Get to know your base of operations in a new trailer for Monster Hunter: World, out 26th January 2018

PS4 action RPG's TGS debut gives us our closest look yet at the game's story

Monster Hunter: World brings you into a rich and intricate set of living, breathing ecosystems, and to prepare you for the wildest dangers of this new world, we introduce a robust home base of operations to supply your every need. Enter: Astera.

Astera, the beating heart of the Research Commission, has everything a hunter needs:

Guild representatives: these are your points of contact for every quest in the game. They’ll give you all the details on every quest, including any special instructions and potential hazards.

Blacksmiths: as you take down foe after foe, you can bring raw materials, such as scales, claws, bones and minerals, to the blacksmiths and they’ll forge new weapons and armour to prepare you for the next hunt.

Shopkeepers: in addition to picking the right weapon and armour set for the job, you’ll also need healing potions, traps and ammo. Talk to these folks on your way out to the field to replenish your tool set.

Cantina: this is arguably the most important spot in Astera. As every good hunter knows, you should never hunt on an empty stomach, so head on over to the cantina and get a delicious meal before every quest to boost your stats!

Research team: we wouldn’t be a “Research Commission” without one, and these fellows play a key role in Monster Hunter: World. As you saw in our latest trailer above, you have a pretty important job ahead of you, and you’ll be working alongside Astera researchers to get it done.

What big operation is this? What monster are we ultimately tracking? We can’t wait to show you more and start unraveling these mysteries, so make sure you follow Monster Hunter on Twitter and Facebook so you don’t miss any news.

In the meantime, you can pre-order your copy of the game starting today and secure your very own “Origin Set” armour and Fair Wind Charm, which will not only give you bonus attack, defense and gathering skills, but will also make you look like the very first wave of hunters, harking all the way back to the original PS2 Hunter armour design.

Will the Collector’s Edition shown during TGS Press Conference be available in Europe as well?

1.1

yes we will but its not in the Hops yet, which takes the [DELETED]. i want to peorder it. and I want the S4 rathalos edition but thats only exclusive in Japan.

Yup, the fact that the Italian version of the official site had the Collector’s Edition listed gave me hope, even if all shops links send to the standard edition purchase pages.

I’m keeping a dedicated browser window with a few shops ‘monster hunter world’ search pages open and refresh them every now and then, hoping it won’t be sold out too fast.

It’s getting annoying to have to do this for days if not weeks for most Collector’s editions though, when elsewhere it’s generally possible to pre-order at the time announcements are made or shortly after, or at very least at a known date…

Looks amazing! Can you tell us if we’re receiving both the collectors edition like the US / Japan version? Also, that PS4 Pro shown??? That limited edition design looked amazing and would be very popular!

Collectior Edition? From Capcom? After that Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite debacle? :P

I knew and wished that when world was announced, they would finally release a special pro and wow is it gorgeous!

If they don’t announce western release, just gonna buy it from Japan, assuming it should all work in Aus?

A PS4 from any region should work fine in any other. The only differences would be the DVD/Blu Ray video region (games are region free) and the plug.

sweet! when is the digital pre-order? :)

It’s already on the store (just search for monster hunter)

This is going to be fun. I have enjoyed MonHun for a great while now just hope you have better security now because cheaters killed it on DS for me :(

I’m mixed on this title until there’s some kind of confirmation that the gameplay is back to being remotely challenging.
