How to set up your smartphone or tablet to play That’s You! on PS4

A quick guide to what you need to do to join in with PS4's newly-released party game

Good news everyone! PlayLink’s first title, the multiplayer party game That’s You!, is now available on PlayStation Store (and if you’re a PS Plus member, you can get it at no added cost) and retail.

Letting up to six friends answer the important questions about life and each other (like “whose birthday party would attract the weirdest guests?”, or “who’d schedule every hour of your easy-going roadtrip?”) by using their smartphone or tablet with a PS4, it’s the perfect introduction to the new range of games releasing this summer, all under the PlayLink banner.

But how do you get set up to play? It’s quick and easy. Here’s our quick step guide.

  1. Purchase and/or download That’s You! onto your PS4 (obviously).
  2. Whoever wants to join in to play a game (That’s You! supports up to six players at one time) needs to download and install the free ‘That’s You!’ app. Android owners click here. iOS owners, you’re over here.*
  3. Connect your mobile to your PS4. You can do this one of two ways.
    • Connect to the same wi-fi network as your PS4 console (go to Settings < Network < View Connection Status and check the SSID option to confirm the network name).
    • [Update for clarifcation] You won’t see this SSID option if your PS4 is connected to your local network via a LAN cable. In this case, just make sure your mobile devices are connected to the same router – the SSID is usually on a sticker attached to your router.
    • Use your PS4 as a wi-fi hotspot**. Start That’s You on your PS4, and while on the main menu press the OPTIONS button on your DualShock4 controller. Select Wi-Fi hotspot < Yes < Yes to show hotspot details. On each smartphone or tablet that you want to play on, go to settings and select the PS4 hotspot under wi-fi settings.
  4. Launch your That’s You! app and press ‘Play’. It’ll find your PS4 and sync with it.

For additional information and details, head on over to the PlayStation Support page.

*Note, your device must have Android 4.4 or later, or iOS 9.0 or later. Some selected devices aren’t compatible – check that list here.

**Internet/PSN features will be disabeled while the PS4 wi-fi hotspot connection remains active. Turn off the PS4 wi-fi Hotspot connection directly from the game settings or by closing the game. Also note, the PS4 wi-fi hotspot feature doesn’t provide internet access on your mobile device. However, some devices will ask you if you want to use this internet connection when you connect to the PS4 Wi-Fi Hotspot. If this happens, select [Yes] and choose the option to not ask this again (if it’s available).
