Gravity Rush 2 will now launch on 18th January 2017

Upcoming premium story DLC will now be free to download

In July, we announced a release date for Gravity Rush 2 that we felt most appropriate for the title. Since then, though production is proceeding smoothly, the landscape for that release date has changed dramatically.

Gravity Rush 2 is the conclusion of Kat’s journey, so we want players to have enough time to dive deep into her story. In addition, as a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time. Thus, after careful deliberation, we have decided to change the release date. Gravity Rush 2 will now launch on 18th January 2017 in Europe and 20th January in the UK.

I would like to apologise to all those players anxiously awaiting Gravity Rush 2. After four years of development making a title we are very proud of, we want to release it at the very best time.

In exchange for the longer wait, we have decided to release the premium DLC planned for the title free of charge. This additional story will take place in the world of Gravity Rush 2, and we think fans will have a lot of fun playing through it.

As we move into the holiday season and the New Year, we have many more exciting things in store, including more information about the title and the special animated feature. Please keep an eye out for more on Gravity Rush 2, and thank you again for all your support.

Aww… Ah well.

Am I the only one that is actually happy when games are delayed? One, the game will be better (scared to imagine NMS being released without delays…) and two, I’ll be able to finish the first one (so many games, so little time to play them).

Agreed. Plus free dlc.

Another delay! Only two of the five promised aaa exclusives for 2016 actually were (or will be) released in 2016. Good for them that they delayed UC4 from 2015 to 2016….

Aleast Sony now has some exclusive games for 2017…which probably means that we won’t be seeing any of the newly announced games until 2018. They really should stop announcing exclusive titles several years before they release.

Despite the delay I’m really looking forward to GR2 and releasing the DLC for free is a nice move.

Pretty much every big game Sony has had on PS4 has had a big delay.

It’s becoming the norm.

As long as horizon doesn’t get pushed from Feb I’ll be happy

Well, they have to make them better for the new Playstation Pro so everyone will be jealous and upgrade.

Ah well…it’s understandable. AS Toyama-san said. The Landscape to release it was rather hostile.

Well, at least this time it is not an “An update on [insert game name here].”.

haha, that is so true. Much prefer this to the “update” :D

ahhh.. Delaystation.. Sony does too much heartpain for us..

I have no problem with a delay. Street fighter 5 was a joke when released. In that case it kinda seemed dumb. I love the series and considered a day one purchase. Instead I waited for the full content to be released and picked up the game at 60 odd perecent off.

I think a far better apology for the delay (and for abandoning the IP’s original platform) would be launching a DLC campaign for the first game on Vita. That would certainly help sweeten the bitter taste left in this gamers mouth!

Put the first on sale pls

They already did. Several times.

How about a proper sale… rather than just dropping the price so it’s close (but still more) than the US price?

Any news on a collector’s edition containing the animation blu ray, or the crystal edition that Japan gets?

I just want another Kat scale figure….

Sadly, there will be no CE for the west. The collectors edition is exclusive to Japan.

If we get a better experience, that will be ok.

They only said that they wanted to get out of the busy period, probably in fear of cannibalising sales and player base when releasing next to Final Fantasy and Last Guardian. I think the game is very much done. Heck, I played a pretty comprehensive build at gamescom.

11.2

I’m pretty sure the PS4 Pro will… that’s probably it.

Every game has been delayed this year, why did I take two weeks off for this? Jokes on me I guess.

12.1

Rise of Tomb Raider, BF1, World of FF, Titanfall 2, COD, Dishonored 2, Watch dogs 2, FF15, Last Guardian,…
Plenty of releases dude, too many altogether maybe. I’m glad they delayed some so they can get some extra polish instead of ending up on the holiday backlog.

Whilst we are on the topic of delays, Rock Band 4 is a year old today…

Release dates are just dumb pr things anyway, doesn’t matter when a game comes out as long as it’s good, and I’m sure this will be!

Although unfortunate its understandable what with FFXV and The Last Guardian coming out around the same time.

Good to see its not delayed too long but I’m a little confused the new date is mid-January. Few will have any money then and be waiting for payday. Surely an end of month date would be more suitable.

Still good to know its on its way all the same.

This game could be released in 2020 and I’d still be super excited about it :) Awesome to hear about the free story-DLC too :D

Definitely a day-1 buy for me :)

Although im happy in some way that games get delayed as I would rather play a full game rather than a rushed one. But recently games that have had delays still have a plague of problems, just wish devs would stop giving out unrealistic dates that they cant meet

Ayyye now also in my birth month with Kingdom Hearts!

Good choice. There are too games releasing in this period and this underrated jewel would fly right under the radar of most people. This way it might get some more exposure and people are more willing to pick it up in a slower period with less releases. Extra polish is always nice and free DLC is a lovely gesture (the DLC in the first wasn’t that substantial or anything and very short so this is perfect). Not that this needed online features but take all the time you need :)

Happy about the delay actually. Releasing it in the same week as FF XV and one week before The Last Guardian, wasn’t very clever. Now I can play this game more relaxed and I even get free dlc. Win win situation.
