leu
    zloty
    dinar
    lira
    hryvnia

we convert it to our currency, how difficult is it?

Very good sale with lots of appealing prices, not buying anything this year as Fallout will keep me occupied beyond Christmas but I’m sure others will be pleased!

    Last-Rapture 27 November, 2015 @ 12:17 pm

I’m not buying anything this year either, mainly because I’ve got all the games I wanted for far cheaper at retail than what’s being “offered” here. C’mon Sony, more “for the players” and less “for the greed”.

kingade123 27 November, 2015 @ 9:14 am   3

Don’t forget you cover the UK too. Can we have the UK prices added please?

Syndicate must’ve sold so badly that it is already on sale. Good job people voting with your wallets. Don’t let publishers release buggy games, ubisoft will think twice before releasing another buggy game.

    weaselpipe 27 November, 2015 @ 9:39 am

    Like they did after Unity?

I actually liked Assassin’s Creed Unity. Looking at Black Friday deals at online retailers and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate isn’t offered in any of them.

Ubisoft isn’t the only company releasing broken games. It seems all western companies make that mistake because AAA games will sell well and that means thousands if not millions of free game testers.

    Carnivius_Prime 27 November, 2015 @ 12:27 pm

I think buyers of Batman: Arkham Knight on PC would say you AC: Unity players still got something resembling a somewhat playable game at least. 😛

cognac-vsop 27 November, 2015 @ 9:16 am   5

is the sale live yet? i need to check it out in the store.. i can’t deal with converting these euro prices..

I love Sony but a lot of the prices are a joke compared to the US flash sale that is currently on (and started way before our sale for some reason) so I will be buying from a US account.
Hopefully you guys are saving the good stuff for the Xmas sales as this isn’t that good when comparing bang for buck with other regions.

Don’t forget the 10% off basket code they also have 🙂

    Final_Echo 27 November, 2015 @ 10:50 am

The US is one country with relatively few pricing regulations (retailers can sell diapers below cost and at a loss) and one pricing structure for customs It only has to support 3 languages for the entire North American continent. All These factors lead to more consumer friendly pricing.

Europe is a hodgepode of countries with a plethera of anti-competition pricing regulations and a complex custom’s structure. Language translation for the PAL Region also makes the cost of games more expensive in Europe. Considering Sony has to make sure its sales comply with every countries regulations, I’m surprised they can have sales at all.

@Final_Echo The problem here is that Sony doesn’t go the extra mile for the europe (and correct me if i’m wrong but it is their biggest market), sure, you can argue that it’s black friday, an american tradition but when it comes to promotions the US always get the upper hand (10% off discount code, spend $100 get $15 back, flash sales, etc).

Besides, how does Steam gets away with it? From what i can tell, besides the whole 1$ = 1£ = 1€ (in some cases) they still have the same discounts between EU and US and not the price disparity that we see on PSN (ex: The Witcher 3 = 35€ / $25 on PSN but on Steam it’s 30€ / $30).

Dunno, i get that feeling that we (europeans) are being taken for granted so they don’t have to make any effort…

so now not only have we got to work the discounts out, we have to use an exchange rate website too
good to see all the money we put sonys way is being put to good use

You missed out one of the better ones – Final Fantasy X/X2 HD (PS4) £20.

And because they were lazy to put this up, lots of people who would’ve bought this would have missed it by the time this sale ends.. Sony should hire me for the listing job, won’t be poor and lazy like this effort.

    SatoshiOokami 30 November, 2015 @ 11:19 am

    Too Japanese I would presume.

Not bad at all. Bring on diablo, steins gate, curry god, dmc, killzone and sonic 4.

cognac-vsop 27 November, 2015 @ 9:18 am   10

just checked.. the sale is live on ps4.

Hyperdimension Neptunia rebirth or not? That’s the question!

if you have a pc, all 3 can be got for twenty quid on steam, i nearly bought it on ps3 but saw the steam deal, but if you dont have pc then its a good game at a good price

Thanks for the info! I do have a PC, but I want something for my Vita 🙂

no worries, the atelier games are good too if want an rpg for your vita

I have the ROrona plus, nice game but I disliked the time mechanic.

    SatoshiOokami 27 November, 2015 @ 7:02 pm

But Time Limitation is the defining feature for Atelier games :/

I can imagine it’s hard there’s no Pounds prices but come on. Just visit the store or do the simple Euro > Pound equation.

why should anyone have to, sony should be doing these deals properly and they are getting worse.
They have gone from showing prices after discounts to not even showing currency now
If your happy to let sony continue to provide a poorer and poorer service then thats your choice but most people are getting fed up

You think that a EUR to GBP conversion would actually work? 😉 They don’t seem to roll that way.

I’d suggest going to Psprices.com to see a full list, since it is too much effort for the blog staff.

    Harrisown 27 November, 2015 @ 9:19 pm

We could join the euro, that might be easier lol

cognac-vsop 27 November, 2015 @ 9:24 am   13

think drive club price on the store is showing wrong.. anyways, nothing for me. a lot of these prices are still way 2 high and i’ve gotten a lot of these games on disc for a lot cheaper.

Other currencies would be appreciated, and it would be helpful to know which platform these are on.

cognac-vsop 27 November, 2015 @ 9:26 am   15

does the drive club full game + season pass bundle include the bikes?

Nope, the season pass covers everything that has been released up to July 2015, which is already quite a lot. But not Bikes.

paul-p1988 27 November, 2015 @ 9:27 am   16

Samurai Warriors 4 PS4 is on sale but not mentioned here, down to £27.49 for PS plus users. Picked up that and The Witcher 3, good deals on both!

Also, is there any way I can buy Rocket League even though I got it on plus? I want it forever so want to actually buy the game but it just says I’m not eligible to purchase this….

Yeah, I was really happy about the Witcher’s price drop, but then I saw the price on US psn, which is exactly the same amount, but in $, considering conversion rate it’s around 16-17 quid -_-

Seriously considering investing in US psn account, when considering the fact I’m fan of digital content and UK’s digitals are way overpriced in comparison to physical copies…

Resonance of Fate is not showing up at the discount price on the store! 🙁

US has a much greater selection. Still going with the ol’ $ = £ thing as well I see 🙁

E.g Destiny, $35, £35. £35 = £23. Even with tax, the maths don’t add up.

It’s bizarre. Some of the discounts are odd numbers too – e.g. AC:Syndicate 40% off there, only 36% off here, which just happens to line the prices up at $35=£35. It’s almost like it’s deliberate.

Taking the US price, converting to GBP, and adding the VAT should bring it to £28, so UK customers are now being overcharged by a full 25% as much again on the US price.

I’d love to know the thought process that goes into a decision like that – do they really think no-one will notice?

    SwissColony 27 November, 2015 @ 1:32 pm

it doesn’t add up because you aren’t comparing properly. Read this:

    http://www.kotaku.co.uk/2015/09/30/why-you-pay-what-you-pay-for-video-games

Welcome back. It boils down to the fact that US prices don’t include VAT as that’s added at the point of sale. Knock 20% off the UK price, take an actual exchange rate (one you would get for changing your £ to US$, not a representative one from xe.com) and see how the prices compare.

Sadly Swiss colony, the maths still doesn’t add up.

£35 will buy you $50 at a travel agent. (1.47). 20% on top of $35 is $42. So where is this additional $8 coming from? This additional 20%?

    The__Ewan 27 November, 2015 @ 2:57 pm

SwissColony – I did add the VAT, that’s why I said I added the VAT.

Perhaps you’d like to work through the figures yourself? Take the US price, convert to Sterling, and add twenty percent.

Now, have you reached the price that the store shows in pounds?

    SwissColony 27 November, 2015 @ 4:16 pm

You are still doing it wrong. Hands up who actually read the article I linked? US sales tax is different to UK VAT. You cannot compare after tax prices.

    UK pre-tax = £28, US pretax = $35.
£28 = $40 (at the exchange rate given by Tee-doff) difference of $5, or £3.40.

So yes, we do may more, but it isn’t as exorbitant as you think. Bear in mind the US minimum wage is $7.25 (source wikipaedia) and ours is $9.85, goods and services should cost more here.

UK pre-tax would be closer to to £29.15, not £28. You add tax at 20% on the base price.

So that is closer to $43 than $40… So, as I said, $8 difference or £5.44.

So the question remains… Why are we paying $8 more even after accounting for tax?

This is also ignoring the 10% voucher code that we didn’t get, which adds another $3.5 to the equation. That makes it $11.5 more, or £7.80….

Obviously where the vales aren’t equal it does kind of work out, but in the case of Minecraft story mode, Destiny and the Witcher 3 it is well out.

    The__Ewan 27 November, 2015 @ 5:51 pm

“US sales tax is different to UK VAT”

In PSN terms, US sales tax doesn’t meaningfully exist – you see $35 on the store, you pay $35 – the US price as listed on the store is essentially the price without tax. So, the converting the currency and adding the UK tax on top is actually correct – if the ‘base’ prices were the same, then the difference in the store prices would be entirely due to the UK one including VAT. Actually the difference is bigger than that.

Doing it your way round you can start off at the UK price of £35.19, remove the VAT which brings you to £29.33, then convert that to US dollars, which (per Google) is $44.09 and per Tee_Doff’s rate is $43.11. In either case, rather more than the real US price of $35.00. Now, you might argue that a nine dollar difference isn’t that big, but it is pretty much 25% of the US price, so it’s actually a pretty hefty fraction even if the absolute figure isn’t that big.

Fundamentally this isn’t (for me) a matter of its being ‘too expensive’, it’s a matter of having the [DELETED] taken.

    SwissColony 27 November, 2015 @ 6:13 pm

There are all manner of things that can cause games in one territory to cost more than another – import, manufacturing, marketing etc. Submission through SCEA rather than SCEE.

More significantly, cost of living changes from country to country. My point about the minimum wage comparison – you may pay 40% of your salary in rent, rent is cheaper in the US but they may pay the same proportion. It looks cheaper to you, but it’s not cheaper to them.

OK, yes my figures were little off. The point I’m making is it’s incongruous to compare the displayed price in pounds to those in dollars. It’s not that we pay £35 and the US pay $35 and we’re getting totally ripped off. I will concede that we are getting a little ripped off though.

    CluckNuggets 28 November, 2015 @ 2:58 am

It says right in the article “I was unable to get a single UK retailer or publisher to comment on the record for this article” so that means more made-up garbage from Kotaku.

Quantity does not make up for Quality. I’d rather have less titles at better prices.

And why are you now saying £1=$1 on things like the witcher 3 and minecraft story mode? It is appalling.

The US also got a 10% off voucher, for use on anything, so not only did you stealh increase the Bloodborne DLC price, but not the US players can get it at $18, which is less than the £11.99 it was announced at(!!!!!) unbelievable.

QuinlanLJ 27 November, 2015 @ 9:39 am   22

Just as it was starting to get interesting, it finished. Meh, nothing for me I guess. And yeah, ‘Murican players paying less for games is just not cool. They have a higher living standard and get games cheaper? Does that sound right to you?

    Carnivius_Prime 27 November, 2015 @ 12:29 pm

yeeeah but…but… um… they gotta live with fear everyday of being shot by their own kids? I dunno.

Haha, but! Now or soon, we’ll have to live with fear everyday that we will get blown up by a terrorist because … 😀

There are some great Vita sales. However I don’t understand how ‘muricans pay 6$ for Hyperdimension Neptunia ReBirth1 and we have to pay 12€… oh well.

Yup. Same thing happened in the past, with the US getting most HDN titles for $6-$18, whereas it was €18-€28 for the same games in the EU…

    crimsonidol-de 27 November, 2015 @ 12:21 pm

Do yourself a favor and don’t look at the Steam-sales. There you can grab the games for even less. =(
Steam > US PSN > EU PSN savings-wise.

Danterikxx 27 November, 2015 @ 9:43 am   24

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate- 45€. 35$ on USA
The Witcher 3- 35€. 25$ on USA
GTA V- 41€, 36$ on USA

We deserve more than this. Why do they always get the best prices, the best services and now the best discounts?

“Massive savings?” Where?????

Make it up with the 12 Christmas Deals.

Don’t you mean the ’12 Christmas Disappointments’ if last year was anything to go by 🙂

INS1GHTFUL 27 November, 2015 @ 9:43 am   25

nice sale. Im very tempted by Tales from the Borderlands

    chrisboers 27 November, 2015 @ 11:03 am

Make sure you buy the episodes seperately, not the season pass. Episode 1 is free, so that’s a 20% extra discount!

DRIVECLUB Full Game for PlayStation Plus & Season Pass Bundle
35% off original price
Was €19.99
Now €12.99

Still shows as 19.99 in PS Store

CatchYaDeath 27 November, 2015 @ 9:48 am   27

So not only do the US get a far better sale, they also get a code for an extra 10% off the basket total !?!? Seriously I’ve been waiting for The Order to drop and it’s still £44.99 and yet the US get it for $10…….

Romero_Carpenter 27 November, 2015 @ 9:52 am   28

With all the stories on how crazy Black Friday sales are in the states, when I heard a Black Friday sale might be coming to european customers for the PSN store I thought I was in for some “Massive Savings”.
Boy was I surprised :o/

‘DRIVECLUB Full Game for PlayStation Plus & Season Pass Bundle’ price hasn’t changed, still shows the £15.99 it was before.

This sale more than makes up for the poor Plus showing, I honestly want more games than I can afford, great job!

Yeah DRIVECLUB priced unchanged in ZA (linked to EU) store as well.

Funny enough, Vita sales are the best out of these. Guess it’s time to give Neptunia/Atelier series a try. And grab some Hatsune Miku goodies. And Danganronpa Another Episode. Domo~

madmanwithabox12 27 November, 2015 @ 10:19 am   33

Persona 4 Golden is £10. Buy it. GTA Chinatown Wars is £2.75, no excuse not to.

TehPunizher 27 November, 2015 @ 10:23 am   34

Black Friday and Cyber Monday Sales should be something worth having a MASSIVE discount, this “discounts” just seem a poor attempt and looks like a everyday sale not a BLACK FRIDAY SALE… #4theplayers 😉

Stonesthrow 27 November, 2015 @ 10:23 am   35

Just picked me up the Back to the Future 30th anniversary edition! Nothing much else for me here but I’ll get the Fallout 3 and New Vegas bundles for ps3 in the DLC sales too.

Some decent sales, but the duration of them is disappointing. I don’t get paid until the start of the month, so it looks like I’m leaving this one empty-handed!

ummagummachild 27 November, 2015 @ 10:56 am   37

Superb deals. After a disappointing PS+, its a nice fresh wiff of air. Being a vita owner, i js loved some of the deal, though i already have many games sittin untouched, i am still gonaa buy 2-3 more…n yes Playstation grear deals are also awesome. Its a ps feast for me now…thnx sony, chris…

STEVIE-BOY-711 27 November, 2015 @ 11:02 am   38

Does the uk have a discount code to put in at checkout like the u.s?

    Hahaha

    Hahaha

    Hahaha

    SatoshiOokami 27 November, 2015 @ 7:11 pm

I actually want to know for sure if I should wait with purchase ’till the code appears (since apparently each country has to have a special as was the case in the previous 10% off code) or I should buy things now.

chrisboers 27 November, 2015 @ 11:06 am   39

Anyone interested in Tales of the Borderlands or Game of Thrones: Make sure you buy the episodes seperately, as the episodes are 2 Euros, season pass is 5×2= 10 Euros, BUT episode 1 is free!
So, buying the episodes seperately is only 4×2 = 8 Euros (Jay, another 20% discount!)

    ste_the_legend 27 November, 2015 @ 11:38 am

Good thinking. Shows how little thought has gone on the pricing.

That would be true, but in the UK the final episode of both games is still at full price (3.99) so the season pass is the cheapest option. Game of Thrones works out at £10.39 individually (£8.00 for the pass) and Borderlands is £8.79 individually (£6.40 for the pass).

Thank you for the sale 🙂 Got myself Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA f and Ys: Memories of Celceta

crimsonidol-de 27 November, 2015 @ 11:08 am   41

DriveClub + Season Pass for ~13 euros? Count me in. I still don’t know if I will like it, but I will give it a try. =)

Flipside666 27 November, 2015 @ 11:28 am   42

Nothing there for me, I was hoping costume quest 2 on ps4 and Tembo the badass elephant was gunna show up in this sale, or any sale! 🙁

Flipside666 27 November, 2015 @ 11:29 am   43

And the lack of UK prices is sssslllllaaaaack!

I can’t purchase, I can’t add funds, it’s say my credit card info is wrong, but my credit card info is ok. I use it a lot, I try other cards and still can’t purchase. Did someone have the same problem? Where I can contact support?

    Flipside666 27 November, 2015 @ 11:32 am

Loads of ppeopl are having this problem, they know but haven’t sorted it! Best you can do is buy a pre paid card.

    Flipside666 27 November, 2015 @ 11:32 am

Similar issues around here. Error 500 at checkout, featuring what appears to be Japanese text and an English message while most of the store text is in Polish.

    Flipside666 27 November, 2015 @ 12:17 pm

Same just happened to me, I signed out the store then back in and the transaction worked, maybe give that a try, or delete you card then add it again maybe.

@Flipside666, it doesn’t help for me. Strange is that it make successful card authentication in my bank account with GBP 0.10 every time I try.

    Flipside666 27 November, 2015 @ 12:37 pm

Have you got PayPal, maybe add funds that way?

    DC_Cha_Cha_Cha 27 November, 2015 @ 2:09 pm

I’ve been trying off and on all day to make a purchase on the store via PC website. If I select CHECK OUT, I get an error message asking me to try again later (tried 30+ times now). If I go to Account Settings, I get a server error in Japanese. On Android App, I can get into Account settings, but it won’t let me use my credit card to add funds. A card, that is used all of the time on PSN. If I delete my CC, and try to add funds via PayPal, it won’t let me do that, either, Ridiculous.

This is a frequent and very frustrating bug that Sony have not fixed yet.

Where? Where do you see good sale for vita?

Driveclub isn’t working properly for me as I already claimed the PSPlus version.

It says that the game + season pass is unavailable, only leaving me with the ps plus upgrade for £11.99

Will this be fixed?

    TheDaftTool 27 November, 2015 @ 11:57 am

windy-m If you already own the game the season pass should be available for £5.

I meant I’ve only got the PS plus version, not the upgrade, so my only option is to purchase the upgrade to the full game, which is £11.99.

The problem is that if I do that, I’d then have to pay for the season pass on top of that, which if it’s £5, I’d have to pay £16.99 for something that’s £15.99 even before the sale.

    TheDaftTool 27 November, 2015 @ 1:16 pm

Ah right, I misread and thought you had already upgraded from Plus to full version. My bad

    @Chris,

Is this something that will be fixed prior to the end of this sale?

    @Chris,

Any chance of at acknowledging that this is an issue? Or whether it will or wont be fixed before the deal ends?

ste_the_legend 27 November, 2015 @ 11:40 am   47

I bought the retail version of Driveclub yesterday but if they sort out the pricing for the season pass bundle for the UK on here then looks like I’ll be selling the disc!

Not surprised anymore by the inadequate level of Sony Eur discounts when compared to what the US offer in their sales. Until Sony US and Xbox as well bite the bullet and increase the recommended retail price of new release triple A games (from the current $60 to a more realistic $70-75) and adjust DLC pricing in general, Sony Eur/Aus/NZ and other territories will continue to pick up the shortfall and subsidise the US games market through higher overall pricing and less discounting. Plain and simple.

OldHorn666 27 November, 2015 @ 12:13 pm   49

So, King’s Quest chapter 1 is a part of next months Plus games. Full game is a part of this sale. Nice. And stupid.

Nothing for me in here. Going to get games from US Store. Better prices, once again.

Carnivius_Prime 27 November, 2015 @ 12:21 pm   50

Went with Transformers: Devastation PS4 for £20 (well, £18 with a discounted PSN voucher). Not a big fan of the cartoon, preferring the movies myself, but it’s colourful, fastpaced, with lots of smashy action so yeah pretty happy with my purchase. Thanks for the sale! 🙂
