5 big new PlayStation Store releases you need to check out this week

Life is Strange - Before the Storm, Everybody's Golf, Absolver, Yakuza Kiwami, plus the rest of this week’s releases

Be it the golfing green, the streets of Japan or the gorgeous landscapes of Oregon, PlayStation Store’s new releases will take you on a tour of the world this week. Below are five of this week’s biggest releases, and as usual, the full release schedule follows thereafter.

1. Life is Strange: Before the Storm

Return to Arcadia Bay through the eyes of Chloe, a 16 year-old punk-rock rebel who forms an unlikely friendship with Rachel Amber, the most popular girl at Blackwell Academy. This prequel to Dontnod’s fan favourite adventure will take you back to the peculiar characters and gorgeous Oregon scenery of Life is Strange in a story set before the events of the first game. As with the original, Before the Storm releases episodically, with the first part, Awake, out this Thursday, 31st August.

  • Why you should play it: Your choices have consequences. But unlike the original, you don’t have time-rewinding powers to undo your mistakes, leading to a tenser trip to Oregon this time round.
  • More info: How the inability to reverse time impacts Life is Strange prequel Before the Storm
  • Available: 31st August

2. Everybody’s Golf

Celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of PlayStation’s best-loved sports franchises as Everybody’s Golf debuts on PS4. This new iteration of the famously fun and accessible golfing experience features the same three-click shot mechanic that fans have come to know and love. But alongside the realistic golf physics, online modes and character customisation is the option to go fishing, buggy racing or even treasure hunting! How you enjoy the green is up to you.

3. Absolver

Absolver is a stylish online combat game offering a wealth of tactical fighting styles to master. Pick your weapon, decide on your strategy, and plan your attacks thanks to the intricate Combat Deck. Design your own unique attack flow and spar with others to learn new combat skills, moves, and acquire weapons and armour. Will you be worthy of joining the elite corps of Absolvers?

4. Yakuza Kiwami

11 years after the release of the very first Yakuza on PlayStation 2, you can now experience the incomparable action and drama of the franchise’s debut with this PS4 remake that sees the game rebuilt from scratch. The remake is packed with new features and content with deeper stories, new side quests, updated combat, a re-recording of the original Japanese dialogue and much, much more.

5. Sparc

Developed by CCP, the studio behind Eve Online and Eve: Valkyrie, Sparc is a very new kind of competitive game. In Sparc, players compete in fast-paced, full-body contact sport entirely in VR. Customise your avatar with a host of stylish options and you’re ready to hone your skills in single-player challenges and trials or compete online in one-on-one multiplayer matches against friends or via matchmaking.

Where is Zero Escape: Zero Time DIlemma? It was supposed to come out on August 18th and then it was supposedly be delayed 1 week. I haven’t heard of it since.

Also, I have pre-ordered Everybody’s Golf today, but I am only able to preload 2 of the DLC packs. All the rest doesn’t come through.

I pre-ordered Life Is Strange some months ago and that one preloaded yesterday without any problem and that’s supposed to come out 1 day later then Everybody’s Golf. Don’t tell me that preloading only works well for people preordering the game more than 2 days before it comes out?

Btw, why does Everybody’s Golf cost 20% more in Euro than in Pounds/Dollars?

So I never got to preload the game (which means I won’t be playing it tonight as it won’t download in time with those nice PSN speeds).

I know it’s a first world problem, but not being able to preload a game because you didn’t preorder it 2 or more days before it comes out is somewhat weird imo. I had to manually go to the new store page of the seperate game (so not the bundle I bought) to download it from there. PSN on the PS4 itself didn’t give me the option to download before midnight and only showed the clock.

It somewhat looks like an oversight to me. Luckily I do have access to all preorder content, but it’s a shame I couldn’t download it during the day.

Hi, can you provide any info on Zero time dilemma for ps4? It was supposed to come out nearly 2 weeks ago then it was supposed to come out last friday, it didn’t and no reason has been given.

A physical release for Zero Time Dilemma has been announced for Europe and will be releasing on September 22nd for £44.99. I suppose they might have delayed the game so that both physical and digital release on the same day at the same price. Which is a shame. Especially that price. Might just stick with my vita version until it gets a massive price reduction.

That’s insane. That price is a lot more expensive than it is in North America. I am glad for the people who really want a physical release for all of their games, but I would rather have this game digitally to be honest. That said, if it’s going to be £45, it is possible I am just going to import the physical Canadian version which I can get (shipping included) for about £35 ish.

Yea I saw that, I just hope we don’t have to wait till then for the digital store version (that’s the version I was referring to in many 1st post) was hoping for a response of some kind from someone on the blog to give some idea I mean it was advertised to release BOTH the last 2 Fridays but nope. Next time I’ll just ask a brick wall, I’ll get the same answer as the blog team, SILENCE.

I wish games that has been released earlier in other countries within the same region could be released. I knew Koi and Knock-Knock were unavailable in Norway, and I assumed I had missed a few, but then I checked. The list is quite long.

Ace Banana, Adventures of Pip, AIPD, ATV Renegades, Baila Latino, Binaries, Bloons TD 5, BugsBox, Castle Invasion: Throne Out, Cat Quest, Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe, Damascus Gear: Operation Tokyo, The Deer God, Dogchild, Double Dragon IV, Dragon Fantasy: The Black Tom of Ice, Drawfighters, Elliot Quest, Embers of Mirrim, Fat City, Flying Bunny, Graceful Explosion Machine, Gunscape, A Healer Only Lives Twice, Her Majesty’s Spiffing, The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse, Knock-Knock, Koi, Lastfight, Lithium: Inmate 39, Maddening Overload, Magnet Knights, Miko Mole, MOP: Operation Cleanup, Motor Strike: Immortal Legends, The World of Nubla, P.T., Paperbound, Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds Overdrive, Piecefall, Pixel Gear, Poltergeist, Puyo Puyo Tet...

Of course, there’s always a possibility I’ve overlooked something, but probably of these games are available other places in the EU region. I’d like to see them released in Norway as well.

It’s because Sony doesn’t tell the devs that they need to translate the store page text. If they do, it can be on non-English storefronts. Otherwise it’s not allowed. I have asked devs to translate the text before (or sent in my own translation) and it usually is released after that.

The problem is that Sony doesn’t tell them, so they usually don’t even realise it’s not released on half of Europe’s PSN storefronts.

An other reason is because the content of the game isn’t allowed in specific countries, but I don’t think that’s the case for Norway and Belgium.

Btw, Storefront which aren’t translated are fine. Some European countries their storefronts are in English instead of their Native languages. Those games are fine to release in those countries. It’s because our storefronts are translated (badly btw as far as Dutch goes), that we can’t have those games.

It’s archaic and Sony Europe really needs to do something about it. Those devs lose a LOT of sales this way (and it’s usually indie games and they usually can use all sales they can get).

Btw, It was the World Of Nubla and Actual Sunlight where I talked to the devs. Both are on the Belgian PSN store. For Actual Sunlight they got a lot of different translations from the fans, so I guess it’s on almost all storefronts at the moment.

It doesn’t even have to be translated well. The Belgian store is full with straight copy-pastes out of Google Translate. It’s just some bureaucratic thing. The game can be in English without any other language. It’s only the store explanation that needs to be translated.

Maybe I should try to get a hold of the Puyo Puyo dev as I really wanted to play that game as well.

Pillars of Eternity, Obduction, Grim Legends 2 and Life Is Strange 2, busy week for me! Perfect timing as I am on a weeks holiday from work :D

Licky The Lucky Lizard Lives Again is on vita, not ps3

5.1

How could they mess up this bad? Of course it should have been called Licky the Lucky Lizard Lives Longer.

And it should have been released on Lita :D

What? No Obduction in Scandinavia? Why not – I have been waiting for this game!? Will it release a little later or not at all?

Frankly, I am SO tired of all the different games not releasing in all territories. Case in point; I am still waiting for The Turing Test, which still isn’t available here in Denmark.

Where’s the Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero DLC that’s supposed to by out today?

Does anybody know how much will “Life is Strange: Before The Storm” be, only for Episode 1 Awake?

Loved Life is Strange but skipping the prequel out of principle. They dumped the original voice actress to hire a non-union worker, which means the developers can’t be trusted to take care of their employees. I don’t want to support that kind of company.

10.1

Ok, firstly Square Enix is not one of the companies the union is striking against so that’s not the reason for them “dumping” Ashly Burch, it’s because she is choosing to not do voice work for any company during the strike, regardless of if they are whitelisted or not. And secondly Ashly is remaining a part of the games development as a creative consultant specifically regarding the character of Chloe, so she remains an employed member of the team and, as you put it, is “taken care of” as an employee.

You should have absolutely no qualms about buying Life is Strange Before the storm because your claims are unfounded.

None of those “top 5” are really enticing.

1 – A sequel to a drunk watching of Donnie Darko with annoying unrealistic characters based off what a bunch of middle aged French guys think teenagers in the US are like. Just now with less Donnie Darko and more unrealistic teen drama.

2 – A sports game based on one of the most boring sports ever invented.

3 – Even though I’ve played a bunch of PvP in “souls like” games, it just seems like the PvP without the rest of the game.

4 – Yakuza games are usually fun, but go on sale quickly and end up much cheaper.

5 – Another VR game, just this time multiplayer only.

At least Tekken Bowl is out this week!

Also the links to all the products at the bottom of the page don’t work again this week!

PS Plus titles for september are Infamous:Second Son and Child of Light. Haven’t played Child of Light, so that’s OK. Second Son is pretty dull and repetitive..perfect fit for PS Plus

13.1

Jeez, please no.. I have those and i think most of the players can say the same. Second Son was a pretty good game. I’ve enjoyed it only 2 times (good and bad karma). Sucker Punch has to make a sequel for this or the 2nd Cole adventure. By the way: i hope the september content will be different, otherwise, i’m dissapointed again…

Carnivius_Prime 30 August, 2017 @ 12:52
13.2

Frickin’ loved Second Son but it’s ancient in terms of PS4 gaming now and I’ve owned it both on disc and digitally and First Light. I would happily purchase Infamous 1, 2 and Festival of Blood on PS4 if they released those.

Child of Light is not my thing at all.

Hi. Not sure why the update was not published on Monday as it did for the last few weeks. Anyway, not sure if you are aware when clicking in Sparc VR the message that I get is that I pre-ordering it even though the game should be out. Has anyone purchased it already and does it download straight away despite the pre-order message?

Little_Donkey 30 August, 2017 @ 08:19

When is the release of Archangel in Belgium? Taking really a long time now…

Sparc VR still state it is a pre-rder when attempting to purchase it and Everest VR not on the store

17

Sparc VR appears as a pre-order when attempting to purchase it. Can it still be bought as it should be out already?

Also Everest VR not on the store

Sparc VR seems to be on the UK store: https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/sparc/cid=EP5018-CUSA09053_00-SPARC00000000000

Although I had to use a different browser and not log in (as I have a Belgian account). It doesn’t seem to be a pre-order as far as I can see.

Everest doesn’t seem to be on there. Hopefully it’s not delayed like some games were 2 weeks ago as some of them still aren’t on the store.

Microtransactions in everybody’s golf? Not going to list them, like you never mentioned them prior to launch? Not cool Sony.

Carnivius_Prime 30 August, 2017 @ 12:53

WINDJAMMERS! :D

Good offerings but, let’s face it, surely everyone who cares about inFamous has already played it by now? Especially since First Light was offered over two years ago? RIGS looks cool but sadly useless to everyone who doesn’t have PSVR. I will attempt CoL and Hatoful Boyfriend but only out of obligation…

Whoops, I accidentally commented on the wrong post, please ignore.

22

Any idea when Warriors All-Stars will be available on the Store? It is supposed to come out September 1st, but it is nowhere to be found.. I really want this game

23

Is Everest vr coming out this week or not?it’s still not on the store at 19.45

Where are the pre-order bonus items for Everybody’s Golf? This was meant to be part of a ‘day one patch’ but although the patch was over 7gb I don’t have my pre-order items.

If you go to the game on PS4 en press down, you can get to the bottom selection where you can see your DLC (I forgot how it’s called specifically). You can click there on My DLC (or something like that) and should be able to download alle DLC you don’t have installed by clicking on the arrow.

I hope it’s somewhat clear, I do this by memory. I will try to find a website where it’s explained.

If the pre-order items aren’t there, I would try to download them through the PSN store on PC and if that doesn’t work I would try contact Sony about it.

These are 2 of the packs you should be able to get through the store (it should be free for you):

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/addons/everybody%e2%80%99s-golf-premium-golf-buggy/cid=EP9000-CUSA02171_00-EN00000000000001

https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-gb/games/addons/everybody%e2%80%99s-golf-green-country-club/cid=EP9000-CUSA02171_00-EN00000000000004

This is for one of the old interfaces, but it works more or less the same now (you can do that in all your games, not only in the Library):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfQkX1733K0

Apparently it remove my previous post, but just go to your game on PS4, press down on the D-pad or the left stick and go to My Add-ons / and click on the arrow.

I got formatted bullets when I was making my post, but apparently they aren’t kept in the post itself???

25.1

That thing never seems to work…

Whatever happened to actually getting responses to comments or queries from the blog staff? We had a brief window where we were getting a reply (just after they relaunched the new design I think) and now we’re back to “radio silence”… It’s really disappointing that the blog staff just aren’t bothering to engage with their customers.

Exactly. Why have a forum if you pretty much ignore it? And it is especially important now, since a lot of releases has such a dispersed release in different countries, which makes a lot us ask questions about release dates in our country.

When is Obduction comming to Norway?

Don’t ask Sony, they know nothing. I have tried getting someone to tell me more about The Turing Test, which is also absent in Denmark, but noone is saying anything. Great service there, Sony.

Reagrding Obduction, it’s not out in Scandinavia yet, but there is hope, as I contacted Cyan, the developers, who had this to say to me:

“Thank you for contacting Cyan Support.

We are aware of the issue and are working with our partners at Sony on a solution.

We apologize for the delay, and thank you for your patience.

Kind regards,

Cyan Worlds Customer Support”

Sooo, here’s hoping…
