Senran Kagura Estival Versus launches today on PS4 & PS Vita

Everything you need to know about the fan-favourite manga beat ‘em up

Hello everyone, I am Kenichiro Takaki, a producer from Marvelous. Today, I am really happy to announce the long-awaited launch of Senran Kagura Estival Versus!

The game features new, charming characters and a plot that sees the shinobi transported to a strange paradise by a mysterious phenomenon to participate in an eight-day battle where the stakes are really high.

Compared to Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, the models and animations of the characters have been greatly improved, although of course the whole story is still packed with sexiness. Another big improvement is the upgraded Dressing Room, which allows you to customise the characters’ look with unprecedented freedom.

The Senran Kagura series was born in Japan as a very small project, but I’ve found, to my surprise, that many fans around the world love the games. I really appreciate all your support for Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus, Senran Kagura Bon Appétit and Senran Kagura 2: Deep Crimson.

In Japan, handheld systems are very popular, but I wanted to bring the series to European fans so they can also enjoy the games and to show my appreciation for their support. That’s why we have decided to release Senran Kagura Estival Versusfor home consoles. At the same time, we’ve also tried to shorten the gap between the Japanese release and the Western release as much as possible. I’m really confident that both objectives have been achieved, and if a new title comes out in the future, the gap will be much shorter.

I am looking forward to everyone enjoying the sensual and magnificent action in both big screens and handheld systems. I hope that a lot of players will reach the end of summer in the game, and that they will remember this adventure when summer comes again. Last but not least, I am sure that all our fans will appreciate the Creative Finishers that can be found around the different stages!

Thanks for reading!

Thanks for releasing this in the west. I’ve been playing it for a bit now, it runs smooth and it is absolutely gorgeous. Also, best reversible cover ever (^_^;)

I hope that they release the series on the Saudi store, we do have GTA V / GoW here so it’s not a matter of content.

I started playing my copy last night! Thank you for making this game! It’s a shame the story seems like a side-story, but who am I kidding, I bought this game mostly for the body pillow anyway. Hahaha!

Could someone tell me what the difference is between the PS4 and Vita versions? I find it odd that one is 10 euros cheaper than the other.

Tips for upcoming releases: more “automatic” cutscenes please. For some reason Japanese titles often force players to press X to advance dialogue, that’s not something we’re used to here nor are we fond of it. At least I’m not.

Speak for yourself, I really hate automatic cutscenes! There’s an auto button in this game, and I accidentally pushed it, and missed out several lines of dialogue before I worked out how to switch it off again!

Just hit Triangle, that puts it into “auto” mode.

my dear, you live in a bubble. this feature usually alows much more content to be transmitted, than a regular cutscene, thus is a staple in RPGs, both western and eastern. it is just that west is obsessed with “cinematic experience”, which this is not, while east adopted this outside RPGs more commonly.

Love the game a lot, but there is a cropping issue, at least in my setup. I am losing pixels on the edges of the screen and text is getting cutoff and it just looks… wrong. PS4 display settings are set to the edges of my screen, though this does not seem to make a difference in-game since when I set to the smallest size possible, things were still getting sheered off.

Please patch with the ability to scale the display size so I can play it as it was intended!

And please allow the option to disable subtitles in-game. I know by now that it’s a “Shinobi transformation,” I really don’t need to see subtitles across the screen unless it is a story cut-scene.

Thank you!

I have the same problem. The game doesn’t fit in my TV screen, it stretches out beyond the resolution of my TV, and yes my TV supports 1080p

Check if you have overscan enabled in your TV/monitor. You’ve been losing part of the image on all games if it was enabled. That should do the trick.

Thanks for releasing this in EU, Takaki-san! I also appreciate the gorgeous Limited Edition. Looking forward to see more Marvelous’ games coming to EU, like Valkyrie Drive.

Thank you for releasing this in Europe, righteous producer! The game is amazing and the limited edition is much appreciated. I find the cross save between PS4 and Vita versions very useful. The combat, humour, story, life and home town make a triumphant return from Shinovi Versus.

Best of luck with all your other projects Takaki-san! I’m sure you have a dedicated fanbase (myself included) in the West that will support you in all your endeavours.

Wow, it’s R18+ in Australia! Good job getting it released here.

This is for those players. PS4 for those players.

I’ve laught alot (especially Ryobis story, I’m also big fan of her CV Hikasa Yoko)
Controls and combos are very simple (controls/combos of Valkyrie Drive wasn’t as easy as in SK)
