Hitman’s PlayStation 4 season finale is available now

IO Interactive reflects on its bold new approach to the world of assassination

I can’t believe we’re finally here, at the Season Finale to an amazing journey for Hitman, for Io-Interactive, and I hope for all of you.

Agent 47 has arrived at a hyper-exclusive hospital in Hokkaido, Japan for Episode 6 and you can play it from today. We’ll be watching livestreams, reading forums and scrolling through reviews of everything that we have released in this season with an incredible feeling of excitement and pride.

We took Agent 47 to 7 different cities on 4 continents and truly created a World of Assassination, which has been our ambition right from the start. Now we’re finally there. It’s a bit overwhelming when I look back on everything we’ve done to get here.

For the Season Finale we’re going to take you to Hokkaido, Japan with a mission called “Situs Inversus”. The term relates to a real-life medical condition where the heart and other organs of the body are on the opposite side to where they should be. Your main target suffers from this condition and has checked into the hyper-exclusive GAMA private hospital for life-saving surgery. As Agent 47, you must make sure that doesn’t happen, one way or another – and as always there are many ways! And this target is also going to close the story in a full circle that started back when Agent 47 joined the agency.

The GAMA hospital is a fusion of Japanese beauty and cutting-edge technology, featuring its own Zen gardens, organic sushi restaurant and traditional Japanese hot spring – so plenty for Agent 47 to get up to. It’s equally tranquil and clinical and a great environment to create some unique possibilities that you could only find in a Hitman game. Suffice to say, you’ll need your wits about you and also everything you’ve learnt in the previous episodes.

From when we first released our beta back in February, through to the release of our Season Finale today, it has been an incredible journey for us and for Agent 47 and I want to say a big thank you to all you players making this possible. Together we’ve built and run the biggest and most replayable locations of any Hitman game and added new live content every single week since launch.

We have continued to improve our Contracts mode and created Escalations in collaboration with you, included Challenges and Challenge Packs based on what you have pulled off, and seen equal measure of joy and heart-pounding tension whenever we feature one-time Elusive Target events. It’s been fantastic and although we have now completed this season, this is only the beginning for our ever expanding World of Assassination.

I will just wait for all the “seasons” to be out before I touch this. At what point did you think at E3 2015, when you announced this game, that it was going to launch FULLY in Winter 2015?????
You obviously had about 2 levels complete at that point. How did it take you months later to realise that you didn’t have a full game ready to go and then just butchered it up into parts instead with the first measly morsels STILL not ready for the Winter launch? I genuinely want to know. You completely lost a big Hitman fan with this mess.

You are the new Capcom, yeah I went there.

Waiting for all seasons? Really? I mean I understand waiting for all episodes. Im just curious: did you waited for Uncharted 4 until you touched Uncharted 1? Have you played God of War or are you still waiting until all of them are out? Are you still waiting for the last Final Fantasy game until you try them? How about gta? Can we play them now or should we wait for the next one? :-)
It is your decision to avoid a great game. But it kind of does not make sense. Be honest to yourself – do you always boycot a games that has sequels?

@Agarwel That’s a ridiculous reply. The games you mention are just that; full games. What they’ve done here is sell you a game level by level.

@Agarwel Smash_41 totally gets it. What you said doesn’t just “kind of does not make sense”, it 100% DOES not make any sense.

Like Smash_41 already explained, you are talking about completely different games in a franchise and you KNOW this. This newest Hitman game still isn’t fully finished yet and nobody still knows when it actually will be. And I did genuinely ask a question to the devs in my comment, feel free to go back and look at it but please don’t bother answering that for them because not even the most hardcore fan, that refuses to open their eyes to this botched release no matter what, can answer it but the devs themselves.

And here is a good one for you too. When The Witcher 3 launched and I heard there were going to be major expansions and then noticed all the serious glitches and problems with the game at launch, I did actually hold off buying it. I got the game in May 2016 when the 2 major expansions were out and by now most (not all) the problems were ironed out....

THERE is your example of “boycotting” a game as you put it and completely benefiting while doing so, just like with this latest Hitman game.
