Gravity Rush, Samurai Warriors and a host of Japanese titles join PlayStation Now today

Asian-heavy wave of new offerings join the streaming service

Japan has a rich gaming heritage and given the amazing response we had to PlayStation Store’s recent Big in Japan Sale we thought we’d keep the good times rolling here on PlayStation Now. Next week it’s Mountain Day in Japan, the country’s newest national holiday – so we’ve duly obliged with a mountain of PS4 and PS3 games from the Asian powerhouse.

This week we’ve got Sultan in the house, sampling life at PlayStation HQ on a work experience placement. He just so happens to be a connoisseur of Japanese games, so we thought we’d let him recommend a few of his favourites from the list. Take it away Sultan:

1. Gravity Rush Remastered

Kick-starting the list, Gravity Rush brings a truly amazing storyline to the table which always leaves you wanting more. Filled with enticing RPG and platformer elements, this game is definitely a must-have.

2. Croixleur Sigma

TITLE

Croixleur Sigma throws endless waves of enemies at you in this hack and slash game. With different fighting techniques and abilities to choose from, you’ll find yourself immersed in battle in an attempt to emerge victorious over others. Will you gain the favour of the Queen?

3. Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War

A strategy title which replays the historical conflict between England and France right before your eyes. Align yourself with either side of the war and take control of a range of unit types to defeat the other side. With a heavy focus on strategy, shape your journey across the battlefield and lead your forces to victory. If levelling up and customising your play is your thing, then this one’s for you.

4. Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends

TITLE

Discover the intense history of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and even alter it with hypothetical scenarios which expand the Dynasty Warrior Universe even more. Unleash your inner warrior!

5. Warriors Orochi 3

TITLE

This action-packed series hits an all-time high with the much-loved heroes returning to our screens to unite and defeat the greatest threat they’ve ever faced. With the mysterious Kaguya trailing the path forward, can you change the fate of humanity and slay the dreadful Hydra?

6. Samurai Warriors 4

TITLE
Get ready to sink your teeth right into the delicious gameplay of Samurai Warriors 4 with old favourites making their mark on the battlefield and new-faces appearing in the franchise. Take on huge crowds of enemies at a time and piece together the intriguing storyline behind the Warring States.

Ni No Kuni.

It’s been four years and I still haven’t finished that game! You sure you can beat it on a monthly subscription?

PS4 exclusives on this too? Seriously?

Sony consoles becoming more irrelevant with lack of real exclusives

Still would like to be able to a similar thing to instantly trial ANY PS4 game before purchasing them. Would then mean companies don’t have to make demos… not that many of them even bother…

And Still only 2 EU Country

If I recall correctly, it’s 3. Not that it changes anything – PS Now would be totally irrelevant in the majority of Europe even if it had the ENTIRE library of PS3 and PS4.

Its entering closed beta in more countries very soon, they’ve already sent out the invites. It should enter open beta after a few months judging by how the UK service started.

I’m curious as to what countries. Also curious how you know about invites considering you’re in a country where the service is available.

I’m not disputing the validity of your claim but it would be great if someone could provide proof. I say this because no one at Sony is currently providing any insight to their roll-out plans, much to the frustration to many loyal fans who’ve been asking for an update – any update – for literally years.

Pathetic service that either needs to be removed or added to PS Plus subscriptions for free. Only die hard trophy hunters use this to play quick and easy platinums.

Nice, there are a few games I’ve been wanting to play there. Any plans for PS1 and PS2 games yet? I’d love to see the service start to include PSP and Vita too.

agree that it’s getting more interesting, but until they lower the monthly fee it’s a no go! > EUR. 16,- per month even Microsoft has a similar service (not streaming) but monthly subscription to play as many games(download) as possible, which is much cheaper and with more recent games. Therefore I will use that service instead (which means finally have Xbox one on more often) until Sony realizes the monthly subscription they ask is too much.

Why no MGS HD Collection, MGS4, Silent Hill HD Collection, Silent Hill Homecoming and Silent Hill Downpour etc…?

7.1

I would guess it’s a licence issue with Konami, but it’s a valid question as they are some amazing games!

They were added few months ago on US PS NOW then removed.

So I still think all the following names would go much better with this service: Playstation Now or Never, Playstation When, Playstation Where, Playstation What or maybe just Playstation Dead in the Water.

Still waiting for the service on my Australian PSN account. Really losing me for next generation, Sony…
