Gran Turismo Sport announces closed beta

Be the first to take to the tracks in Polyphony Digital’s upcoming PS4 racing sim

Hello GT fans! We are extremely excited at Polyphony to announce the Gran Turismo Sport closed beta. Beta participants will get a sneak peek at how the Gran Turismo will pave the future of racing, competing in highly competitive races against other users across the country, and eventually, across the globe.

Participants will be able to choose from a select rotation of cars and tracks each day to race online against others during the beta phases. Track and car selections will vary during this period, and we made sure to offer different race class categories and course configurations to properly test our GT fans!

This will also be the first time users will see how the Driver Profile is integrated within GT Sport. The introduction of Sportsmanship Rating (tracks a player’s behavior and manners on-track) and Driver Rating (represents the overall speed of the player and how well they perform in races) will ensure those that race online will be equally matched, naturally creating a balanced group of competitive drivers for every race.

The initial phase of the closed beta, starting on 17 March, will only be open to selected US PSN IDs. After this initial phase, the beta will be opened to European players.

As with most beta programs, in order for the development team to capture data in an optimal manner, the sample size needs to be increased gradually and in stages. While we begin to roll out the beta, we have decided that the time differences across the U.S. are best matched to the development team in Tokyo.

During the initial phase, our servers will be open for users during specific times across the day. We will share these times closer to the beta launch across our social channels and

As the beta begins to increase in size, those who have signed up or received a direct e-mail will be selected to participate in Phase 2 of the closed beta.

Spaces will be limited so, if you don’t get into Phase 2, make sure you stay tuned for future beta activities in the run-up to launch …

Please refer here to see a full list of beta Ts&C.

Why post this when it specifically excludes EU users?

I guess that typo, because beta sign-up link leads to EU server.

“The initial phase of the closed beta, starting on 17 March, will only be open to selected US PSN IDs.”

Initial. Phase.

Missed that line on first read… If it was there.

I wonder if there will be a VR mode as well in this beta. Would be pretty cool. I’m not expecting it though.

That game looks good im a gt fan myself and dont want to watch want to play

It will be available initially to SELECT players in the US only, then later OPENED to European players. Does that mean it’ll be available to non-select people later?

Also, would it be open to us Aussie players, or only US and EU?

I really hope so, I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile, signed up anyway,….in hope that it does come to us down under. We get linked to the Euro site and also on GT6, soooo maybe:)

After the 24 Minutes of Le Mans in GT6, the 4 Minutes of Nordschleife in GT Sport? You wouldn’t want to let down all those casual gamers, would you…

Yeah. Because only casual gamers have limited time to play games, hardcore gamers are all unemployed with no family and friends and have unlimited time to actually play a race for 24 hours……

Don’t get me wrong: I think it would be a good idea to include an option to play a 24hr race (for those who have the time and/or want to make use of this), but stating that #thisis4thecasualplayer is a bit insulting for fellow (non-casual) gamers if you ask me.

Thanks look forward to Open beta this is going to be the biggest game in the series .
Many thanks .

So its looks like this is going to be a Gran Turismo online with all this dailly challnges! Yeah good luck with that, Lag, bugs that the car go outside the race and don’t lose time, controller players vs wheell, really how to avoid that? people try to crash so don’t to actually race,. again there is penalty in all that?
I hope at least they have a good carieer mode like previous GT used to be with all that staff like weather, great looking cars in and out, engine sound effect, customization in and out (no only some stickers)

Awesome a beta i thought we really had to wait till the last day of 2017 but anyone agree that its kinda messed up “no disrespect” i thought this game was E for everyone i have a 13 year old friend that loves the GT sieries he was sad when he saw it was only for 18 years and older thats kinda messed up honestly :(

It’s a bit strange using time zones as a reason for using the US as a beta when this series is immensely popular in the European region.

I guess you could always create a US account to get around that though

Just make the ******* Game so the fan can play i hade to buy my self a ps3 and play gt6 wich is really odd cause im on ps4 since it out and waitinng for ever to play GT Sport … i got my simulator ready catching the dust it suck CANADA IS NOT IN BETA same hours in USA … [DELETED]

Im just aboute to sell the sick simulator i have cause im so [DELETED] off of the disrespect of POLYPHONY with pushing the game for a total of 4 years of waiting ????

THEY BETTER START GETTING READY FOR NEXT GEN OF PLAYSTATION … so when it out we can play a good racing game 4 years later ????

Chill out [DELETED]. It is a studios prerogative to release a game when they think it is ready not your entitlement to own it when you say. Believe me, I guarantee that you would be one of the first people to complain if it was broken or incomplete when released too early.

Yes im redy

Não recebi a beta :-(

why I have to be over 18? Please I have been waiting for this game for 2 years and I cant whait anymore. I am 14 and I practise every day for gt sport in gt6 and I just need the game PLEASE!!!!!

Does anyone know if they are continuing to send invites for the closed Beta after 3/17?? As in, every week or two weeks they’ll send more invites for US users?
I feel like they only sent invites on the 17th and are not going to send anymore until phase 2 for EU users.

They just sent me a code , sadly it didn’t work, I don’t know if its beacuse I’m in Meixco or like it said whenever I tried to redeem it “code not valid” :(

Only ppl with us psn have a working access… Dont think they will release beta for eu until near release date… Japan only wants ppl playing during there working hours for analesys …. 5 – 8 us day time. It’s during night time in eu…

I received an email saying welcome to the beta however i got no notification to download the beta. Any reason this is so?

Im in 2017 i wont to buy the game how ??????
