Uncharted 4 multiplayer Plunder Mode revealed

The much-loved mode returns – but with a few twists on the formula

If you’re headed to PAX East this weekend, you are in for a treat! Uncharted 4 multiplayer will be playable in the PlayStation booth all weekend and you’ll be the first to try out an unrevealed game mode — Plunder.

If you haven’t played it in Uncharted 2 or Uncharted 3 — for shame. Plunder is a Capture the Flag-type game mode but with an Uncharted twist — you can throw the idol (AKA flag)!

Great teamwork is key to winning the match as you’re tasked with finding the idol on the map and bringing it to your home treasure chest. Plunder will be playable on the three maps you’ve seen in the Uncharted 4 beta — Island, Madagascar City, and Rooftops.

For those familiar with the classic Plunder game type, we’ve made a few updates. In previous Uncharted games, people carrying the idol could not traverse with it; we removed this constraint. Also, Plunder has been a five-on-five experience in the past; we changed that to four vs. four. No doubt this may cause shortness of breath for fans of the mode, but worry not! Given the number of mechanics that have been introduced into our multiplayer’s moment-to-moment gameplay, Plunder at four vs. four is perfect and we hope fans that experience this mode at PAX East feel the same.

We still have so much to share with our fans that have been waiting a long time to hear more about multiplayer. The reveal of Plunder is just another piece. Let me assure you, what we will be revealing soon after PAX East will please a lot of people.

Will it have co-op missions like Uncharted 2 & 3?

Yes

1.2

Probably not. They announced back in November that co-op was not planned in the foreseeable future.

1.3

Been wondering about that since reveal. Someone on the blog here told me he played the beta and said there was co op but I have seen nothing to support that statement. No co op would be a major downside for me as I don’t enjoy multiplayer, so there will be virtually no replay value for me without co op..

“If you haven’t played it in Uncharted 2 or Uncharted 3 – for shame”

maybe if you guys weren’t such cheapskates by removing the multiplayer from the Uncharted collection people would have been able to try it.

Hahahaha jesus

Removal of the multiplayer was what made it great. It was irrelevant.

Ah looks awesome. Loved the betas but there were team deathmatch only so have been eagerly awaiting news of the other popular modes returning from U2/U3 and this looks great. :)

Dont often played Plunder, but loved Three Team Deathmatch. Elimination was good to, but i think this game needs a kill confirmed type of game mode.

Still no sign of the Triple Pack DLC on the UK store despite it being available for pre-order in North America. It blows my mind that I’m being loyal enough to pre-order the base game (from Amazon because I prefer physical) but can’t the pre-order the DLC (or even learn the price) thanks to such divisive marketing and launch plans. This just doesn’t happen on Steam.
