The King of Fighters ’94 hits PS4 tomorrow, more Neo Geo classics inbound

Metal Slug, Samurai Shodown, Alpha Mission II, Fatal Fury all due soon

Over the past three years, Hamster has released a wide variety of classic coin-op hits for PS4 in its Arcade Archives line-up, and we’re excited to reveal our new ACA Neo Geo series that brings SNK’s beloved games back into your living room.

Since its debut in 1990, the Neo Geo enthused video game fans from around the globe with games that were “bigger, badder, and better” than anything else in the arcade or at home… and you’ll finally have perfect conversions of some of these legendary titles.

The first game in the ACA Neo Geo series is The King of Fighters ’94, which launches 27th October on PS4!

The King of Fighters ’94 originally launched on Neo Geo way back in 1994, injecting new life into the fighting game genre by mixing popular characters from SNK’s Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Ikari Warriors franchises into one massive invitational hand-to-hand tournament.

TITLE

The King of Fighters ’94’s unique three-on-three battles and intricate special move systems had a massive impact on subsequent fighting games, and it gave birth to an ongoing saga that continues to this day with 2016’s amazing PS4 offering, The King of Fighters XIV.

The following games will launch in 2016:*

  • Metal Slug
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Alpha Mission II
  • Fatal Fury
  • World Heroes

TITLE

And the following games will arrive in early 2017:*

  • Neo Turf Masters
  • Nam-1975

TITLE

Hamster will continue to work closely with SNK Playmore to not only choose games in the most famous franchises, but also to shed light on some cult classics and hidden gems. Stay tuned for more on the ACA Neo Geo line-up!

Vita ports please.

Will I need to pay again for the Neo Geo games I bought on PS3?

I’d like to know this too. I’m seriously over having to buy the same damn games over and over again.

Very cool, two Neo Geo games I would love to see are Pulstar and Blazing Star.

I’m very fond of what Hamster is doing with the Arcade Archives, but there are a couple of more arcade games I would like to see released for the PS4 very much, all fun excellent 2-player games.

Oh jeez, I would snap Midnight Resistance and Rod Land up in an INSTANT if they ever arrived on the Arcade Archives. Same with Rainbow Islands, Growl and the New Zealand Story. A load of arcade games that basically defined my childhood.

Amazing news!

Fatal Fury and Alpha Mission 2 are awesome games!

Please Sony, give me this game:

Michael Jackson Moonwalker – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jackson%27s_Moonwalker
Fatal Fury Special – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatal_Fury_Special
Shadow Dancer – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Dancer
Alien Storm – http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_detail.php?game_id=6856

If you release Twinkle StarSprites, Viewpoint and Trash Rally, I will instabuy.

We need Samurai Shodown II, which is possibly the greatest fighting game ever created!

What about the price?

Same old ones as usual which get released first and then the fad passes and we never get the rarer ones like Blazing Star and Sengoku 3. Also both Shock Troopers would be nice too (we got the first one on PS3)

Yeah, they are fantastic titles to remake…I await on DEF JAM first part of this game. It should appear on PS4
