Adventure Pop riffs on classic bubble shooters, out today on PS4

Hello, PlayStation faithful! My name is Mike Robles, Community Manager at 505 Games, and I’m here to give you an insider’s look into our super-explosive bubble shooter, Adventure Pop, which is now available to all PlayStation 4 players! So, ready your cannons and fire away with this free-to-play bubble shooter where players can experience a refreshing new take on a classic game genre.

What is Adventure Pop about?

Adventure Pop has a unique story mode set in a beautiful fantasy realm with a steampunk theme, complete with visually stunning locales floating high above the clouds.

But don’t be fooled by the utopian scenery, as players begin their journey – with Captain Penelope at the helm – they will encounter plenty of challenges along the way. Players can expand the main crew by progressing through the single player campaign to save Penelope’s friends from the villains and pirates.

You will encounter plenty of enemies and challenges throughout your adventure.

What makes Adventure Pop unique?

To start, players can jump straight into a multiplayer match to relive the classic arcade experience that defined the bubble shooter genre – that’s right, Adventure Pop features an awesome multiplayer option that lets you play local and online matches in real-time! Not only that, but when you save Penelope’s friends in story mode, you also unlock them as playable characters in multiplayer mode.

Considering each unlockable character has unique attributes and power ups, multiplayer mode will provide an explosive source of replay value as players adapt their gameplay style of choice.

Adventure Pop reintroduces the classic bubble shooter gameplay to console, which hasn’t felt much love in recent memory! At its core, Adventure Pop is easy to pick up but difficult to master, but we’re adding a modern twist with HD artwork and visuals.

Special power ups and unique abilities add replay value to multiplayer mode.

What are the inspirations behind Adventure Pop?

We grew up on classic bubble shooter games like Bubble Bobble, and seeing the bubble shooter genre make a comeback on mobile devices begged the question, “Hey, why aren’t there more bubble shooters on console?” If bubble shooters can make a resurgence on mobile, why not on the original platform that made the genre so popular? Better yet, why not create a free-to-play bubble shooter on console so everyone can enjoy it?

Naturally, our thought process evolved into an idea for a modern-day bubble shooter that combined classic gameplay, HD visuals, a multiplayer experience, and a dash of RPG elements to give us Adventure Pop. We continue to be inspired by our personal gaming experiences and what’s fun around us that would make for cool additions to the game. Stay tuned for new content with future updates!

As of January 31st, Adventure Pop is available for download as a free-to-play game on PlayStation 4. As a special offering, PlayStation Plus members will receive free Rainbow Bubbles, one of the most valuable power ups in the game! The free boosts will be allotted on a bi-weekly basis as a continued PlayStation Plus member.
